I got a phone call from my doctors office this morning again and she told me the results of my MRI. After she tripped over a lot of big words, it basically is a torn rotator cuff injury plus some other stuff including arthritis in that joint. So not the best news. I have an appointment on Thursday with the orthopedic specialist. I also have a call back in to my doctor to see if she wants me off work longer which, in light of this new information, would probably make sense. I think my days of cutting hair may soon be over. I have no idea what I will do for work tho. Just a lot going thru my head this morning...

Am feeling better from the shot this morning tho. Had a fever last night but that is gone now.

My friends Dave and Debbie invited me out for dinner for tomorrow night with a few others from the park here. It is at a fun Italian place so that sounds good. Something good to look forward to, while I "hurry up and wait" for my appointment on Thursday.

I just changed to a new campsite and had to put boards under my front tires, but am still not level. Wish people would build level campsites. Other news is that I got the Nomadland book and started reading it last night. Maybe will see the movie when I get to Napa. It is a little depressing, but accurate. Only thing inaccurate is that the group they describe is really only part of the group of the people who are full-timing.

Barbie, have you checked into filing for workers’ comp since you can’t work? It seems pretty obvious your current situation of not being able to work is due to your work.

After I watched "Nomadland" (I loved it - I found the film melancholy, but in a way also joyful - to me, the movie is more "about" courage than anything else - the courage of getting oneself through each individual day during extremely difficult times) I decided to read the book.

I really enjoyed the book also, and recommend it also, although the book is a bit different than the film.

The book was quite a bit more "hard-edged" (the book is non-fiction), and didn't gloss over much of the reality of this kind of life for those living on the edge - I found the book somewhat depressing (didn't find the film depressing at all) only probably because books have more "time" to tell a story, where as. . . film is film. Plus the film was somewhat fictionalized (compared to the book) although not a lot.

Of course, there are many kinds of "nomads" (like you, Judy, and others on here). The book and the film mostly concentrated on those who become nomads, traveling around, searching for work in the Gig economy, who have few other choices. Again, the book goes into this more than the film does - but I am not faulting the film in the least.

I still highly recommend both. I have watched the film twice, and see a third viewing coming on. It is a beautifully-made film, and certainly deserved this year's Academy Awards for Best Film, Director and Actress.

I will second that. I think it is a good idea, and should be looked into. Might even talk to your Orthopedist about it during your upcoming visit.

Occasionally, I have someone make comments when I pull into a gas station about how much the gas I am putting into my rig costs. I am always just thankful that I can work a well paid job and afford to put $120 worth of gas into my motorhome. There have been times in my life when I could not do that or even buy McDonalds for my kids, which I think makes you thankful when you can. I have never been in the serious situations of the woman in Nomadland, because I had family I could count on, but I know how difficult it can be without such family.

Going to try to read more tonight.

I am off work for at least another week depending on the outcome of my visit to the ortho specialist on Thursday.

I talked to my old manager today and she said that unless I had a specific incident at work, it would be very difficult to prove it happened because of my job. I was told the same thing by the Urgent Care Dr I saw last week. My manager also said that because our franchisee has less than 50 employees in the state of CA, it makes it harder to make a claim.

I did check on line for unemployment and I can file a claim for that right away. It is for disability insurance (not the same as Social Security Disability), so I am going to do that.

I am still feeling a little "off" today but much better than yesterday. My arm isn't too sore other than the spot I got the injection (and from my shoulder pain). Have a slight fever now as well.

I had to go pick up the letter from my Dr for another week off from work and drop that off at the shop. Then stopped at WM to talk to my old manager. On the way home from there I stopped at the farmers stand and picked up 2 ears of corn. Now will rest this evening. Nothing on TV tonight.

To those of you who have read the "Nomadland" book and seen the movie, which one do you recommend I do first?

Hi ladies!

We went to visit my youngest sister in Daytona today who lost her husband to cancer 6 months ago. She's improving but still has a long way to go. We always take a care package consisting of foods and things to read. Today I also gave her a coloring book which we are both getting into. The weather here is warm but that's the way I like it. Sunday we had the congregation over for the Blessing of our casita and almost everyone showed up. We fed them lunch and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Barbie, I also have a torn rotator cuff and bone spurs and my orthopedic surgeon said I need to have my shoulder replaced, which is easier than a repair. I'm not looking forward to it since it's my right shoulder and I'm right handed. I'm anxious to hear what your doctor has to say. Good luck on all counts.

Barbie you might reach out to Sharon as she had her shoulder replaced... don't think she gets on here very often but perhaps she lurks and will see it... an old boss of mine had her rotor cuff repaired unfortunately where we were at closed and I don't know how she did hers was work related as when the bed came down on her shoulder she went to ER to "cover her butt" turned out to be a good thing

I'm with you Judy don't know why they don't make them level... in Ogden I had to put a board under the tires on the cement pad but not when I was in the grassy area thought it rather funny
so I know that the rating on the Nomand movie is R why???
just a slow laid back day sitting on the couch not sure if the couch or position but my thigh really hurts when walking finally loosened up when I started walking about
so don't even have any itty bitty tonight
can't even make up any

Barbie, hope you get some answers about your shoulder. Mine is bothering more all the time. I have to be careful taking things out of the microwave which is over the stove. Sometimes my shoulder wants to give out and I almost drop things. My step son just had his shoulder replaced but I don't know much about it. I'm not in contact with him so only hear about him through his sister.

I didn't sleep well last night and have had a slight headache all day. I finally took some aspirin after lunch. My cattle women club meeting was tonight. I usually pick up a margarita to take to the meeting. I don't think that helped my headache either. We had hamburgers that two of the husbands cooked for us. Have you noticed that most of my activities involve food. lol

Judy, I'm thankful that I can afford to buy gas for my motorhome too. We could have made it without me working but I'm so glad I went back to work at companies that had good retirement. I don't know why campgrounds that pave the RV sites don't level them first. My motorhome has automatic jacks but some sites are so un-level I can't use them.

My sister is suppose to be coming tomorrow for the campout this weekend. If she would get here early enough we could go tomorrow but I'm not packed. Knowing her, she probably won't be here very early.

If you have a choice, I would say watch the movie first. I watched it for free on Hulu; I don't know if it still available there.

I also would like to know more about shoulder replacement. That was suggested to me last year by an orthopedic surgeon. I was told it means at least a couple of months of not being able to do a lot of things, and I am not ready for that now. My left shoulder does not hurt unless I move it the wrong way, then I get a very sharp pain. I can barely put on and take off my bra, or reach up into a cupboard with that arm. Even washing my hair hurts sometime.

I am still looking at fall-protection devices. My son suggested an apple watch, but I am not sure I want to spend that much money or even wear a watch. They have some cheaper devices which you wear on your wrist, so maybe will try one of those first. I have not worn a watch in 15 years.

Very nice cool breeze in the campground today! It was hot when I woke up because I had left my electric heater on, so turned it off and opened some windows.
