Morning All, just made it. Snowing but nothing like Sue or Peggys storm. Temperatures will drop so bringing in the lavender plant AGAIN. I always have to read what I posted the day before so I don’t keep repeating myself. I’m still thinking about the portable raised garden so checked and it is now $20 more so I guess not. During this pandemic gardening seems to be popular. No plans , so just waiting for dinner time. The highlight of my day. Be safe

Yes, we are getting snow! It’s beautiful though, if you don’t have to drive anywhere. The trucks were out early this morning spreading salt. I think they were hoping we wouldn’t get enough accumulation to plow. Not so, many inches and it’s still coming down. Hot chocolate and acWilliam Least-Heat Moon book is my afternoon. Peggy

Checking in. Still only weighed 137 this morning but I don’t seem to have lost any more weight. What I have lost obviously is any muscles I had. Earlier on in this current health detour I did remind myself to be thankful that I did have some positive health going on thanks to the dog’s insistent on moving and hiking. I still lack much of a new appetite but seem to be able to tolerate a few more flavors and textures.

Good to hear from you, Tina, and glad you are able to eat a little more. You will rebuild muscle, I imagine, when you start feeling well enough to do more moving around--maybe even going for walks one of these days??

I am at Dead Horse Ranch in Cottonwood, AZ, but have a lot of work to do. I also need to bake and frost sugar cookies for my California grandkids. I have put together goodie bags for the younger three in Ohio, and they are packed up and ready to send, so Tuesday will be my trip to the post office!

Nice and quiet here in the upper part of the campground, but reminded me of the nightmare several years ago when a big 5th wheel was across the street from me. There were two big pickup trucks and two families--four parents and five almost-adult teenaged boys, plus one very big Bouvier dog! (This campground allows up to 6 adults and 4 kids at each site--way too many.) Anyway, boys slept in tent and played various games in the roadway most of the day, plus they tied this huge dog to a bush at the edge of the road at 6:30 am each morning. The site was on a curve in the road, so the dog lunged and barked like crazy at anyone walking around the corner, and really went nuts if they had a dog with them! People would come around the corner, be startled and jump back a few feet. If they had a dog, it might also start barking, and this went on all day until dark for several days. I don't know why they had to tie dog right at the edge of the road, but you might guess how happy I and other neighbors were when they left!!!!!

Going to be a nice week with temps in upper 60s and lots of sunshine.

All good news, Tina if you choose to look at it that way, as I do. Little by little can add up to a lot. Keep moving little by little, keep adding new flavors and textures, and you will soon notice the improvements in mood and stamina. Go outside on a sunny day and throw a stick for Lark et al. Happy for your progress report.

Cold and cloudy still here today, so I’m watching the busy birds outside my window, and watching the Super Bowl pregame stuff, looking for a glimpse of my daughter who may appear on the big screen as part of a tribute to essential workers. She is an OR nurse at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. Photos were taken of her OR team wearing Buccaneers head gear with their scrubs the other day.

I made a big pan of lasagna yesterday which was dinner last night and again today after church for Bob and me and his daughter, Linda. The rest will go in the freezer for another meal sometime.

Tomorrow is predicted to be sunny and 70°.... just about perfect for working and playing outdoors.

Having expected a much worse winter here, I believe it is coming this week. Two nights predict lows of 9 and 13. We'll see. Rain has made a big dent in what is already on the ground. After that some nights will be a bit below freezing, but if roads don't stay icy, I should be able to get out in the afternoon - at least to the nearby grocery store.

Shirl, I have to go back to see what I wrote previously, too. Always happy to see everyone's posts, but sorry for the not so good news of ill pets, broken pool heaters, etc. The cooking always makes me hungry. I have really made use of the crockpot and freezer. Which reminds me I need to defrost because kids are bringing me groceries tomorrow.

I'll watch the Super Bowl rooting for the Chiefs. Kids aren't interested since Seahawks didn't make it.

