Last Day of March

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Day of March

Postby Colliemom » Wed Mar 31, 2021 6:46 am

Good Morning from the chilly north. After a beautiful, windy, but warm mid 60 degree day yesterday, todsy we are cloudy and not expected to get much warmer than low 30’s  Winter and spring are battling it out. That time of year.

My trip to Camping World was fun. Left some green there of course. Bought a couple new water hoses as I hate those white vinyl ones. They are so stiff. For a long time, They were all there was. I haven’t camped with full hookups or water hookups in about 4 years, but carry them anyway. Never know when I might need them. Looked a Surge Protectors but didn’t get one yet. Still researching them. My God Sam membership was getting close to renwall time and they renewed it for me, even though it is on automatic renewal. Also bought a year of GS Roadside Assistance. . Had a special price offer going. Saw a few things I might get later, we shall see.

So todsy I think it might be stay home day, unless I run a couple errands in town. Will think on it.

BJ, I’m taking Vitamin D 3 supplements, but only 2,000 IU a day. My NP said to take 5,000, but you can overdose on that stuff and I was getting some of the symptoms, so reduced it back to 2,000 a day. 2,000 a day as opposed to 5,000 every two days, adds up to about the same in the end minus the 1,000 and I’m more comfortable with it. That amount your Dr. suggested seems awful high. Everything I’ve read says 4,000 IU a day is considered the safe limil for most people. Most people have Vitamin D deficiency and don’t realize it. We are not exposed to sunlight enough especially the farther north of the equator you live. And even those in sunny climates can be as well, if they don’t spend a lot of time outdoors. It can cause muscle weakness, increased risk of fractures and loss of bone density among other things. Even if yo are outside a lot, the amount of clothing one wears can keep your skin from absorbing enough sunlight.

Seems like a number of us have memories of trips up the Inside Passage. And we that have, know that driving ourselves to Alaska makes a far richer experience than taking a packed cruise ship. We didn’t RV but we had some great accommodations on that trip.

So, guess I will go check my FB groups and then get my day going here. Have a great day everyone.

Morning All, cloudy and rain this afternoon. That’s fine with me since I had an outing yesterday. Bj, I think the high high D dose was a loading dose and the doctor didn’t give a stop date. Follow up with the office. I had to do the same but can’t remember for how long. I separated the Boston Fern in the potting shed/kitchen. What mess, dirt from one end to the other. Sure miss the garage. Just hanging out, watching lettuce grow and waiting for warmer weather. Beth, sounds like Ty has a great personality. :) Be safe

Today is going to be great here 75, our warmest day yet. And supposed to be nice all week. I am down for that for sure. Need to go to Home Depot and get some bags of soil so I can plant my Lilac, Azalea, and Burning bush. Hopefully no deer will eat them but we will see. My neighbor said we have them here but I have seen no evidence yet. Since I havent lived here that long I will just experiment this year and if they eat them then I will have to make a new plan LOL I also have to see the sun pattern for the summer. It gets hot here too, maybe a couple of degrees cooler than Ashland area I dont really know yet but I dont want to plant things in the wrong spot LOL

A little morning housekeeping as it is pretty darn chilly outside right now, but it is early yet only 35 but it will warm up later yippee. Beth is getting ready to hit the road, on to a new adventure. Shelia is patiently waiting out a couple of things before heading north. Anne was good to know you are still around. You know it is kind of great on here that people are missed, especially the ones who post more frequently. Shirl is watching her lettuce grow LOL good thing is it does grow rather quickly. Sue left a little green at Camping World, always a dangerous store for me when I had the RV. I like that they do have some unique things there but duly priced usually. I bought a few "gardening tools" yesterday. I still need to finish painting my trim on my house around my windows. My list is getting longer but I have to say I only work in the mornings usually. After lunch I am done. But I do know the work is not going away anytime soon so I get to pace myself.

