Good Morning All, Another household chore day for me. Yesterday, took a walk and did my strength exercise with a band and soup cans ate an orange and felt so healthy. :) Trying to decide on a day for a pickup order at Sam’s, need a coconut cake. I don’t bake cookies anymore but do make fudge as gifts for my family. Irmi, finally hear geese. Be safe

Tina ((hugs))

Good morning Shirl and Everybody from foggy Hartford. I think it is going to be relatively warm today, so I’m going to cut back the late blooming mums and rake some more. Nothing much happening here.

Irmi, what’s the difference between a casita and a little house? Can you sleep in your casita?

Enjoy today. Peggy

Got an update from Dennis this morning re Tina:

Surgery to remove gall bladder was last Monday, and feeding tube removed also. It was hard for her to eat, still uncomfortable. Medication change on Friday, eating a little better. Scheduled for CAT scan tomorrow.

Tina, we are all here for you, and thoughts and prayers continue for your recovery. Keep thinking positive thoughts.

Thank you and please thank Dennis for the update, Liz. Here's warm wishes and prayers that new meds and the ability to swallow liquids start doing their job. Tina is very missed.

Off to work for me.

Another boring day. I'm sure Tina would rather be bored than sick. Liz, thanks for the up date.

I thought it would be raining by now but it looks like it is going just North of me. The prediction went from 80% to 40% There is nothing on TV I want to watch. Even the weather channel is showing shows instead of the weather. My ex-daughter-in-law had sent me some frozen food. I managed to cut the Chicken Lasagna in half with out cutting myself or breaking a knife. Even half of it is enough for 4 meals. It's pretty good but very cheesy. I had part of a bottle of wine from the campout so decided to drink some while I waited for the lasagna to bake. Not a good idea to drink wine on an empty stomach. Now I may have to take a nap.

I have an old picture album that I put my favorite recipes in. I have stuffed so many recipes in it that it's over flowing. I found a ring binder and started putting recipes I have tried and liked in. If I was really organized I would find some dividers and arrange it by foods. A friend sent me 2 pounds of pecan halves. I use to take pralines to the campouts and they wanted to know where the pralines were at the last campout. Guess I'll have to make some for the next one.

Inky showed up for supper last night so the three stooges are accounted for. He doesn't look like he has missed any meals so he's either a good hunter or has found someone to feed him. He is probably eating the neighbor's dog's food. The dogs are afraid of him.

I have my mother's old box of 3x5 cards where she either copied recipes in the 50s and 60s or cut and pasted the recipe from magazines. It, and her 1940s Women's Home Companion cookbook are the only two recipe sources I did not throw out when I downsized. Anyone remember Watergate Cake??

Still raining or sprinkling in Napa, which is very welcome. It looks like all of Northern California is getting rain, also, which is fantastic for the fire danger level. (Of course, Oregon and Washington ALWAYS get rain!) I was going to get my son's help putting air in all my tires, but it is too cold and wet, plus he has work today, so we are both staying home.

Glad Tina is doing better.

Hi ladies!

Liz, thanks for the update on Tina. Tina, I wish you were feeling better and hope you continue to heal.

The casita we bought, and which lots of the property owners here have, is a 12 x 32' building. On the inside, we are allowed to build according to our wants and desires, but are not meant for sleeping quarters for ourselves. Our visiting friends may stay for up to two weeks and if we need to put our coach in shop, they allow us to stay there, but our motorhomes are our sleeping quarters. We do have a kitchen on one wall in the casita and a full bathroom with a walk in shower. The main portion of the building is a den and we have a small room in the back that lots of folks use for a garage for their golf carts. I'm thinking along the lines of making that a music room for me to practice for church. The plumbing and walk in shower were installed this past week and the electricians are coming tomorrow or later this week to do the wiring. We still need to pick out the granite for the kitchen counter and buy a paddle fan with light kit for the den plus recessed ceiling lights for the den and kitchen.

Our weather has finally warmed up and we have the a/c on instead of the heat.

Shirl & Martha, I had to read Steve your posts about drinking wine on an empty stomach and we both got a good laugh out of it!

A friend bought me a new power cord for my laptop, as I've been using our old HP, so now I can capitalize all my letters and correct mistakes, plus my question mark (?) works. I was almost getting used to the HP and now I have to remember how to work my Dell. I should have a glass of wine with Shirl & Martha.

