Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday

Postby Shirlv » Fri Jun 18, 2021 9:01 am

Morning All, another sunny low humidity day. Youngest daughter texted asking if I wanted to meet for lunch at the crab deck today. Silly question of course I do. The crab deck is under cover, on the water and has resident ducks that walk the aisles occasionally. Lol I like food but will love the company and it is 5 minutes from home. Yesterday came home from shopping and the tomato plant looked dead. I thought I killed it with the pruning. Gave it 2 gal. Of water and it came back. Think I need to water twice a day. This morning while watering found grass, pieces of clothe on the deck. It is quiet this morning and now wonder if there was a large bird attacking the finches nest yesterday and caused the commotion. Who would think so much drama on a 5 ‘ x 8’ balcony.
Disappointing shopping trip yesterday. Could not find tops that weren’t half spandex. Went to men’s department looking for cotton tees to wear at home but they all had sayings printed on the front. Did buy a 6 pk. of low cut socks for $8 that don’t scrunch my feet. Women’s socks would probably cost $15. Why is that? That’s all the news from the second floor. Be safe

Sharon, hope you found your anode rod. I have one of the cleaning wands for the water heater and can never find it when I need it. Every spring when I hookup the water at the camp I would like to use the wand but can't find it. I don't even know where the water heater is in my motorhome. It's electric only so no outside door. Someone told me it's under one of the beds but I think it's in the bottom of the back closet. I would have to unload the closet so haven't looked.

Karen, it's a good thing you don't live close to me or I would be bugging you all the time about computer problems. My son was so good at that. There is a place in Lafayette that works on Apple computers. I need to talk to them. At least I know to not open all the crap that comes over the computer and now the phone.

There is a big Walmart to the East of here that use to have the bars to keep trucks and RV's out of the parking lot. I see that they have taken them down. They are close to several campgrounds and are just off the interstate. I know we spend a lot there when we are camping and they were making it hard to get into the gas station. I wouldn't spend any money at a store that wouldn't let me park.

Shirl, crab cakes sure sounds good. I looked at crab meat the last time I went to the grocery store and it's still $25 a pound. I would like to make corn and crab bisque but probably don't need it since it calls for heavy cream. Probably about 1,000 calories a serving. lol

I got my mowing done ahead of the rain but now looks like most of it will go East of here. The warning area starts where I live and goes East. Hopefully it's not going to be much.

Yesterday when I went to put the trash can by the road it had a wasp nest on it and one stung me on my chin. This morning my jaw is swollen. Of course I couldn't find any benadryl cream. I took a drink of benadryl liquid and that sure made me loopy. I had to lay down before I fell down.

I don't know what I'll do today. Today is fish day at the deli but don't know if I will go town.

I’ve tried several times to get on here and have been interrupted each time! Finally called a painting guy and he came out to look at the outside of the house and because of the height, 3 stories they said no. But another fellow was driving by and they asked him to stop so he has the equipment and looked at it and will give me an estimate next week. Found out he does lots of jobs, works with several realtors in the area. So maybe I can get a few of the things done that sons haven’t gotten to for me. Martha, I got sidetracked in the yard yesterday and haven’t had time to look for the anode yet! But maybe today will get lucky and get out there and find it. I’ve already looked in logical places inside the house with no luck so it must be out in the RV! I hope anyway. I was planning on taking my recycling to the center this morning and then walk Rascal but need to finish some things in the yard before it rains later so guess it’ll be tomorrow for all that! I don’t want to walk Rascal on the blacktop with the sun beating down on it. That’s why I don’t like to make plans! Seems something else always comes up! But eventually things fall together! So guess I’d better go out and get the yard work done while I still can! Hope everyone in the path of this weather stays safe. Judy, good you got your ac working again. Looks like you will need it! Have a good rest of your day and smile!

I probably need to change my anode rod. But my problem is I loaned the tool to take it out and never got it back. It was no biggie because I didn't need it. Now I do and can't remember what size, etc to buy a new one. Anyone want to help me there? I do think I know where the cleaning rod is for it. But I should probably check. I don't remember lending that, too.

I'm finishing laundry shortly. There is no breeze this morning so the heat feels so much worse. Hopefully the breeze will be back this afternoon. What a waste of my days off doing pretty much nothing.

But on a good note I was quite depressed about the weight I've gained the last few years. When I got my first Covid shot, I weighed myself in the hospital and realized I was at my highest weight ever. I went home and cried and then decided to do something about it. I've lost about 15 pounds and hope I can continue because I need to lose that again and more. I can't see the difference with my day belly, but I'm feeling the difference. I'm scared to mention this at all and jinx myself but I'm hoping instead it motivates me to continue.

Off to get my laundry. Happy Friday!

Yay me! Found the anode a bit ago but now it’s raining! Beth, it’s a 1-1/16” socket. I actually knew right where the wrench was! Much to my surprise! Put this project on the list for tomorrow or as soon as the rain stops!

Thanks, Sharon. I just put one in my Amazon cart. And great news that you found your anode rod.

Good afternoon. Seems like most of us in the west are suffering from the heat wave. I need to go to Medford for my eye doc appts and the vet for Emma's vaccinations so I can get her dog license. Her others expired the end of this month. Also more Heartguard. Going to be hot this coming week here and in Medford. It is always hotter there. Will be 100 101 here next weekend BUT 106 in Medford but I will be home on Friday LOL

I had a Suburban water heater in my RV. I went to buy an anode rod at my RV fix it place, they just laughed at me.........well who knew mine didnt have one. LOL

Beth I think the Covid calories have gotten us all. I have lost 8lbs tho over the last couple of months and have more to go. Hopefully because I will be more active now in the summer, and so many fresh veggies, berries, and fruit. Not a big fruit eater but I do love all veggies. Martha I would help you of course BUT me and Apple products just dont get along. No Iphone here, android all the way. I do have an Ipad but I won it at a nursing conference. It is now 15 years old LOL I play games and read on it, that is it. I do watch Netflix once in a while but I keep getting messages that this tablet does not support this or that when I try to do something else on it. I just bought a Lenovo tablet and so far it is great. I had a Chromebook before because it was small and I could take it outside on the patio but since it burnt I decided I just needed a tablet This is working out great for sitting on my deck. My phone is just too dang small unless I have my glasses handy.

