Rainy Friday

Good Morning All, light rain and cloudy today which is fine with me. I need a down day to just step back from the news and life’s challenges. Poor Walmart had a system snafu Wednesday so yesterday was a backup disaster for the grocery pickup. I imagine Walmart workers were on the receiving end of nasty comments. I live chatted with Daniel, canceled my order and entered for Monday. I was told my patience was a rare quality nowadays. When did our country get so nasty. I met my new doctor, no training required. Lol My area is losing many doctors. Don’t blame then after this past year but health care was changing before the pandemic. We will have to be on our toes and take good care of ourselves. Be safe

Good morning Shirl and all who follow. I was out and about driving yesterday, and I agree with your assessment of impatient people. The instant the light changes, the horns beep. I had my right turn signal on and this guy cut in front of me from the left and made the turn before me. What the f*****. Also drove I-84 through Hartford at 5:30 last evening the the road was jammed in either direction with people going home. They obviously weren’t telecommuting. Had my first dinner in over a year at a friend’s house last night and she said she had forgotten how much work entertaining is when you’re out of practice. Such is life. Enjoy today. Peggy

Good morning! Shirl, we got rain during the night so it is wet outside right now. Plus it’s much cooler. I did notice yesterday that the trees are really starting to leaf out. Spring is coming! Pretty soon everything will be yellow from the maples! And allergies will really kick in! My poor car was needing a bath from all the dust but now it’s polka dotted, was hoping the rain would clean it off but didn’t happen! So maybe a trip to the car wash at some point! The propane detector came a little bit ago so I have Jim probably coming this afternoon to replace it. I’m sure my neighbors will be happy not to hear it beeping! He is going camping up in this area this weekend so he’ll just change the detector but won’t have him do anything else so he can be on his way! So guess that’ll be my day. I had a doctor appointment in State College yesterday so I did some running around then so had hoped to work in the yard but don’t think that will happen with as wet as it is out there. Not like I don’t have plenty to do inside! Just more fun to be outside! Actually I’d rather be camping somewhere! The last few days really fed that urge! Not time yet though! At least not for me! With my luck I’d get caught in a snowstorm! Unfortunately it can still happen around here! Beth, I think most of the snow has melted here except for deeper in the woods where to sun doesn’t shine! And I sure remember cleaning rooms many years ago. I’m sure it would be a lot more tiring now then it was then! If a maid called off or didn’t show it fell to my mom and I to do it! Enough babbling, time to go get something done around here! Hope you all have a great day and as always, stay safe!

Just got home from my annual physical. Went good. Need to go get my blood work done yet. I told her about my issue lately, and she said to start on a very bland liquid diet to clear out my system and then gradually start adding soft food. Well, that will have to wait a bit. I am going out for lunch today with my friend Cindy, and then dinner out with my co-workers on Sunday.

I just got a text from my manager and she decided to go with my suggestion for the restaurant for our dinner. Yay! I love their food and they have a huge variety of options to choose from. Unless, we went to some super high end restaurant and ordered lobster, there is no way to use up all that money anyways. One of the "boys" isn't going so that would leave us with $100 each to spend, (drinks not included). Such a stupid waste of money! So we earned a $400 bonus but the owner only has to dish out about $150 of it. Maybe we could each order another plate to go and add that on to the tab. Our owner is a rich conservative and has no idea how the rest of us (peons) live. We would be much better off with the cash.

Need to do some cleaning around here before meeting Cindy for lunch. We are going to the casino across the street. It isn't too bad outside yet but will get into the 90's later.

Beth, how do you like the people you are working with/for, so far? Sounds like Ty likes them better than the last people you worked with. Dog's are a good judge of character.