Tina, I am so sorry you are having such a rough time! Thinking of you each day and hoping for improvement.

Seahawks are beating the Jets so bad, they have put the 2nd string in. I turned it off. Another nice snow overnight.

Long story, but 30 years ago I gave up red meat for the most part. If I was visiting and someone served it, I ate it. We had such a large E.coli outbreak back then. I won't use hamburger, but have been having some red meat lately. I had a favorite stew recipe, but I apparently threw it away so have a similar one in the crockpot. We'll see.... It calls for red wine so I believe a glass would be good. :)

I'm not sure how old he was when my grandson asked my daughter to write down recipes/how to cards for him. One I remember is a fried egg sandwich. Monica recently found those cards and is creating a box for him for Christmas. :) She found some his other grandmother who passed away recently had written so she's including those.

Sheila, I had to look to see who was robbed in Salome - of all places Dollar General where Carolb and I shopped especially after pandemic started.
Martha, I love the tales of your cats! My aunt has farm cats - sometimes quite a few at once. Most aren't very friendly.

Be safe!

The line of rain just blew through here, knocked the lights off for 5 minutes, blew stuff off the porch and dropped the temperature 14 degrees. There were tornado warnings North of here but don't know if any touched down. I made it through the day with out going stir crazy. I haven't talked to anyone but the dog and cats. Anita, the cats usually don't stay wild here. I don't know how they are around the neighbor when he feeds but they are trying to kill me by getting in my feet. The Dollar General stores around here are the usual places that get robbed. I wouldn't want to work in one because sometimes there is only one worker on duty. They are so under staffed that stuff is usually all over the floor waiting to get put up. Crime stoppers on TV is forever showing pictures of people just leaving with baskets of stuff. When I worked for the rice company they would sell big orders of products that were getting close to the expiration date to the dollar stores. I mentioned that to someone that worked for them and they got very indignant and said they didn't do that. Huh, yea they do.

Some of the recipes I have in my book are some my aunt typed on cards and sent to me. I treasure them because I was very close to my aunt. I still miss talking to her. I need to show the book to my son, he likes to cook and hope he would take it someday. My mother would cut recipes out of the paper all the time. Sometimes her things didn't turn out that good. My dad did all the shopping and I think she would substitute something for what she didn't have. I have a thing on my Mac called Notes. I found out I can copy and paste recipes into Notes and not waste paper and ink printing them.

The only thing I can find on TV to watch is carnival food. Just what I need, more food. I have some Funnel Cake Mix but I haven't made one in a long time. If I really want a pancake for breakfast sometimes I will make a funnel cake.

Anita if that guy was smart he would take off and go to a big city where he wouldn't stick out... neck tat's not sure what it would be called on the arm a sleeve but the neck don't know... and it wasn't the tat's that made him scary  perhaps what some of the tat's were might have added to it...
I probably should be more diligent at locking the door though...
it was a Sunday did the normal Sunday things church nap chat... read a book it's a 3 in one so the stories are perhaps shorter but did finish one today... got my crocheting done... I like this guy who tells stories so I crocheted while watching him then on to chat with the family.. right now I have Christmas music on Pandora one thing I wish the station would do more of they only have Christmas music Christmas day... like a very short time need to find mine and listen to some of the CD's
well that is my itty bitty news..
was glad to see the news about Tina hopefully she will continue to heal and be with us soon
Irmi that casita is going to be so nice

Someone on one of my FB groups was asking about Swiss steak recipes. My mom used to make the best Swiss steak at Christmas and she gave me the recipe once. So I went thru my recipes I have of hers (all hand written) but could not find it. That is too bad :( . I would have loved to try it the way she made it. I do remember some of what she showed me for it. I also have some typed recipe cards from my aunt. She was a great cook too and gave me some recipes of the dishes I loved. I found one last night that I really want to try soon. For someone who doesn't cook, I love saving recipes I find on-line or in magazines. They have to have pictures tho! I also save on-line recipes to Pinterest.

Irmi, your casita is almost the size of my whole house! Mine is 10 X 40. Can't wait to see pics when it is all done! Do you have a golf cart?
