New Years Eve 2020

Morning All, not an early riser anymore. Another busy day, cleaning, PT and pickup dinner.
Living in an apartment I try to be considerate of my neighbors so do not start washer, dryer or vacuum. I thought I would sleep from one year to the next but it is also Rabbits time. Remember to say Rabbits brfore Happy New Year. I am so bone weary of the chaos in our country. We have got to believe “it will get better”. Happy New Year. Be safe

Today a friend is stopping by and we’ll sit outside and enjoy a cup of tea together and talk until we get too cold. It’s a warm day relatively speaking and it has stopped raining. I haven’t seen her all year!!! This has been a year we won’t forget. Peggy

Good morning gals. I am very much looking forward to 2021. 2020 was not a good year for so many of us. I am recovering nicely tho from the devastating fire that swept our towns. It will be 4 months on the 8th that changed my life. I am thankful that I had insurance to help purchase a new home and do some necessary upgrades. I am also thankful for so many of you that helped make that possible. The friendships that I have made over the years nobody can take that away from me. Thankful that I have pretty good health and have been able to thwart the dreaded Covid so far. I will certainly try and remember Rabbits tomorrow. So far only remembering about a quarter of the time.

Hope everyone of us will have a great 2021. We cannot look back only go forward.

Today will be installing the new towel racks, toilet paper holder and hand towel holder for both bathrooms. Got my throw rugs yesterday and so far it looks really nice. Then I can hang my lovely new towels up. They are so soft I love them. Vacuuming is on my agenda today as the worker bees tracked in lots of dirt I suspect. I use Henrietta my robot vacuum to spiff things up in between the deep down cleaning about once a month. Will also swiffer my wood floors because I found some spots that need to be cleaned up. I already dusted so that is done. Then will have some lunch and settle in for a movie or two this afternoon. I hopefully will see the ball drop but if I dont it will just have to drop without me LOL

Was headed to Las Vegas but am spending an extra day here in Tehachapi. Woke up this morning to strong winds and an inch of snow so do not want to drive. Tehachapi is a very pleasant town at 4,000’ on a pass between Bakersfield and Mojave, CA.

I think not driving is a smart decision!!

Woohoo, the last day of 2020! This has been one for the records - sure am praying that 2021 is better.

Tina, I hope you continue to feel better little by little each day.
Karen, sounds like the new place is coming together. 2021 really is a new start for you in your new place.
Ditto for Anita. Sad to hear about the bomb threats in your beautiful new town - looks like a hidden paradise. Looking forward to seeing your new home when you move in.
Barbie, you continue to amaze me as you make so many improvements to your home. Me, I move in, I get my stuff in, I'm pretty much done. I don't have 1 ounce of decorating ideas.
Peggy & Shirl, I enjoy seeing your posts & faces when I stop in to see what everyone is up to. It's almost like having a nice little visit.
Cheryl, I enjoy following you both here & on FB. Have to admit, I'm living vicariously thru your travels. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
Same for you JudyB, Beth & others who are on the road. Your posts let me dream. I know there are hassles, but the freedom to roam still calls to my heart.
Beth, I'm praying for your friend & her husband. Can't even imagine what you are feeling as they battle this terrible virus.
Judy, how are your injuries? getting better? And definitely a good decision to stay put rather than travel in high winds and/or snow.
Martha, black-eyed peas for New Year's. I love them - sometimes wonder why I don't fix them more often. Didn't know they would freeze well.
Sharon, I also recommend searching utube to see how to do most anything. After watching a couple, I decide if it's something I can handle myself or not.
Sheila, I tackle 1 cabinet at a time too - the problem is before long it needs it again.
Anne, thanks for keeping us well-informed when fires or floods threaten. Your research is valuable.
Velda, your evening of appetizers sound wonderful to me. I miss having all my kids and/or siblings together on these holidays - lots of finger foods & mayhem - loved it & miss it now. I picked up pizza rolls for my treat this evening.
Irmi, yikes that was some snake! Looking forward to seeing the casita when it's done.
Lyn, I love seeing your posts - keep 'em coming.

I plan on a quiet New Year's eve & Day. Will run down to San Diego on Saturday to help assess what remains to be done to get my DD out of their apartment. She's sold most everything but wants to bring their bed to my place. SIL is already in France & she will join him mid-Feb. They are moving just carrying 2 suitcases each - they will get remaining things as we go visit them or when they return here for visits.

I resume taking care of the kids next week. I've enjoyed having this past week off to make room for my DD's stuff here, but will enjoy getting my grands back along with a regular routine.

Good morning gals!

Got woken up early this morning by Lola getting sick. I jumped out of bed quick to move her to a better spot from where she was. In the process, I really hurt my shoulder by moving it the wrong way. I had a burning sensation all the way from my shoulder down my arm into my fingers. I felt nauseous from the pain! I need to call my doctor about the physical therapy she was supposed to set up for me.

Need to run to WM and the bank today. Try to get to laundry as well. No plans for tonight unless there is something on TV to watch. I might frost my hair too. My hair gets so limp and lifeless unless it is frosted and gets some body to it. I can't seem to do anything with it now to make it look decent.

Then "rabbits" and off to bed. I am so sad about not having the Rose Parade to watch tomorrow morning! I never miss that and always really look forward to watching it. It is so beautiful! Hopefully, next year!