Crab cakes sure would be good, and the setting would be right up my alley. I am making Salmon patties for dinner so kinda close but different. Making somemore carrot/turnip mash to go with it. The last batch was super good.

Karen, I got a tablet once but the keyboard for it was so tiny I couldn't type on it. I never tried the touchscreen, but the curser was super sensitive and would jump all over the screen, so I just stopped using it. It is in a box somewhere. I just have my Chromebook now which I like except I can't get it to communicate with my printer.

The wind is picking up but still feels like a furnace outside. I am keeping the AC set higher in the living room and cooler in the bedroom and staying in there most of the time. I am waiting for dusk to go fill up the water for the stray kitties.

Have had a constant headache lately. Grinding my teeth all the time from too much stress! ...and looking at my computer screen.

I got the book "Nomadland" and just finished reading it. Very interesting, inspiring, and sad, all at the same time. I am going to watch the movie with Amazon Prime.

Have a good night!

Barbie I never printed from my Chromebook but some friends said you had to do something special to get it to print. Don't remember what but I am sure you can google it I think that is what they did.

ok before I forget what it was that I was going to mention to Sharon .... I don't know what size of dog Rascal is but when Shadow was having a hard time climbing up the stairs I'd pick him up and put him in... he didn't like it some times well most of the time he fought it :? then some time this winter I just let him do it harder on me than him... but he would pull himself up and make it inside... so if he will let you pick him up do so...
the first winter we were full timing we stopped at a walmart in St George did it proper went in got permission spent a pile of money on grocery's ect went out crawled into bed and went to sleep around 1:00 someone came pounding on the door it was a police officer said per the town ordinances no camping was allowed...ahead of us was the gorge not a fun road in the day time let alone in the dark and tired Hubby was so angry we never spent another penny in St. George I still don't come to think of it Washington yes but not St George. Thinking back I am rather irritated at the manager for not saying we don't mind but the city does... have found out since that there is a exit that turns into a big area that a lot of rv'ers and truckers use to boondock at... actually have used it once recently... for me I rather pull into a campground so I can plug in and enjoy the amenities usually I am on my way from boondocking for a few months or on my way down and know that I won't be plugged in for awhile so going to use it when I can
had to laugh at the talk of the anode I mentioned it to my friend that helps out some if he could remind me how to change it Anita helped me years ago so I don't really remember how but his comment was having any problems? well no then why worry have to admit that he is a good ole Idahoan  so it still needs to be looked into
it's been a do nothing day but that is the way it goes....
think I am going to find a piece of cake before that cake gets wasted as in tossed away cause it is too dry... :o whenever I've mentioned it to mom she hasn't wanted any and I hate indulging when she doesn't did forewarn her at supper so won't feel that badly
you all have a great day

Barbie, after watching the movie, I also bought the book and read it. I enjoyed both very much; both were "interesting, inspiring and sad", the book went into quite a bit more detail than did the film (the Fern character was fictionalized), but the cinematography, the music and the acting in the film were all first-rate.

It was a movie I'll not soon forget.

Please post your opinion on the film once you have watched it, I am interested in what others think about the film.

Thank you.

Karen, your iPad is no more than 11 years old. The first iPad was sold April,3, 2010. I got my iPad One in September 2010 and it still works fine. In fact this is being typed into my iPad One. It's been a great tablet. My newer is a 2016 Pro. I send stuff to printer from it quite easily. I will not own a Android. Tried Mel's a few times. Hated it. Harder to navigate, more vulnerable to being invaded by malware, and don't like the software .
Had a very Hot day in Northern Californua! Broke a record for date by reaching 111° and hanging there for several hours. At midnight it's finally cooled to 81! Tomorrow much the same. I knew we were in trouble when, at 0930 I looked at my weather panel and it read 100°. Went to Curves. Bug guy came and sprayed wasps. They were none to happy to be hit with his drenching of poison! Spent rest of day indoors with AC except quick trip to get son his promised burger and shake.
Stay safe all.

Velda I guess maybe it isnt that old and time isnt flying by as fast as I think LOL I just dont like Apple products. I bought a Mac computer as they said if you go Mac you wont go back. Didn't work for me. I tried very hard to use and like it but after being a PC gal I just couldnt get the hang of it. It wasnt cheap either, it spent it's life in the closet in time out. I bought books, going from windows to mac, didnt help. So for me I am glad we have choices and get use what works for us.

I loved Nomadland. A lot of people thought it was depressing but I didn't. Most of those people are happy with their lifestyle - they don't want the "normal" nine to five existence. They have the soul of a gypsy. I wouldn't be happy living their bare bones existence but I can understand that there are some that don't want to be tied down with "things" or to one place.

Karen, my son was the one that wanted me to get an Apple computer and I get along with it mostly. The computer I bring camping is a HP. It seems like the controls for each computer are opposite. It takes a few minutes to go from left brain to right brain. I have a Samsung Verizon tablet that I bring and use as a hot spot if I want to use the computer. The tablet is so touchy that I can't post from it. Things disappear before I can get something posted.