Have a good day! :D

Morning/afternoon, everyone. I'm nursing a sore foot so haven't been doing anything but reading here, for most part. Tuesday I thought I had a splinter in my foot and kept looking at it. By afternoon, I realized it was a flare up of plantar fasciitis (only other was in 2013 I think). Felt like my foot was splitting each step. Arch swollen still. Have been doing all I can- using ice. Hot Epsom salt soaks at night, massage with CBD cream, and found my rubber stretching ball I got last time and using it. Can't take anti inflammatory drugs for 2 reasons- even 2 consecutive doses cause stomach pain, and the BP RX I'm on it's advised not to use anti inflammatory drugs as they interact. Hoping swelling down soon, my slipper was looser last night. So annoying and not sure what brought it on, possibly change in foot position on one machine at Curves.
Meanwhile, it's beautiful weather headed into a mix of high 60's through high 80's over next 7 days with ups and downs but very little chance of rain.
Barbara, not sure what Dr specified as to bland, but doing a elimination diet for a few weeks, then gradually trying different foods, may help identify the source of your issues. I discovered in my 40's , much to my chagrin, that perhaps as a baby I was smarter as becoming an adult had brought both full glasses of milk with meals (gotta get that calcium, or so I thought) and bananas ( potassium anyone?). One night as my belly hurt and gave me issues, it came to me that my Dad had talked about driving to tne country, when I was a baby, to buy me goats milk. Light bulb! Maybe I shouldn't drink milk? I stopped the daily glasses of milk and the issues went away! Then came breaking out on my hands, which I thought was Betadine soap at work. Allergist tested and said you are latex sensitive, and oh, by the way bananas, avocados, and kiwi are related to latex. Stopped daily banana and my nose cleared for first time in the years I had been eating daily banana with a stuffy nose were over. Again smarter as baby as Daddy said I detected and spit out anything which contained banana as he fed me!
Have a good weekend everyone.

Drove yesterday to Oliver Lee SP near Alamogordo, NM, and enjoyed a drive through White Sands National Park. Yes, it is officially a national park, but signs and web sites have not changed yet. OIiver Lee SP is tucked up against the mountain range and is next to a canyon you can hike in. Not sure about this year, but in past years, there was a tiny stream in the canyon. Since the campground is on the mountain slope, some of the sites are weird. For example, I am parked in a sort of square handicap site on a diagonal--meaning the only way I could fit in was from one corner to the other! The water and electrical hookups are in the one far corner. I have to move tomorrow for one day to a site across from me, and I have no idea how I will get into it. Might try pulling in headfirst, but on a diagonal also, as it is square but has a covered picnic table on one side I will have to avoid. I do have a fantastic view of the valley, however!

This has been a mostly boring past three months because almost no museums have been open. They are beginning to open, however, with even the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque is opening in a few days. There are also a couple more open but that one is my favorite. Need to get an update on Santa Fe museums. I am staying at a fairly expensive place in Albuquerque because I need to do laundry and to try to get a truck wash somewhere to get the desert dust off my rig. The only Blue Beacon is in Gallup, so I will get it washed there when I leave this state.

Anyway, did a little cleaning this morning and got some printing to do. Once I get my printing done, I will put my printer away and be able to stuff away some stuff that I had to pull out to get my printer out from under my rear dinette. It always feels better to have everything put away. No milk in 48 hours and had only one IBS episode yesterday. Hope today is good also.

I had plantar fascitis quite a few years ago and know how painful it can be, Velda. I had been walking briskly every evening, and when it got painful, I just kept walking. Doctor told me to stop walking until foot was better then to go more slowly instead of trying to ignore the pain. And I know how painful even the stretching cure can be. Hope it gets better soon.

Thanks Judy! I'm trying to move around more and need to go to pet store sometime today and grocery for few things. Just hope my shoe will go on with loosening laces. This was just so, out of the blue. All good, then woke feeling like I stepped on splinter and down hill from there. The other time, I recall it coming on gradually and I don't recall the swelling, so it's more possible I injured it slightly and ended up flairng the tendon witn inflammation. So annoying.

