Wednesday 23

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday 23

Postby Shirlv » Wed Jun 23, 2021 7:23 am

Morning All, Monday night we had a storm and it rained all day yesterday and a drop in temperature. It makes me so aware of the drought the west is facing. Today is testing of emergency equipment. The loud alarms going off is very uncomfortable while the crews inspect each apartment. Think I will take the iPad and sit on my daughter’s sun porch. Wishing some relief for the west. Be safe

Good morning Shirl and the rest of you gals!

Yesterday we had lots of dark clouds all around. I could see rain coming out of them but it was evaporating before it hit the ground. I think the same for today. But it is really kicking up the humidity! 115* with humidity is smothering!
We must have had a few drops reach the ground yesterday while I was out running errands because there are spots all over my car in the dust.

Will be checking on the kitties this morning to see if they ate the tuna. I am going to talk to the security guys because they used to feed those cats too and see what they think. Maybe they can go under the house and see what is going on.

Going to a job fair today at the Riverside County Workforce building not far from here and see what they have to offer. I need a couple more things for the salon that I couldn't find on Amazon so will go find that. I am trying to keep it all at the very minimum expense and necessities just to get started. I don't have much money to put into that yet.

Need to get some housework done today too. Always more of that to do!

Karen, I sure miss thunderstorms! Right now tho, I am sure that is not a good thing with the lightning threatening to start a forest fire. But the rain is a blessing for you!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

It's warming up here, at 77° on its way to at least 90° today before return to triple digits tomorrow through weekend. I need to get to Curves and get my morning chores done. It's day to fill 2 weeks of Chris's pill boxes too. That takes time with 7 RXs and several supplements. He is sore from PT so gimping around. So I'm doing some of his chores too.
It's breezy out, I hear the flag on my pole moving. Our humidity has been in teens mostly by afternoon but, at moments is all the way up to 54%! Fireworks stands (safe and sane, ground only, no aerials) are going up, so no doubt our fire departments will have a busy few weeks, once sales begin on 28th. It's not these legal ground fireworks that cause the issues, it's the illegal stuff brought in from other places plus unsafe modification of the safe ones that causes issues ech year.
Barbara, hope your new venture goes well for you! Hoping you find your happy place, finally!
Karen, hope your week of appointments goes well and veggie plants at home don't miss you too much!
My son and family finally got refund and are in line at airport for their different airlines flight, trying to get home from working vacation in Florida, thanks to a big storm. . Last night they were delayed several hours standing in line for their flight, then sat 3 hours in plane on Tarmac, then deplaned and told flight cancelled and nothing until Friday with that airline. No compensation for meals, hotel, or anything, just given refunds . Luckily he finally found another flight with different airline for today. I'm sure his boss at Sheriff department is none too happy with him late getting back! I guess Florida wanted to keep them!
Have a good day.

Velda, I am sure your son's boss will understand considering the circumstances. Not like he had any other options. The airlines are so cheap now days with not providing any compensation for those kind of delays (food, hotel, etc).

We got some rain!! :o About 3 drops!! Yay! A little break in the heat today at only 101*.

I went to the job fair and it turns out it is virtual. They gave me a sheet with a QR code to scan with my phone. I have no clue how to do that so I guess I am back to CL to look.

Picked up a couple more things for the salon. I should be set once I get the stuff I ordered. Now to wait for clients...

I checked on the cat dishes and the tuna dishes are empty so that is a good sign. I think I will put out canned food for them for awhile since that has some water in it so they get a little more of it that way. It will be a long summer for them. I hope they can get thru it!

Barbie~ with most smart phones now, point your camera at the QR Code. It will open a web site.

Barbie, there were occasional sprinkles here. I could look around us and see rain falling but, as usual, we only got sprinkles. The temps got to 77, but with the clouds it's now only 70 and because of the breeze I just wore my sweatshirt ! to walk Ty. I hope some of you in even worse heat than I've had, get some relief, too.

Work was busy today. Off again tomorrow. Nothing planned except probably a quick run to the store. I asked for next week's schedule, but it's not done yet. They need to talk to the local to find out what she can work. I like her and she says she really needs this money but she's not available more than she is.

Yes with QR, I open camera, point at code and it opens site.
Well, my kids finally made it from Orlando to Minneapolis and home. He is not happy with how Spirit airlines treated everyone! No compensation. Sitting 3 hours on Tarmac. Several hours in airport then after they got off plane a text, flight is cancelled, no more flights until Friday and that is full! He ended up paying for a hotel for night and booking with Delta, who got them home. They picked up car, groceries, and my Grand dog, and are home unpacking and resting. He said storm in Orlando yesterday afternoon and evening was pretty big.
I went to Curves. Walked treadmill. Got brunch. Now off to shower. It's 91° at present outside! No sign of clouds.

The auto repair place we have used for years called me this morning and told me if I could be there at 1:00 they could service my motorhome while I waited. Boy, could I be there. I'm glad to get that over without having to be picked up and brought back to pick it up. Now just have to bring it after the 4th to get the generator worked on. It stormed on me going and coming home. I don't know if we got more rain here or not. I didn't check the rain gauge.

There has been a lot on the news about all the flights that are being cancelled. I didn't like to fly in the best of times. I was going to Las Vegas with friends one time and we had to sit on the runway for several hours because of fog. They wouldn't give us anything or let us use the bathroom. I had boarded a plane to Dallas one time and they make someone get off because the plane was over weight. I sure thought about telling them they could just let me off too.

The radar is showing rain out West. Sure hope that the ones that need it get some.

Spirit airlines is a crappy company. I have heard horror stories about them and their customer service. I would never fly with them. They have cheaper flights but by the time you pay for all the add-ons you need to have, you are actually paying more than the other airlines. So not worth it to be treated like crap by them.

Martha, I can't believe they wouldn't let anyone even use the bathroom! That is insane! What airline was that?

Barbie, my trip to Las Vegas was probably 25 years ago so don't remember what airline. I don't remember what I did yesterday. Las Vegas is not a trip that I enjoyed that much. The best part was the boat ride down the river. The casino's had moving sidewalks that brought you in but then we couldn't find a door to get out. We stayed at the Luxor and I wasn't too sure about the elevators.
