Morning All, sunny and cold on the shore. Waiting for the storm to arrive tomorrow. Sounds like a duzey, 4-12” of snow. Maryland hasn’t had snow for a couple of years so it’s our turn. As long as the power stays on, I’m good. I have been babying the lavender plant all winter, covering it at night. The temps have really dropped so brought it in last night. Like everyone else just staying home, cooking, eating and doing laundry. Be safe

Good morning everyone. Finally a break in all the rain we’ve had here in California, but more expected next week. Shirl, I imagine the snow you’re expecting is coming from the storm we’ve had here the last few days. Staying in and hunkered down, especially the eating part , sounds like a good idea.

Just checking in with an update. Got the first dose of COVID vaccine early Thursday morning. Since it was by appointment only it was an easy experience. No line, just checked in, sat down and got the shot, waited 15 minutes and was out. Thankfully no adverse reaction, just a little soreness around the injection site similar to previous flu shots. I received the Moderna version so will return in 4 weeks for the second dose. Will let you know how that goes.

Oregon is sorely lacking in getting the vaccine. Not sure why. I am not rushing out to get it unless I have an appointment. I have no desire to become one of the herd for hours. Besides they are still trying to vaccinate the medical staff and teachers but no vaccine. And this is not a large county. Jackson county has been doing much better. (where I used to live). I will probably be a late March or April appt, unless they step up their game. I will just continue to do what I have been doing, and stay in my little bubble. I surely have plenty to do around here. Will start painting in the near future.

Found a meal I want to make tomorrow on Cooking for One so will take the hamburger out to thaw for tomorrows meal. Tonite it is leftover chicken, stove top dressing, gravy casserole. I like the recipes on the Cooking for One website. Basically easy too. Sometimes I like to make enough to freeze and other times I just want a small dinner once, I really dont like those "cardboard frozen dinners" too much. I have a couple on hand just for a quick lunch but I try to avoid them.

Good for you, Sandi. Thanks for letting us know how you fared, it is encouraging news to hear that you had little reaction.

I have been looking for an appointment - or even a waiting list - for the vaccine for the last several weeks. Here in my smallish, rural county it seems that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. My county website tells me that "those 65 and older are now being vaccinated" but my local medical provider is only vaccinating those "75 and over". When I go to the site of my medical provider to make an appointment, it just says to "check back" (has been this way for weeks). When I try to get on a waiting list (the link is there sometimes, sometimes not) it just says the waiting list is "full" (how can a 'waiting list' be full? I dunno).

The county website also states that they are receiving about one thousand doses a week, and that there are twenty-five thousand "over 65's" in the county - so, doing the math (and also considering that finding an appointment, or even a waiting list, has been impossible) it might be July before I can get the shot.

There are a couple of pharmacies here that are - allegedly - also giving the vaccine, but one must put in their appointment website every piece of personal information I possess, including age, address, phone, SSI, Medicare number and. . . get this. . . my mother's maiden name. Now, why on earth do they need my mother's maiden name? This complete set of information is a perfect opportunity for now and future identity theft. I won't do it. These locally-owned pharmacies are not government entities, so who knows what kind of security they have on my submitted information?

I guess I'll just wait for my medical provider to offer the shot, or maybe my county health department will.

I'm hoping that the approval for the J&J vaccine is approved soon, maybe that will loosen up the bottleneck.

Thanks, Karen. I'm like you. My California county is small and rural, and I also have no wish to stand around with a massive group of people for hours waiting for the shot - I want to be able to get in, get out. The way things are currently going here, it might be July - or later - before I can get the vaccine. I'm not sure who they are vaccinating here now - the county website seems to indicate that everyone in Tier 1a has been vaccinated, and that "those 65 years and over" began with the vaccination on January 23 (a week ago), but it seems this isn't really happening, as I can find no where to get the shot.

Oh well. It is what it is.

My town in Arizona is getting about 150 doses a week. Not nearly enough. I'm on the hospital list, but they are scheduled two weeks out and I haven't made it yet. I'm also keeping up with a pharmacy in town, but they aren't taking more names on their waiting list until they start being able to fill more of those on it. I saw a map of Arizona and where the doses are going and it's all around Phoenix, then Tucson... The rest of us are not worthy, I guess. It's frustrating. Like Karen, I'll keep doing what I'm doing. Probably will after finally getting the vaccine, too.

