Cold Thursday

Postby Shirlv » Thu Nov 19, 2020 9:39 am

Morning All, Really chilly out this AM. Have the little ceramic heater from the Rv on and directed to the bathroom for shower. Our family will gather in small groups instead of one large one for Thanksgiving. I’m staying home because still feeling under the weather. Son will bring me a meal on wheels. :) Another physical therapy appointment today. Looking forward to having my back massaged/manipulated/hurt. It does feel better after. :? This site is the highlight of my day, please post a itty bitty news. Stay safe

Good morning to all. Looks like it is going to be a warm one today and we will be on the road. 250 miles to a truck stop. I know that doesn't seem like a long distance but here in Mexico driving an RV and towing it seems like double that. Lots of toll booths to go through and topes to go over and just plain crappy road. Up till now all the road has been new concrete but that changes when we get into the next state.
But we take our time. No hurry to spend night in a parking lot. Tomorrow we will get to Mazatlan to the campground - another 260 mile day. Ugh. The campground we are in now is usually full, there are only 5 American rigs here. Seems strange to see it so empty. Was usually filled with Canadians who can't cross into the US this year to make the trip. No problems cross the Mexican border at all.
Been seeing lots of sanitary practices here. Masks, social distancing, even had to walk through sanitizer to get into one restaurant. We were the only people there. Sanitizer on tables. All servers wearing masks. Sat outside.
Will be interesting to see how Mazatlan is. Will be without internet for a few days, Will check back in when I can.

Just getting ready to head to Death Valley. Should only be about a 2 hour drive. Google says 90 minutes but I never drive as fast with the rv. I'm just waiting for the morning to warm up a bit to walk Ty. And my sinuses are bad this morning. I wish I could figure out the nights this would happen. But it's a surprise when I wake up with my head totally stuffed during the night. At least then I take something and there's some improvement when I get up in the morning. Maybe I'll start taking the pill to help at night instead of mornings. Can't hurt to try.

Beth - If you don't already have one, you might want to get a small steamer type humidifier. Whenever it is very dry, I wake up so stuffed that I'm not able to breath and keep the nasal relief sprays right beside the bed, too. You are heading to about the driest place in the country!

I have a good size tabletop one - found it in Target, but WM, pharmacies, etc carry them and they work very well. But last year for my birthday a camping buddy gave me a very small decorative looking one about the size of a softball. It's electric, comes with a wick (and 3 spares) and I use distilled water in it. Lasts all night. Mine has a little button that changes colors as it's working, but I never use that feature. I bet WM has them near their scented candles, etc. Anyway, keep in mind that extreme dry air is terrible for sinus and bronchitis.

Hope you like your new job and location.

Good afternoon!

Obviously, I am not a morning person. :)

Since the apartment complex is across the street, today I can see them spray 'painting' one of the buildings. I believe it's just an undercoating and the pretty siding will be added. I can also see some of the utility installation off to the side - watching cement trucks, pickup trucks getting stuck in the mud, etc. We are getting a little sun and no rain yet today.

Anything needing to be done doesn't seem so pressing now - afraid I'm becoming a bit of a couch potato with games, tv and books.

And that's my itty bitty news. :) Everyone stay safe!

Evie, I did bring my small humidifier. I should have gotten it out today. It does make a big difference. This morning I survived because of the nasal saline spray and Tylenol. I was getting the lay of land today and didn't pull the humidifier out. Tomorrow will be a long day... Orientation in the morning then I'm working 11 to 7:30. I'll try to get it out between orientation and my shift.

Shirl, I hope you physical therapy helped. I have had 2 headache free days which is great.

I didn't do much yesterday except go get Anne's flea treatment and get the utility trailer off the hill. The deli had gumbo and meatloaf so I picked up two meals. I can make two meals out of each one. I wanted to get the trailer down without bothering the neighbor to do it for me. He had parked it really close to the carport but I got it done.

This morning I made more chocolate banana bread. My son was coming so I wanted to give them some to try. Since I had the oven hot I baked some cornbread to put in the freezer in case I want to make dressing next week. I am going to have to make more cornbread because it looked good so I ate some.

I finally got the insurance report on the hurricane damage. I only have 2 small leaks that I see. They think the whole metal roof needs to be replaced. I can't believe that the ceiling in three rooms needs to be replaced. That is going to be a mess. I better start moving stuff. I haven't heard from the company I called.

Beth, glad you made it to Death Valley.

been a busy day moved the stuff outside so it is out of the way when I bring the trailer back want it in a slightly different spot over about 5 feet... so I can get around the bush get to the generator easier... and also bring the propane tanks around easier... although today since I needed to move them anyway I decided to take them in and get them filled then I backed the truck up as close as I could get it (almost backed into the fire pit  ) but didn't and was able to get them off and to a spot out of the way... will move them closer when it's where I want it...
it's hard to use water when you don't use a lot I am pretty sure that most of that 30 gal barrel is going to be dumped if I'd thought about it would have suggested that we just pump it back into his tank... but didn't think of it and he has probably filled it already ... need to clean stuff off my bed that came out of the shower.... it doubles as a stash all :o didn't want to put stuff back when it was still dampish...
read were there was a body found out here... when I came home on Weds saw the police cars wondered but they were at the check in area and on way out so didn't think much about it... guess two guys stopping to see if he wanted his rig pumped out found him he was laying on the ground... so sad... my kids are worried about me being here by myself... think I will send them phone numbers of people to call if they can't get a hold of me... it might relieve some of their worries...
so the inside is pretty much done other than the last minute stuff when I get off the computer will but that away as well as the stand just remembered the small table will need to put it somewhere even if just outside... and decide if I am bringing in my metal flowers not going to be gone long but ....
and there are a couple things outside that I didn't want to get down till in the morning
hope this doesn't take too long ...
glad you made it to Death Valley safe enjoy your stay hope it is what you want
you all have a good one

Beth, good luck with the new job. They are really throwing you into it right away!

Sheila, was the man murdered or just died of natural causes? You could get one of those Life Alerts. My dad had the Life Station and it worked great!

Work was really busy today. The state is getting a curfew starting on Saturday from 10pm to 5am to try and control the virus some. If that doesn't work, they will start shutting things down again. I think we were so busy because people thought we might be closing by Saturday, but it is just the curfew for now.

Have a good night...