Hi all. Rainy day here too. Off and showers and cooler. O’Sharon, I am with you on another possible snow yet. Two years ago we had 24 inches of snow in two days in mid April

I am enjoying. Y day today. Nobody wants me or my checkbook  Doc appt., 2nd vaccine shot, new truck assist step mat, new carpet and dentist are all done. Up next are the countertops, but don’t know when on that yet. Ran the vac, washed a load of bedding and have been working out in my garage maki g some repairs and alterations to the bins that I made for along the sides of my truck’s bed. Still one spot left, but need to either jury-rig a shelf with existing scrap lumber or just go get a new board. I use that space for the little things I carry like my little campfire stove, kindling wood for fires, pie irons, propane canisters and stuff like that. Use of wasted space.

Furkids are bugging me for a walk, but I told them to wait till the rain stops here in a bit. So they had a free for all in the living room

Quite the frustrating adventure you had the other day Shirl. Been there done that. Fortunately now, with my IPhone, it’s Maps app is a GPS. So when I’m heading for a place I don’t know for sure where it is, just put in it’s address and off we go. Works great. But one must have cell service. A lot the newer vehicles have built in GPS, but mine doesn’t. I agree with you and Peggy about no patience these days. I think the businesses I do business with, appreciate my understanding if something goes wrong. Everybody is showing handed and things are not flowing good with all this pandemic stuff. I called Camping World yesterday, to find out about an order that I had sent in over a week ago and had not heard anything from them other than the fact they were processing it. Was just curious to see what it status was and I got a very nice customer service rep on the phone. He gave me an update on my order and we are so cancelled one item as it’s not in stock and looks like they are not going to get it again. He told me my order was probably going to be shipped out later that day as the stuff was coming in from the Indiana warehouse and he said we are unbelievably shorthanded. I told him I can certainly understand that and that I wasn’t in any hurry, was just kind of wondering what was going on. Very pleasant conversation.

Velda, I hope your foot gets to feeling better pretty soon. Beth, I can imagine that you were probably tired after cleaning rooms as it is a lot of physical work. I did it for a number of years and I have to admit I did enjoy it. It was doing a service for others. We all appreciate it when we have had to go stay in motels or hotels or wherever and have nice clean accommodations. That kind of work does keep one in physical shape though.

Question: I know several of you have said you cannot drink milk. Can you eat cheese?? What about other dairy products?? Cream cheese? Sour cream?? Ice cream?

Judy, all those dairy products have lactose, often the chief culprit , to varying degrees. The only dairy most people tolerate if dairy sensitive, is butter and ghee. You might do well to stop all dairy for a few weeks, without cheating, and reading labels carefully, then one at a time try reintroducing them. I do better with hard cheese than soft, due to the lactose being lower by virtue of the chemistry of cheese making. Ice cream, ok only if high butter fat - the higher butter fat is usually lower in skim milk, which has more concentrated lactose. I can do some heavy whipping cream, but not half n half. I do better when I only eat dairy a couple times a week, spaced by a day or two. Now that I have stayed mostly away from dairy for over a decade, I can get away with a serving or two without issues, but, for example, if I were to eat ice cream 3 days in a row, it would have my gut in an uproar again. There comes a point where you are tired of symptoms and enjoy not hav g symptoms, where it gets easier to stop stuff that upsets you. I find I don't miss cheese the way I thought I would. best tip- become a detective with label reading, as milk products hide where you don't expect.

I should stay away from most dairy. I like both ice cream and cheese. For 3 or more years I only ate ice cream I made with coconut milk. I still ate some cheese, but keeping away from milk and ice cream, except my coconut ice cream kept most of my problems away. Unfortunately I've been being bad and for too long. An occasional lapse doesn't usually cause too many problems, but, like Velda, I'm better off not doing it.