It's almost 11 and poor Ty hasn't been walked yet. He's so good! But I better get on the ball.

My county, Palcer, is same, their site says 65 and over but none of the sites to register are taking anyone under 75! Left does not know what right is doing. I am on two notification lists. Got notice yesterday but when I went it was again only over 75 though the text said 65. Frustrating but I'll just keep doing what I have been. Got no where I need to go right now.
Need to do laundry today and drag shredder back to my room and get rid of papers from Mel's file cabinet. That will keep me busy a while.

Our county health department posted a form online to submit if you wanted the vaccine. I did a month ago and received an email last week that I would get an appointment when the vaccine is available and will get an update every week. Hopefully things will move more quickly if allotments are increased. Have heard a senior center and fire department hall will be set up with chairs safely spaced and medical personnel on hand if needed for people with appointments. Wouldn’t stand in line for first come but think having an appointment makes a difference. It will get better.

It's partly sunny and 75 today. I hope I have this weather next week. I decided to mow some of the weeds and clover that are taking over the yard. The riding mower started right up, miracle of miracles. It took about 10 pulls on the push mower and my shoulder is not happy. Now I need to spray what I can't mow.

My ex-sister-in-law called last night to tell me my nieces husband died. He has been in poor health for a while and had a kidney transplant about 10 years ago. My niece lives in Ft Worth and her husband's family lives in New York state so I have no idea where or if there will be a funeral. Her mother's family and my brother are buried in DeRidder. I'm not going to Ft Worth but if they have something in DeRidder I guess I have to go. We'll see.

Karen, now you have me hungry for chicken and dressing. I'm trying to think of something to cook for the pot luck at the campout. I like to cook something at home and freeze it. I'm not much for cooking in my camper. Tell Emma Happy Birthday.

Martha the chicken casserole is easy peasy. Bought a roasted chicken (altho I do my own in the instant bot or oven too) Cut into pieces. Make stove top stuffing. Make or buy chicken gravy. I bought a couple of packets. Cut chicken up, spread on bottom, add cooked stove top stuffing, pour gravy over. Voila dinnah is served.

I am not happy. New Mexico had a ban on people from other states staying in state parks through Jan 29, which was yesterday. I have three months of campsites, starting on Monday, and just got a call this morning cancelling all the ones through Feb 26. So now what do I do?? I am in Tucson.

I have been scrambling and found 5 days in McDowell regional park, northeast of Phoenix, and then reserved 8 days from Feb 15-23 back in Willow Beach along the Colorado near Las Vegas. But that leaves Feb 6-15, so I am just going to keep checking around Phoenix. I don't want to drive too far and I want to stay where it is warm, so am limiting myself, but hopefully, something will open up.

They could have made this decision like a week ago!!!!!

And I have given up on getting a vaccination. Will be easier when more sites are available, I hope.

What a long grueling day!! My feet hurt, my lower back is in a ton of pain! I am exhausted! I was
supposed to by off by 2 but we were swamped all day with 1 1/2+ hour wait times! After 2 months of being a couch potato and then being sick, I am in no condition for a haircutting marathon! I stayed until almost 4 with no break all day. I sure hope tomorrow is less busy! Oh, and I cut myself during a haircut. It bled a lot. Went thru several bandaides.

I am laying on my bed with a heating pad under my lower back. I need to find some dinner but my feet hurt to walk on. Hopefully, they will feel better in awhile now that I am off of them.

Got some good tips tho. $76 in cash and I don't know yet how much in CC tips. The guy who gave me the ladybug painted rock awhile back was in today. Another stylist cut his hair but he came over after and handed me $20 and walked away! Not sure what that was for.

Found out I made another $40 in CC tips today so despite being a rough day, it paid off pretty well financially. Just don't think I can take another day like that tomorrow tho, regardless of tips!

Had some dinner and now back on my heating pad. Will be in bed very early tonight!
