Another Friday is Upon Us

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Another Friday is Upon Us

Good Morning on this chilly, damp and cloudy Friday here in morthrtn Michigan. The Low pressure is moving East, so we might see some sun today. It’s a slow moving system, so just a heads up to you gals out East. You may be in for a few days of damp weather. Think we are going to dry out this weekend :D

Irmi, we don’t have to make reservations 6 months in advance, but the RV business is booming and MI is a very popular RVing state. Since the pandemic hit, there has been an explosion in outdoor recreation here. RV’s, bicycles, kayaks and anything outdoors are hot items right now. People who are working from home now, have found they can do it from campgrounds just as well, as can families whose kids are doing online schooling. So as fast as the 6 month window opens for reserving campsites, they are snapped up like hot cakes. I was browsing the reservation site yesterday to check some of my favorite campgrounds and it’s very slim pickings. Maybe a day here and a day or two there, but otherwise full house. I did cancel a week I had booked for end of June through 4th of July n the UP though. Decided to wait for fall color season instead.

Just saw on local news that northern Michigan is outpacing the rest of the state in vaccine shots. We have 33.2 % fully vaccinated and 44.3% with first doses. The rest of the state has 28.1 fully vaccinated and 423% first dose. MI is on the fast track to reach herd immunity between Mid May and 4th of July and officially end the pandemic. They say it’s because there are more older people living “up north” isreason for more doses up here. They are still having big issues downstate with full hospitals, waiting lines at emergency rooms etc. Mostly all young people.

Tina, congrats on the dog show wins and also for you making it through the weekend. Shirl, glad you got the gardening done. Great feeling of accomplishment. And out in the fresh air too. Just read last night, where it’s estimated that people are indoors 93% of our time and only 7% is spent outdoors. Karen, I have mulch in the back of my truck too. But due to crappy weather rather than just me not getting to it. Think I will unload it today. I hear ya on the clay. We had that downstate. When it’s hard it’s hard. Here it’s all sand. Annie, if Fire season gets too smokey this year, get the heck out of there. I read that even with air purifiers going you are still inhaling fine particles and the risk for lung damage is very high. Might not notice it right away, but down the road you will. And same for Joe. He goes out, breathes it in, even in the house, gets ash particles on his paws and if he licks them, one sick dig down the line. I would be packing my trailer and leaving.

Thinking a trip to Camping World might be in store today. Want to go down and get a couple things to put my hoses and cords in and eliminate couple of plastic bins in my storage area. Right now, time to head for the shower and get the day going. Have a nice one and stay safe.

Morning Sue and All, sunny morning and after nine hours sleep feeling good. Not feeling any after effects of walking buckets of dirt but there is always tomorrow. Lol. I did plant a large pot with geranium (thriller, filler and spiller) and herbs. The balcony garden is finished until the greens die off. The only plan for today is buying strawberries and hanging at home. Anita, how disappointing that your move is delayed. It seems spring is a long time coming this year or maybe because 2020 was so awful. Beth and Sheila it will get warm soon. Tina, you getting there. :D Be safe

Hi, Sue. I agree with all that you say 100%. Especially about my sweet Joe - he is a large-ish dog that likes his exercise - he needs about an hour a day to keep him happy. I kept him inside as much as possible when the smoke and ash were bad. . . he was not happy.

Excellent suggestion to "get the heck out of there".

What is your address again, please? 8-)

Anne, you can come enjoy hurricane season with me. lol Instead of ash you will have mildew.

I thought we were going to miss the rain today but I'm hearing thunder. The trash truck just passed. He is really running late today. I was afraid they were going to skip us again.

Last night's meetup meal was fun. We sat at a hibachi grill table. I enjoyed the show and the food was good. I had fried rice and steak. I was surprised at how much steak he put. I put on black slacks last night and had to use the lint roller 4 times to get the cat hair off. Now I remember why I don't wear black or navy.

I am thinking about going to the feed store. They close at noon on Saturday and I seldom make it to town before noon. I think I'll ask if they have any grass seed that is good for a lawn. I think my lawn is mostly weeds. Now would probably be a good time to put out grass seed since it's so wet. If it's not raining I might stop at Lowe's.

Good Morning,

Another beautiful day here. I'm going furniture shopping assuming store will hold anything I buy until the move. One store supposedly has or can get the bed I want.

Went over to Monica's to pick up a couple of my packages. She was out weeding - I thought it was nice groundcover, but she informed me otherwise. :) Well, it had pretty white flowers. I helped for a bit. Even though I won't be going to grandson's wedding and dinner, she wants me to go with her so I have reserved a room and a rental car. It will be good to have time with her and to be there after she's spent hours with her jerk of an ex.

I had a new experience using baking soda and vinegar to unclog my kitchen sink drain. I finished doing dishes and was cleaning the sink when it just quit draining.

Enjoy your day!

Anita, that's my go to for clogged drains. But I'm not sure I have any baking soda right now. I'll add it to my grocery list.

Today has been insane weather-wise. I don't think it got above freezing until 9 or 10, but at least there was no wind this morning. The sun came out and I took over layer off while walking between the housekeeping room and guest rooms. Then I did the walk and was freezing. It had gotten cloudy. Brrr. This afternoon I went to walk Ty and some combination of snow and sleet made for a very short walk. An hour or so later the sun was back out and the maintenance guy came to tell me the new site I needed to move to was ready enough (the current site is rented to guests tomorrow). So I moved over. He still needs to put down the pink rocks for my patio and bring me a picnic table. I told him no hurry, he's been swamped. My site would have been long finished if we hadn't had that water leak that turned into a major, several day project. Ty and I were outside again and got in a good walk and shortly before getting back to our site the clouds returned and tiny little hail started hitting us. If any of the weather apps are right, we might see spring again next Friday. The maintenance man said he thinks now we'll go straight into summer and hot. I hope not, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Aside from working tomorrow I have to do laundry. It's piling up. I need to clean the laundry room, so I'm going to try to combine those tasks after rooms are done.
