Woke up with some pain this morning so took one of my prescription pills for that. Hard to get comfortable in bed with this shoulder pain. Hopefully I will hear back from the ortho office about having the authorization from my insurance to go ahead with the shot on Monday. Not looking forward to that shot tho! I had one once in that same shoulder many years ago and I just remember how big and scary that needle was and how painful that shot was! It did work good tho.
Tomorrow is Birthmother's Day. Kind of a bittersweet day for me.
I am planning to work on the kitchen today. Needs some work in there. It will be too hot to be outside but it looks nice out there and I can hear all the birds singing. Just a slight breeze right now but supposed to get real windy again later today.
Have a good day!

Afternoon All, sunny and cool on the shore. Morning got away from me. Got the new printer, read the connect instructions and felt overwhelmed . Watched YouTube to unpack and set up. Thought will do that then see if I can get help from a family member. Then like unloading too much dirt I kept fiddling, tapping buttons like “back” , walking away,
going back to the printer. It is up and running and I have no idea what happened but it involved my smart phone.
Barbie, during shoulder pain I slept in a recliner with my arm down beside my body and supported with pillows so there was no pull on my shoulder. If no recliner maybe you can use lots of pillows to simulate a recliner in your bed. Will be a heavy traffic weekend so will stay home and print stuff. Be safe

Today will be our coolest day for a while. Often summer and 100 degrees hits at least once in May, but so far they say 90 after today. Tried last night to find my handyman, as he isn't finished here and not answering my messages. Housemates said he was off working and they will let him know. I just want what he started finished! Other than Curves and Costco, nothng special planned here. I moved my Cpap to other side of bed to see if that would help my neck, then somehow forgot to finish lowering head of adjustable bed the last 2 or so inches so neck hurting again! Tonight will be better with bed flat, I'm hoping. Have a good day everyone. Barbara hope your shoulder feels better with pill and shot is approved soon! Beth, these days some Drs put you under sedation to manipulate a frozen shoulder, what they did to your Mom was not atypical of that time, but certainly brutal!

OK, I want to know how you can tell a frozen shoulder from one with just plain old arthritis? My left shoulder has been bothering me for about 4-5 years. As long as I do not move it or sleep on it, it does not bother me. Saw an orthopedic surgeon a year ago who said I need a shoulder replacement, but I really don't want more surgery.
Mine hurts when I suddenly reach up for something or try to fasten a bra or even take my bra off. This happens even when I try fastening it in front. Cannot reach with left arm to my right underarm to put on deodorant without a sharp and sudden pain.
I did catch my heel once climbing down a very steep ship's ladder when i first started RVing. I was hanging with the knee I had had replaced a few years before bent so that my foot was on my rear end. Gained about 20 degrees more bend, but it was really painful! I am pretty sure it tore scar tissue away, which sounds like what happens with a frozen shoulder, right??

Good afternoon. Been busy puttering around inside and outside. Had a few rain showers but nothing that amounts to much today. Managed to get laundry done, vacuumed, dug some dead grassy weeds out of my side yard. Got an estimate for a small fence today. 4ft Chain link with 1 4ft gate. Only about 50ft give or take. After 2 bigger companies charging an arm and a leg for not a whole lot of fence I found a fellow today that I am going to hire. He also does home renovations so had him look at my showers I want replaced. Told him we will talk about them later LOL
Meatloaf and mashed potatoes for dinner tonight. Had a light lunch so dinner will be pretty darn soon hah

Judy, a frozen shoulder severely limits your range of motion.
I finally heard back from the ortho clinic around 5pm. They finally got the OK from my health insurance. But now, the soonest they can get me in for the shot is Wednesday. I was scheduled to go back to work on Thursday and Friday this week. I read that the first 2 days after a cortisone shot can be very painful as the joint reacts with the shot. So I contacted my manager and said I can't start back until Saturday. I am only scheduled 6 hours on Saturday and I can leave early if needed. My new manager is so easy-going and cheerful about everything!
Also waiting for approval from insurance for PT again.
I did some dishes today but had to stop after a short time due to pain. Didn't get them all washed but not too many left.
Dave came by and painted the strip across the front of my house today. It helps to tie the front in with the teal colors on the deck and shed. So I think I can put all my paint away for the summer now and take care of the rest of it in the fall.
The wind seems to be picking up now so I better go take the umbrella down.

went to the grocery store spent more than anticipated.
but guess that is the way it goes... then my dd called said she would meet me in Wilson to give me my eye drops that I need to start tomorrow. so put groceries away and asked if mom wanted to go with me and then stop for Chinese yes of course she did I have a feeling that some stuff will go into the freezer as we came home with leftovers perhaps the Mexican leftovers
we will see still need to figure out a mother's day meal although I did get a roast beef one of those packaged cut up ones never had them before will see how they taste...
crocheted on my next afghan today since I didn't yesterday I did more than I normally do and can tell that my hands didn't appreciate it
but wanted to get back on the same sequence in terms of doing my 2 rows at a time...
hopefully I will remember to vacuum the floors tomorrow just in case she has visitors
Velda I don't understand these handymen that just do finish the job before going on to the other with the plans of coming back
my sister had this handyman to pack up the house so the floors could be put down which he did this was started in early Nov. he has put everything that could be into the garage stacked high!!! the floor on my sister's room needs to be redone as it was done incorrectly and the base boards still need to be done and the stuff that is in the garage needs to be returned to their various rooms although I think that is where they will remain so perhaps it's best that they stay in the garage...Admittedly she will have a hard time putting things away... but still it's going on 6 months!!!!
well you all have a good night

This describes frozen shoulder, and is what I learned back when I had it:
Aug 1, 2020 · Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition characterized by stiffness and pain in your shoulder joint. Signs and symptoms typically begin gradually, worsen over time and then resolve, usually within one to three years.
It's known to resolve on its own, but that may be several years, and who can put up with it like that? I sure was glad to break loose adhesions and be on road to recovery.

Velda, right? Who can put up with the pain and stiffness for up to 3 years? I have that, plus the rotator cuff tear, impingement, and arthritis.
I was watching a YouTube video about shoulder issues and they talked about a new technique for fixing all these shoulder injuries by hanging from a bar by your hands. It pulls your shoulders up and takes the pressure off them and realigns everything I guess. You just do it for 30 seconds twice a day. I will have to check with my PT guys and see what they say about that.

Barbara, I hang from a bar at Curves, though I'm not strong enough to keep my feet in the air for more than 10-15 sec, I'm working on that, and I give as little support with feet as I can tolerate. I also use a corner in the room to lean into with both arms up with lower arm bent at elbow and one on each wall as I lean in, which stretches chest and shoulders. My PT taught me that. Those adhesions that develop from not moving because of pain become a limiting factor, so it's best to try to prevent them. Breaking them loose was horrible, though momentary pain!
