Just 20 minutes left of morning in the central timezone. Maybe everyone is out shopping for Independence Day groceries?

Good afternoon. Just managed to mow the front of the house but now I can’t get the mower to start so decides to take a break. Got gas, cleared out grass so the only thing I figured to do was either kick it or walk away for awhile! Decided kicking it might hurt so going to let us cool down a bit and walk away! With all the rain the last couple of days I’m surprised how dry the grass has gotten. Today is a perfect day so far. Light breeze and low temps are perfect to be outside. Rain in the forecast for later this afternoon so really want to get this chore taken care of! I’m going over to where my friends are camp hosting and have dinner with them. Going to get burgers from a stand just down the road from the grounds. Smoked meat and then grilled. And the weight is cooked weight so it’s quite a meal. A special treat for all our hard work the other day. And it’s local meat from the owner’s farm so it’s well worth getting once in awhile. No plans for the 4th here unless one of the boys decide to do a cookout. Don’t think there will be fireworks unless it’s from nearby communities or the ever present home type. Rascal is getting hard of hearing so they don’t bother him like they used to. If there’s a plus I guess that would be it! It was fun reading through the posts from yesterday. So much happening to everyone. Have a great day and be safe.

Slept in. but up now and watching TV while while I catch up on some POA tasks. My uncle had money in several small accounts, so we have been consolidating it and also changing banks from one that is in the Southeast US only, so one that has branches all over the country. Got to switch a lot of direct withdrawals and deposits first, and that is now easy when you are just a POA instead of a live person managing your own account. I am also submitting paid invoices to their health savings account.

I am at Maumee Bay State Park on Lake Erie. Campground is not directly on the lake, but lots of bike trails around here. I like the campground design because it is like a tree with curved branches. There may be 30 sites on one "branch," but because the road is curved, you cannot see more than 4 or 5 sites near you. Also, they are spread apart with greenery in between. Sites are also paved with grass and shrubs. BUT, the big draw to this place is that it is on a major bird migration flyway. Birds migrate from this part of the eastern US to Canada and vice versa via Lake Erie. There are some small islands in the islands that allow them to rest. This huge campground with 300 spots used to be farmland, but this was before 1975. Since then, it has become a large meadow with grassy and boggy areas, along with areas with medium-sized trees. They also dug several ponds before making this into a state park, and there is the beach and Lake Erie. The result is a birder's paradise. Whole state park is 1,300 acres, so lots of room and variety of environments for birds.

Last time I was here was in late April, and the female cardinals were coming through and bashing themselves on my windows. They would perch on the 6-8' shrubs next to my RV and then teeter for a couple of seconds before throwing themselves at my windows. And when they got bored of getting concussions, they would peck at my shiny hubcaps, making noise while I was trying to grade papers. This would happen every few minutes. Had to tape ribbons on my windows so the wind would blow them and scare the birds away.

Well, this is late in the season, but I have had a couple of female cardinals hit my driver's window and then look in my big mirrors. Plus, across from me a male robin is constantly sitting on a picnic table, so I assume he is guarding a nest. He will be unhappy when weekenders arrive tonight!

Sug and I are sitting in the moterhome because I can get 2 bars instead of one. The cell signal never has been good and now it's worse. It will be a miracle if this posts. Yesterday when I was checking my tires I found a bolt in one so two new tires. I have been putting off getting tires so while they were messing with them just got new. I should have replaced the other side too. Maybe next week.

Rain bands keep coming through so not much fishing.

Just got home from work. Learned a new thing today...making and inserting filters! Takes a little more concentration than rolling papers. Next week I get to actually stuff the paper rolls with pot.

It is clouding up but haven't heard anything about rain in the forecast. Still pretty hot and humid.

I think I might have had a raccoon visitor last night. The water bowl was turned over. Cats don't tip over their water bowls, but raccoons do. I heard there was a raccoon sighted in the park this past week.

This weekend I plan to get back to purging and organizing in here again.

I, too, am glad to hear from you Lyn. Barbie, it sounds like you're enjoying your new job. Yay. Martha, isn't it funny how you can move from one room to another, etc, and your signal gets better or worse. My RV is small and my signal varies from my couch to my bed often.

Nothing much to say, just light work days and resting to hope this cold goes away sooner rather than later.

Hooray of the day here is, son Chris got Pfizer 2 so in 2 weeks should be protected as best the vaccine can. And now some places are going back to masks! Chris is so frustrated as he so looked forward to no mask.
I got meat at Costco and small stuff at grocery store Thursday afternoon, so we are set through next week. Already hearing random booms between 9 and 11 and sure hope not as much as last year on Sunday night. We have our legal fountains and such to join neighbors in the cul de sac. Prices sure have gone up. Many doubled from last year! But celebrate we will as we have with neighbors since 1989!