my friend (who is more like a sister) also is allergic to latex.... when she first found out about it there was so much she couldn't eat although always could eat banana's but now over the years she has been able to reintroduce in some of the favorite foods but not all ... only now her bowels are so messed up due to that she can hardly eat anything solid..
my son in law is lactose intolerant he can eat ice cream if he drinks "his" milk with it weird .. but it works for him his milk is the ones that say lactose free or whatever it is
another day of do nothing but tomorrow will be on the road good thing Tuesday the winds in Vegas will be 29 16 doesn't sound too bad compared.... still don't like it but it doesn't change over the weekend just gets worse....
hope to leave reasonably early emphasis on hope to  I really would like to get to Cedar City. and hopefully the campground will have spaces available if not not sure where I will go... guess it will depend upon the time of day...
if I thought I could get there for sure would make reservations looking at the distance should be ok but it doesn't seem right so not sure what roads that map was using
probably can ask in the office when I leave I want to get ice and a route 66 mug... :? and perhaps even make reservations
I am terrible I stay too long in one spot and then have to talk myself into going...
it's been so hot that I've drank a lot for me a huge amount hope it doesn't catch up with me
it will be good to see my kids and grandkids looking forward to it... and do have a oil change appointment for Tuesday
and it will be nice to get further north into cooler weather although AZ usually has a warm up even close to 100 then cools down not usually there for the cool down time....
Barbie that might not be a bad idea each get a couple of to go's a long with your meal or at least make sure you have lots of left over and he isn't springing for drinks as in pop or adult beverage?
you all take care
oh Beth was reading where a couple visiting Death Valley had two flat tires so took off leaving a note saying what direction they went and that they had 3 days of water she survived he didn't so sad

Cindy and I rode my golf cart over to the casino for lunch. We both had a fillet mignon and salad. Was SO good! Haven't had a good steak in so long! We had a nice conversation. Both her and her mom's houses are listed for sale now. I so wish I could afford her moms house! It has a beautiful view right on the golf course! She said she would go as low as $120K but that is way over my budget. My house is worth about $85 right now.

Didn't do much after I got home. I discovered that there is a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory at the casino! :o We each got one thing there. That could be a bad thing to have that so close to home!

Finally supposed to cool down this week to the low to mid 80's which is more normal for this time of year. It was pushing 100 again today! I need to have Dave paint a small strip of trim across the upper front of my house with the teal paint. I matched the spray paint I got at HD and got a small sample jar of it so he can use a small roller to paint it on with. It is kind of precarious in front with getting around the awning over the bedroom window with the ladder and would be too difficult to try to spray it on, let along mask it off first. The trim is only about 2 inches wide so he can just roll across the front of it easy enough without even masking it. I am going to tackle the trim around the slider this week. If I have to wait til fall to do the sides and back, that is OK. I just want the front done and looking nice. I have already gotten compliments on the new color from neighbors. Still need to put together the table and umbrella on the front patio too. I will need to find a way to fasten the umbrella to the shed so the whole thing doesn't blow over in the wind. Even with the umbrella closed, the wind could easily flip the whole thing over. I think if I put a large eye hook into the shed and then get something strong to hook from that to the umbrella pole that I can remove and put back as needed, that will work. I will get Dave's opinion on that. Oh, and I need to put up my name plaque too. Will have Dave hang that from the front of my carport awning.

Sheila, no alcoholic beverages will be paid for with dinner. That is on us.

As far as milk goes, I have never had a problem with that and have always drank a lot of it. However, lately I just haven't had much of a interest in it and haven't bought any for a month or more. Sometimes I buy a little bottle of chocolate milk on the way to work for the protein. Had some issues tonight but all I had today to eat was the steak and salad. Did have a bowl of ice cream tonight tho. Might have to cut all the dairy out for a bit and see what happens. Are eggs considered dairy? Or are they lactose-free? Had some eggs yesterday.

Off to bed...

Interesting, Velda. I had never heard that before.

I have never liked eggs much, the thought of eating an egg - fried, scrambled, boiled or over-easy - tends to make me queasy. On the rare times I will eat an egg, I often will feel a bit "off" for a while afterwards. I wonder if it is my body reacting to this protein?

I cook with eggs - cakes, breads, cookies and such - but almost never eat eggs "by themselves", served on a plate. . .