Going to go to Costco this afternoon and pick up a few things and a roasted chicken. I like having that for a couple of days then picking the meat off and making enchiladas. That is my plan. I picked up everything for them except the Monterey jack cheese, dang it. I dont like to buy that at Costco because they only have the huge bags so will stop at the store.

So that is my rambling news for today.

Sue, the good surge protectors are not cheap. I have used one for years and have had to replace one that went buggy on me after lengthy use. I had forgotten the lifetime warrantee and couldn't have found any paperwork if I had remembered but when I went to replace it I just coughed up the money. Over the years they have identified multiple issues at the electrical post before I plugged in.

I am now looking for a back up camera. I would like to add one to the RoadTrek while it is over at the mechanics being worked on anyway.

There is a three way dog wrestling fest going on in my office. That is what damp gray weather does. The rules are always the same. No puncture wounds. No broken bones or twisted muscles. They look so fierce. I do enjoy one of Lark's moves were she slow and smoothly backs over Jane and sits on her. Jane goes for the legs.

Good afternoon ladies!

Sue, I always enjoy hearing from you & seeing what's going on at the 45th parallel. Tina, it is so good hearing from you regularly and please continue improving. Cheryl, I'm so glad you have your truck back and hope you have safe trip to your Dad's. Beth, have a safe trip to Utah. I still brag to friends about the wonderful tour you gave us at Custer State Park. Shirl & Anne, I can't wait for more reports on your gardens. Barbie, I'm glad you're getting along with the new manager. Sheila, I'm waiting on weather updates and the vaccine issue for you. We're having the same issue here in Sumter County FL and wondering if we'll have to wait until we get to MD to get the vaccine, although we are registered with both the county and grocery store here. Karen, I love the new table you bought!

We are having an over the air TV antenna installed today for our casita and Steve will be thrilled because without the antenna, our TV selection is limited, sometimes only one or two channels and they are iffy. We choose not to have a monthly TV bill so this is the route we're taking. It is 86 degrees today but in a day or two, will only be in the high 60's. This is crazy weather we're having. It's hard to believe that Sunday will be Easter already. This time last year, we were almost ready to head back to MD, but we'll be here for a couple more months this year.

Irmi, if you have Amazon prime their prime video has a large selection of shows. I watch it on my IPad and can also watch on my smart tv.

If you have high speed broadband in your Casita, consider a Roku.

https://www.roku.com/

There might be ten thousand channels (literally!) available through the Roku (and the bulk of the programming is free). On YouTube alone there are thousands of programs of every imaginable subject for every imaginable taste. The Roku device is available online from Amazon and at brick-and-mortar places like Walmart and Target. Cost of the Roku device - there is no subscription involved - is around $35.00. Buy the box and you are done (unless you want to sign up for premium channels - I never have).

Roku is simple to use, simple to set up - basically "plug and play".

I have had Roku for well over ten years, and have never looked back. MUCH better than over-the-air broadcast tv.

Irmi, I recently got the tubi app. There are commercials, but it's free programming because of them. Lots of different programming. I also pay $4.99 for Peacock a month. They have me 90 days free and I watched so much I decided it was worth the cost for their most inexpensive plan. I don't know what, if any, over the air channels I'll get this summer, so these will be my two main sources.

Again Beth. I really don’t understand why every once and awhile I have this situation arise. It is workin, quite obvious , now. Thanks again.

I am exercising more. Getting rid of the “blues”. Doing, on alternate days, water jogging and walking on the treadmill.
Hey Sheila, I did go out on the scooter this afternoon. Discovered a new store in the neighborhood , so bought a birthday present for my friend whom I am having lunch with tomorrow.

Irma, would you tell Carolb hi from me the next time you talk with her? I have enjoyed following the decorating of the casita.
Karen, love that table. I am one of those that has absolutely no decorative sense.

That’s all I can remember for now.

Tina, my house cats don't play together but CC stirs them up sometimes. They don't appreciate him at all. I see him playing with some of the outside cats. They can hold their own with him. There was a cartoon on Facebook that showed cats as students in a classroom. The teacher told them that there was a new student and to all hiss at her. The pretty much describes my cats.

