Good morning gals!

Woke up early and just laying here enjoying the sound of the waves of the ocean. Was lulled to sleep last night by that sound and heard sea lions barking in the distance! Paradise!

Once the beach-goers get up, the traffic will move in.

There is a Motel 6 right behind here. It is the very first original Motel 6. They have it decorated in the old classic style like back when it first opened. Very cute! There is a Sambo's in town here too that was the first one opened as well (and probably the only one left). Still owned by a decendant of the original owner.

My plan for today is to check out some parks. One I have only been to once before, one I spent a lot of time at when I lived here, and also a beach I spent a lot of time at that is on the west end of town (SB faces south). Gotta stop for gas and breakfast first, once it warms up a little. Want to wear shorts and it is a bit chilly for that yet this morning. I plan to pick up a nice dinner tonight.

Have a great day! :D

If I could afford it, I would love to live here again, but it is horribly expensive here, so unless I win the lottery, that isn't gonna happen. Will just have to continue visiting when I can.

Sounds lovely, Barbie. I need to take a drive up there someday.
Glad Ty is feeling better. Sadie is terrible about grabbing stuff on our walks. She's cost me quite a bit after wolfing down a full napkin before I could get it out of her mouth. I have to be super vigilant with her. I've even considered a muzzle for her just to keep her safe, but I worry that people will think she is mean instead.

By the way, only side effect from the covid vaccine is my arm is a tiny bit sore - kind of like when you bump into something. That's it.

Hope you all have a great day.

Good evening gals! :D

i stopped to get gas this morning but somehow missed the McDonalds I planned to stop at for breakfast. Almost all the buildings out here are in the Spanish style white stucco with red tile roofs so they all look similar to each other. I stopped at the first park and walked around for a bit. I thought I had been there before but it didn't look familiar. Was very pretty! From there I stopped at the Santa Barbara Mission for some pics, and then I went to the botanical gardens. That has changed some but still very pretty. There is a creek that runs thru it but no water in it right now. I got really tired walking around tho (lots of ups and downs!) without having eaten anything yet.

I left there and went for a pretty drive thru the foothills and then down to a favorite beach of mine. By then, tho, it was packed and there was nowhere to park, with cars waiting in line for someone to leave. I didn't want to wait. I headed back to SB and to my motel. The beach across from me has a large lawn area between the street and the beach and every Sunday they have an art fair there. I assumed they would not be having it now due to Covid, but the tents were all set up all along the street. I went home to eat with the plan of walking back down to check that out. After I ate my other turkey sandwhich, I layed down and fell asleep for 3 hours! I woke up in time to head across to the beach for some sunset photos (if you are on the beach you can see it just behind the shoreline to the west). Walked up and down the beach quite a ways. It is always fun to people watch and see the dogs all running around having fun! Still have to go thru my photos tonight and get them posted on FB.

Tomorrow I plan to just hang out around downtown for a bit. I might drive to that beach again in the morning before it gets crowded and take some pics. There is a bird refuge just a couple blocks from here that I might take a walk to, and then relax either by the pool or on the beach. Hoping it will be a little less crowded tomorrow around here, altho it is a holiday, so maybe not so much. The small SB Zoo is just next door from here but is closed right now.

I hope you all had a good day! I am looking forward to another night of listening to the waves crashing and the sea lions barking!

Oh, yeah, just remembered...I had pulled over along a high cliff over the ocean and got out with my monocular to see if I could see anything way out in the ocean (like whales, dolphins, etc). Nothing like that, but I did see a group of something that looked like little dark heads bobbing in the water and each one would occasionally disappear under the water and then come up again. They didn't look like birds, but thinking either seals or sea otters. They were way out from shore. I think sea otters stay closer to shore than that, but I might be wrong.

Wow, what a quiet Sunday here. Neither my Walmart or Safeway in this little town do pick up orders. I stopped at the Safeway about 30 miles west on the way here this past Monday and today I did a pick up order at the Walmart a little further south. It was nice to get out and take a drive, so in some ways I'm glad. I don't know what I did with the rest of the day lol. It was nice out so ty and I got a couple good walks in. Otherwise, pretty lazy.

Catherine, Ty is constantly picking things up. I'm lucky this rarely happens. I try to watch carefully but obviously miss occasionally.