Am really hopeful that 2021 will be a much more promising year of economic recovery and health for everyone. I know the economy is gonna take a real hit over the next several years and a lot of businesses are closing. We have one Cheesecake Factory here and that is closing. Also many of the Olive Gardens are closing. Not sure if ours is but I hope not. Hopefully, there is light at the end of this dark tunnel we are going thru. As for Covid, I hope the vaccine will cover the new strain that has been discovered now and we can all start getting back to pre-covid routines in our lives.

When I went in for my cleaning last month I was told that I had a one year waiting period for cleaning from when my insurance began which was last March when my insurance switched me to another company due to Covid. They even called the insurance company that day and were told that I had to wait even tho I have been insured for 3 years and should have that waived. So we rescheduled for January 4th, next Monday. So I just called the insurance company to straighten that out before I go in, since I have an e-mail in front of me from them saying I have been insured for the past 3 years. I talked to a really nice lady who verified that for me and said I should have no problem with my dentist. I had her call them and tell them that while I was on the phone with her. So we got that straightened out but the dental office did not have any record of my appointment on Monday. So I was able to get an appointment for next Friday instead. Geez! Talk about incompetent! I sure hope this is the end of all my insurance woes!!
I also called my doctor about the referral for physical therapy and they said that is still pending because the shoulder x-rays are still waiting to be done. I told her I had the x-rays done the same day I was there to see my doctor (they even called me last week to tell me the results of the x-rays). I have never had so many problems with doctors and dentists before! What is up with that??

I slept in this morning until 11:30, but that is because I was up twice in the night for more than an hour each time. The first time was when I could hear and feel wind rocking my motorhome and the second when I noticed the snow and had to put ice on my scrape because it was hurting me. I got online and checked wind on the weather channel, and then decided that tomorrow would be a better day. It was really temping to get out of here this morning because I want to go where it is a little warmer, but I did not want to slide off the freeway (CA 58).

So, am enjoying a cup of the split pea soup I made. I have a full tank of propane and two electric heaters running, plus my rear furnace if I need it. To treat myself, I had ordered a medium-weight down comforter before the holidays to replace the light-weight one I had. Good thing, because I really needed it last night.

Catherine, my bad scrape on my foot is still not healed. It is slowly producing new skin on the edges, but it is still open and seeping in the middle. I have been using bactricin, but sometimes it really stings, however, I don't think it is infected. I've been using ice packs when it stings. I am guessing I have another two weeks to go.

Anyway, Happy New Year to all of us and our families! 2021 has got to be better than 2020!!

Judy, thanks for the update on the foot. I hope it heals on its own, but do have it seen if necessary. (says the woman who hates to go to the doctor for anything )

Judy it stings because your surface nerves are rejuvenating. That is a good sign, especially seeing the new skin forming. If you can elevate it and let it air dry for a little while each night that will help also.

Judy, there are a few things to look for on your wound. Obviously if it is red and swollen around the area, it could be infected. Also if it feels hot, or has a stinging or prickling sensation, then it is a good idea to get it looked at. Just keep a close eye on it. Infections are nothing to mess with.

Well, I have had 2020 following me all day long. Nothing but stupid problems! I did get to the bank, got gas and shopped at WM. I went to my storage unit and someone was driving thru the security gate when I got there so I went in behind them. Then I couldn't remember which unit was mine. Then I realized I didn't have the key for the lock with me anyways (I always keep it in a secret place in my car). So I decided to just leave and come back better equipped later. Well, I put in my code to open the gate to get out and it wouldn't work. I tried it several times and no go! So luckily I had my phone with me (which I don't always take with) and called the office. Turns out they changed my code but didn't bother to tell me! So she told me what it was and then opened the gate for me. She also told me which unit was mine but I still have to find the key for it.

I also called the library about picking up a book I ordered. Turns out I waited too long and missed the hold deadline by 2 days so I had to reorder a hold on it.

Will be glad when today and 2020 are over with!! Just gonna take it easy now for the rest of the day. Got some snacks for tonight. The wind has really picked up this afternoon! Palm trees are swaying!!

I had a delicious dinner and am now enjoying a frozen mudslide. As per instructions from an old neighbor, at midnight I will go out on the balcony and wave my middle finger to 2020. I won’t say anything because I don’t use use that kind of language. Dang, mudslides are good.

I got another Italian beef today... Yum. I ate half today to see the year out and will eat the other half tomorrow to see the new year in. So good. This place has avocado bites (slices of avocado deep fried) so I got an order of those also. They are yummy, too. I'm going to have to figure out how to do those in the air fryer.

I barely slept last night so don't know if I'll be up at midnight. Hopefully I'll remember rabbits!

treated myself to a deli sea food salad to have with crackers tonight as well as a broccoli salad sure good... although I do believe that my mom's seafood salad is better it still tasted good... got stuff to make a cheese ball the lady doing it made it look so easy could be cause of that stand mixer that she had to use... and I don't... we will see how it goes...as well as the grated cheese in a bag that she had... will let you know how it goes...

I too hope that the new year brings an end to a lot of ills.... that we can have more... of whatever one needs in our lives
need to spend some time figuring out my phone and how to create more storage space in it... it's forever telling me down load not done... insufficient storage it's mostly not knowing how to do things...
we haven't seen much of Ava lately hopefully she will pop in for our monthly check in