I went to town to get a rotisserie chicken to make Sugar some treats. I cut it up in small pieces and boiled the bones to make a gumbo sometime. It's going to be cool for 3 days so maybe I can make gumbo tomorrow. I don't know what time the cold front got here. It was 84 when I went to town and it's 61 now. We were suppose to get more rain but that hasn't happened yet.

Good to hear from you Lyn. Glad you are out and about. My Meetup group had a couple of eat outs while I was camping and I was hoping they would schedule more.

The local grocery store owners retired and sold out to another small chain. I saw new faces today. Just hope they don't change too much. That's where most of my meals come from.

Got my second Vaccine today at 1:30 pm, and headed to my next campground, Leasburg Dam in NM. Had gotten gas in the morning and a few groceries so I am good for several days in case I get a bad reaction. Made it to new campground by 5 pm and am all settled down for the next few days.

So far, just a headache and some muscle aches, but I took two Tylenol and had a Coke, and it feels better. (Reason for Coke is that I occasionally have migraine headaches, and my doctor said I needed more caffeine when I had a headache, especially since I am not a coffee drinker. Caffeine is one of the ingredients in most migraine meds.) Going to go to bed early tonight.

As usual, I was up late last night and had set my alarm for 10 am to make sure I did not oversleep, however, that turned out to be a non-problem!! The medical center where I was scheduled to have my shot kept texting me to remind me of my appointment and to make sure I had filled out all the medical forms, especially the last-minute one. This started at 7:30 am and continued until 9:30 am, about every half hour! I got five texts in total. I could not ignore them because each one required a response!!! Every time I would doze off, I would get another "Bing" for a new message.

Then this afternoon, I got out my computer and found five emails from them matching the text messages!! Guess they wanted to make sure I showed up!

Don't forget to say "RABBITS!" after midnight tonight!

I woke up with bathroom issues this morning and was scheduled to work at the shop in Walmart today. All I could think of is having to run to the WM bathroom in a hurry or worse, that it would be closed for cleaning and would have to try to get to the one in the back of the store. That would be a disaster. So I called a co-worker who was scheduled at my regular shop to see if she would switch shops with me so I could have much closer access to a bathroom if needed. She was willing to switch, so that worked out. Then I loaded up on Pepto before heading to work. Not sure what triggered that episode because otherwise I felt fine. Maybe something I ate yesterday didn't quite agree with me. Luckily, I was fine the rest of the day. I am definitely still bloated tho. I feel like I look 6 months pregnant! :o

Was pretty busy today and made good tips again. I work again tomorrow and then have Friday off. Luckily no more days scheduled at WM for the next couple weeks.

I discovered that the towels and rug I ordered for the bathroom are a 'school bus' yellow! Way too loud for the bathroom! So I have been looking on line for a more mellow yellow. Hard to find! Towels can be very expensive, and affordable yellow ones are few and far between. I will try BB&B and see what they have. Otherwise I may have to just keep my teal towels and rug, and go with a yellow/teal combination, at least for now.

The temps will be in the mid to upper 90's here for another week I think. Not much wind even tho it was predicted. I sure hope it cools off some so I can at least paint the trim around the front slider on the deck.

My cough was finally gone a couple weeks ago but now is back again. I wonder if some of the disinfectants we use at work are causing that? Not sure but it is really annoying!

There are more vaccines available now out here than there are people signed up to get them. They are really trying to encourage everyone that is eligible to just go get one now. Tomorrow is officially when those 50+ can start getting them. Then in 2 weeks it will be open to everyone over 16. They are talking about another surge coming due to spring break and Easter gatherings. I guess people just don't learn. Texas and Florida (and some others) are already have surges due to spring break and those states dropping all restrictions. We still have strict mask and social distancing mandates here in CA. We have some spring breakers here in the valley, but mostly families rather than young high school and college kids. The beaches are a whole 'nother story. Time will tell...

Good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
