Cold Saturday

Good morning all, cold weather has arrived. Not a problem for my south facing apartment. It’s an open concept so like a toasty little cave. If this pandemic lasts much longer I will become a hermit. My plans for yesterday, didn’t feel like going out so didn’t. Found a recipe for spaghetti carbonara, made enough for two meals, ate it all so will be a fat hermit. I have continued PT exercise but think I need to do them twice a day to counteract the recipes. Be safe

Good morning Shirl & everyone!

Shirl, I Googled the recipe you made yesterday and it sounds awesome! You can't go wrong anytime you use garlic and bacon in a recipe.

Tina, I'm so sorry this illness has been so hard on you. I will add you to our prayer list in church tomorrow and continue praying for your health and recuperation.

It's very overcast in central FL and right now, we're having a light shower and temperatures will only be in the high 60's. The sun will come back tomorrow with warmer temperatures.

Our casita is almost ready to be painted. The sheet rockers were here yesterday to clean up the mess inside and got rid of most of the dust. The kitchen cupboards are to be delivered Feb. 22 and the furniture store will call the same day to see if we'll be ready to have the couch, chairs, end tables and coffee table delivered. Although it's been fun watching this come together, I'm so ready for it to be done.

Enjoy the rest of today.

Shirl, I think my daughter could be a hermit also. She's enjoyed working from home this past year.
Irmi, sounds like your casita is coming together. Can't wait to see more once you're in it.

Rain, glorious rain, today. Looks like it'll continue most of the week. Hooray! (until i have to wade thru the flooded sidewalks to walk Sadie. :( )

Not much else going on today. Making beef stew & that's about it.

Oh, by the way, I got the Moderna vaccine. Only side-effects were I needed a 20-minute nap in the afternoon (I never take naps!) & then my arm felt like I'd bumped into something the next day. That's it.

Stay safe & warm,
Catherine

Irmi, “Damn Delicious “has the best recipe for spaghetti carbonara. Most of her recipes are easy and tasty.

It's 65, overcast and very humid today. I'm so bored I'm thinking about taking the dog for a ride in the car for something to do. I guess I could go to town and pick up a lunch but trying to diet. Shirl, I'll have to look for your recipe. It's not often that I eat Spaghetti because if anything will upset my stomach it is tomatoes.

I got a call from Amazon from a local number this morning. They must think people are stupid. The scam calls are way down since my house phone was out for so long. Now they are sending texts about my pay pal account which I don't have.

Catherine, glad you got your shot.

Martha

Shirl, I have spent the majority of the afternoon on the Damn Delicious site and have copied lots of recipes into my recipe book. Thank you!

Good afternoon!

Shirl, I will be using that site for recipes! Yum. Thanks!
Thanks for letting me know which vaccine you ladies got! I like that Liz got one and Catherine the other with no apparent issues.
Martha, I got scam texts from two banks yesterday - one I'm not even a customer! I have been getting Amazon scam e-mails for quite awhile.
I will no doubt be a hermit in the winter here. Sheila, this special treatment is a one winter only thing. I'll have grown up transportation next winter. :) I'm kicking myself because I forgot to hand over the trash yesterday when they brought propane!
Good to see some rain in California! I think last night was our coldest yet - 23 degrees. It didn't get above freezing until after 11 this morning.
Sending good thoughts for Tina - what an ordeal.

Be safe and well!

Spent the morning hanging out with my old neighbor. He moved up here too just a couple streets over. We went cruising the second hand stores. I didnt buy much, a couple of pretty vases and a table decoration. He bought a really cool clock with a horse saddled up for his shelf, he loves the western motif. Then we stopped and had a pretty good meal of chinese food. It was good and not real expensive either. I brought half of mine home so will have it for dinner.

This afternoon I took down the UGLY valance that was in my family room. Ordered a couple of blinds the 2inch faux wood ones. Now I have more holes to patch. I swear I dont know what she had on her walls but there are upteen nails and nail holes everywhere. I dont have anything to hang on my walls right now except a couple of pictures in my dining room and one in my bedroom. Haven't seen anything that tickles my fancy yet for the living room. I did order a couple of lamps for my bedroom and should get the other two I ordered for my spare bedroom today or tomorrow. While I am typing they arrived....yay

Now time for my Caramel Mocha and a little boob tube therapy

Sheila, I just read how bad it is in Yuma with the pandemic. It said 1 in 6 residents have caught COVID, their positivity rate is high and it’s one of the worst areas in the country. I think you should think twice about going there.

Today was the last sunny day in the 60's for 5 or 6 days. I decided I best get propane Monday or Tuesday. So I unhooked my water and sewer today to make it easier on the cold and possible rain every day for a few. I should get up early Monday as we sell propane at the park Monday mornings. But 9 am will still be so cold and I'd have to walk Ty and unhook electric and cable first, etc. So I'm not promising myself I'll make that. It's only a few miles into town and the propane place. So either works.

I have a couple things in my Amazon shopping cart that I want and need. But I'm already busting my budget so as of now they are still in my cart. I have a feeling one day soon my finger will press to purchase.

Sandi, I think all of Arizona is scary right now. Worse than California now. I don't go in anywhere. Getting propane will be as close as I get to anyone. Unfortunately I'll have to go inside to pay.

I took the door down in the casita into the storage/laundry area. Whoever put that door in wasn't thinking and put it in opening into my living area. It's very awkward. Instead of buying a door opening the right way to open into the storage/laundry area, I took the door down and put a curtain up for now. I like it. Except it's about 2 inches too long and it'll stay that way lol

Other than the propane, I'll probably be a couch potato watching TV for the next few days. Oh, and looking for decent times to get Ty outside.

Nothing much to report here. Been raining off and on all day. More coming all next week. Yay!

Got my Covid test back and it is negative. Yay! My cough tho is worse today. Will turn on the humidifier tonight and see if that helps. I usually get these dry coughs for awhile after a respiratory illness, but I haven't been sick at all, jus this cough. No sneezing, no congestion, just a dry hacking annoying cough.

Good night!

Some good news about COVID in Arizona: the new cases over the past 14 days is down 31% for the entire country and 35% for Arizona! Just hope that continues. And California is down 35%, also. YEA!!! This is per The New York Times here: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/arizona-coronavirus-cases.html

There are still hot spots, and that worries me, but I can't do much about it except for staying indoors and home, wherever that is. I have this terrible urge to go shopping, although I really don't need anything. Got tons of groceries and pre-cooked meals to last me, but I am bored, as most everyone seems to be.

I am in Usery Mountain Regional Park until Wednesday, then heading for Gilbert Ray near Tucson for 5 days, and then into City of Rocks in NM. Wish it were warmer, however. I have two small electric heaters, Beth, that I use to conserve on propane as I hate trying to find a place to get a fill so often in this cold weather. Do you get charged for electric?

Yes I have electric heaters and yes I pay for electric. It costs less, much less, to use propane and when the temps are going much below freezing I want to use my propane heater and turn my water heater on propane overnight to keep my lines and water heater from freezing. Had I been able to foresee that my casita water heater would have big problems, thus I wouldn't need my big propane tank to the casita, I'd have looked into having that tank moved and connected to my rig. I'm still going to check on that, but I don't foresee it happening tomorrow lol. You pull out often to dump... For me getting propane here is easier than if I had to do that. Except I'm not a morning person, and that's when they pump propane in the park, only on Mondays. Thus I'll probably get up early and move the short distance to our propane tank or I'll sleep in and drive about 4 miles to the propane company on my time.