I watched the Celebration of Life for the 9-year-old Montana boy with aplastic anemia I had followed on FB (along with 20,000 others). It was apparent during his struggles he was strong, kind, giving and respectful. Yesterday we learned he was also stubborn and could cause chaos with his 4 brothers. His parents told the best stories. There was a bit of a disagreement one afternoon when he claimed he was no longer part of the family (at age 5 I believe). His dad said well then he'd have to leave. He went out under the playhouse where they could still see him. Night was coming. A knock on the door 'Well since I don't live here, may I have my sleeping bag?'
It continued to get darker and, with wild animals in the area, his mama was not happy about him being out there. Dad took a Bluetooth speaker into the trees playing wild animal sounds. He started small and advanced to a bear. The boy would look around, but still didn't come in. Finally the dad put the sounds of 2 fighting bears on. A knock on the door - 'Dad, you better get out your rifle and take care of those bears! They are keeping me awake!' Dad patted him on the back of the head and told him to go to bed. He really was stubborn!

I'm not watching the super bowl. I can't get excited by either team. That said my bff is a big Chiefs fan, so I'll hope they win for her sake.

Tina, I love hearing about your forward steps. All these baby steps add up. Anita, that was a great story about that boy. Shirl, I love crispy wings. Yum.

It was beautiful here late morning/early afternoon. I didn't think we'd get high enough winds to make a difference, but even the lighter winds this afternoon for my sweatshirt back on. That's ok, I need to quit my moaning and groaning!

Coming on late here tonight.

Today was finally a normal, if not a bit quieter than normal, day at work. Most likely because of the Super Bowl. But I had a smooth jazz station on the radio so it was a nice, relaxing, peaceful day! I needed that!

Got home during half time. Wasn't too impressed with the show. The game was a disaster for KC but their quarter back had no one to throw the ball to. He had a lot of protection and had a lot of time but no one to pass to. Felt bad for him.

I have to go to the bank in the morning and deposit all my tip money, almost $700 for the past week! Tips are back to normal now too so nothing to get excited about today, but still appreciate each one I get.

I also need to stop and get my blood taken and tested for my current hormone levels to see where they are at since my pellets were inserted. Then back home to start getting caught up with stuff around here. I feel better now and have more energy so hopefully, I will get everything on my to-do list done in the next 2 days.

I better feed the outside kitties and then get to bed. I want to get up fairly early tomorrow.

Tina, glad to see you posting. Sounds like you are heading in the right direction, slow but sure.

Quiet day here, we aren't football fans so didn't turn tv on until supper and it was our shows on HULU. I love high school football, any other, not so much.
Today was try the Air Fryer day! I got it out, removed all packing, and boy was it well packed. Washed basket and bucket. Ran it through the required start up cycles and paired it with my phone. Then put a full pound of really thick bacon in and pushed the bacon button. That 8 min was not enough fo a full pound of thick bacon, so I ran a total of 20 min at their designated temp-320, in my opinion that is not hot enough. I will experiment. Once cooled that bacon was so good., even son kept wanting more, and he usually doesn't want more than 1-2 slices at breakfast but he agreed it was very good. I finally put half away so we wold have it for breakfast! I let it cool, dumped drippings in my liquid gold jar, wiped it to get chunks out then set basket /bucket in sink and ran hot water with Dawn. I was Impressed that in just a run of sponge it was clean,Then rinsed and dry. I wiped interior of housing with damp towel but there was nothing. Then set up for my tritip I had rubbed and at room temp. It was a fat almost 3 lbs. cooked on steak cycle then at lower temp to reach what I wanted. It was yummy. Tomorrow wings! I can see myself using this a lot! That was my excitement for the day.
Church was on zoom. I'm getting rather used to that.
I have been so worried about Mandy being so tired and noticed Saturday that she was really warm on my lap and sleeping way more than usual. Of course I'm concerned it was her heart. Then this morning bright and early she bounces out to greet me and ask for breakfast and all day has been better. Have to think past few days was not feeling good because of rabies shot Thursday . So I feel way better about her.
That was my day in a nutshell. Tomorrow morning I have to leave here at 0845 to take bird to her spa day. Who knew a vet wold give a parrot a bubble bath?!
