Morning. Last Tuesdsy of October and one week to Election Day. Two months to the end of the year almost. I think we will all be glad to see it gone.
Beth, those were beautiful pictures you posted yesterday. The sun has been a rare thing here this month, but the next week or so is supposed to be dry and nice. Lot of people are happy as they haven’t been able to get their leaves cleaned up or winter preps done. I think those who are retired have been keeping up, but those working haven’t been able to take advantage of weather breaks along the way. We had another light dusting of snow on the rooftops, leaves etc., yesterday morning.
Not sure what I am getting into today. Got all kinds of things to pick from
I do want to crank up my leaf blower and clean up the leaves etc., from our sub entrance and make another pass over the walking pathway. My snowblower was picked up yesterday and In for pre winter servicing, so that will be set to go. I have some stuff in the basement to take to Salvation Army store, want to do that this week. Next month is my yearly round of the doctors etc. too.
Martha, keeping an eye on Zeta and hoping you don’t have to evacuate again. Hope you gals in CA aren’t getting smoked to death out there. I guess the snow thry got in CO isn’t going to stop the fires there either.
Well, my mind is wandering off on today’s activities, so am going to wish you all a nice day and get with it.

Still watching the weather. The last update has Zeta going more to the East. I talked to the guy that has the calves here and unless the storm track changes they aren't moving the calves. Unless the track moves back this way I don't think I will leave either. Right now it looks like it will be more like Sally. I can't win with my phone. At 6:00 this morning I get a Tidal Surge warning 36 hours in advance. If the storm goes to the East we won't get a surge. One good thing is I don't have much that has to be picked up now. Just the cat bowls on the carport.
I need to go get cat food so guess I'll go to Walmart too. I want to look for the snack size bags of treats before Halloween. I usually buy a couple of the big boxes of treats. That keeps me from eating a big bag of chips or pretzels.
I am trying to figure out how to get the push mower into the truck. There is a ramp under the porch but I don't know that I am strong enough to push it up the ramp.

It was only 34 degrees when I took Ty out this morning. They were streaming our board meeting at 9 am, so I watched most of that. Still too cold to consider the digging up of cactuses and weeds. So it got put on the back burner, again. Maybe tomorrow lol. Two bookcases were just delivered so I might get them put together shortly. The carpet order I tried to cancel came last night. I have to drive it about 45 minutes away to return it. That's on tomorrow's agenda. Luckily I have enough propane and I have an electric heater for both the rv and casita. I'm guessing it's cheaper to use the propane in the rv.
Time to bundle up and walk Ty again.

I abandoned my campsite in Grand Canyon this morning because I just could not deal with the cold anymore. It was a high of 37 yesterday and low last night of 14, so it was hard to stay warm, even with two electric heaters and my furnaces going. I had a big cup of beef vegetable for dinner and set it on the floor beside me for just a minute. The cold air blowing in from the cab area cooled it down so I had to reheat it! Also, I was getting low on propane so I just said forget it, I would leave a day early and eat the cost for one day.
No bike riding yesterday, but Grand Canyon does have some terrific bike trails--all paved. If you don't have a bike, you can rent one, but it was just too cold for bike riding. I did have one interesting experience, but did not have my camera or even cell phone handy. I had my hose pulled over to the passenger's side of my motorhome and was filling the fresh water tank, but some of the water was dripping. And the one female elk with her calf heard it and came over to investigate. They are really thirsty, so she had her nose literally within a few inches of the water fill hole and my hose. I just stood very still, but I could have reached over and patted her on her nose, and I doubt if she would have left. So, when I was done filling, I took the hose to the other side, with her following me, and filled the cement depression with water so she could drink. In fact I filled it several times--she must have drunk over a gallon. She would not let her half-grown calf drink however, so she made do with licking the cement and getting a little from the ground.
However, an hour or so later, I notice the calf nursing, which I think she is a little old to be doing. In fact, she had to kneel to get under her mother! Her mother only gave her a few seconds, however, but I looked it up and Google said elk calves get weaned at 2-3 months! This one was maybe 6 months old.
Anyway, I am in Kingman today. It is going to work out because I am going to get an RV wash at a nearby Blue Beacon, propane fill, and groceries tomorrow before I go to Willow Beach Marina for a few days. And low tonight is only going to be 35, so no worries about staying warm!!

It's hard to imagine Beth and Judy being so cold when it was 88 here. I finally got the yard mowed. I wanted to do that before we get more rain. Parts of the yard are still very wet. I got the mower loaded and brought to the shop. Probably not something I should be doing because my shoulder still hurts.
I got carried away with the Halloween snack bags. I think I got about 6 different kinds. When I was checking out, the lady in front of me had some cheese crackers. I didn't see those. Might have to go back. lol They have that kind of stuff scattered all over the store. Last year they had small bags of cracker jacks but I didn't see them today.
My insurance adjuster finally called and is coming in the morning. Good thing I don't have to leave. I want to get that over with.

Hard for me to imagine, also, Martha! It was only a little more than a week ago that I was sweating in the heat! Big shock to the system!! My poor body does not know how to react. Dropped down today from 7,100 feet elevation to 3,300, so that helped. Maybe I will be out of breath less.

finally have my truck forgot that they had to do an alignment and it had to go somewhere else for that to happen... but it's home thankfully 2 daughters and my son are helping and after the new year will try to pay them back... they actually between the three of them almost will have paid the whole thing part of me is thinking I ought to tell my eldest that she doesn't need to give me as much but part of me thinks that I may need it when it comes time to pay my share of the cataracts. As I really don't know much about that...
I am toying with staying here till Mon I looked at the weather and it's good all next week for travel guess I will see if I can afford the extra days and if I can stay in this spot if I can't might as well leave as it would be silly to hook up to move to a different site. guess we will see tomorrow
spent the afternoon or most of it with dd and her two kids at the shop visiting with nephew while her car was being worked on...she did like the babies afghan so glad will post a picture on FB might send it to Beth as well and see if she will post a couple pictures of it as well as the other afghan that I made for my nephew...
it's funny how different people exhibit thankfulness... my niece is so over the top with liking her afghan she sent me another photo with her cuddled up in it as it's cold in CO... my other niece barely said thanks and I am worried about the next afghan being the colors that my nephew wanted if he doesn't like it will keep it and give it to another nephew and is wife... I really wouldn't put it past him if he didn't like it to just toss it away
... so would rather give him a choice if you don't like this one then you go buy the yarn (I will repay you for them) and then I will make the afghan won't choose colors for him again
but I have a habit of looking for the worst some days was going to send a photo to his mom but the yellow came out too yellow not true at all to what it looks like...
did get a new charger and it works so much better actually charges faster and even on the extension cord....
you all have a good evening/day
try to get warm I don't think I will need to run the heat lamps tonight will check later but think it's going to be above freezing
one of the reason's for not going on Thurs is that with out the truck didn't get some of the things I wanted to do accomplished... excuses I know

Sheila, if it were not for my asking for lens upgrade, mine wouod have been no copay, standard IOLs ( lens implant) and surgery should all be covered by Medicare. Do check though.

Same with me, Sheila. No copay at all for my cataract surgery because I had the standard lens. Hopefully, that will be the same for you.

Sheila, I'm happy to post pics for you if you send them to me. I got one of the two bookcases delivered this afternoon put together. I'll do the other tomorrow. I could have easily done both today, but I want to move something currently sitting where one will go and looking at the clock I decided to get myself dinner and watch The Voice and do the rest tomorrow. My favorite time to watch that show are the blind auditions. I rarely watch regularly after those, but enjoy those tremendously. I'm going to try to sleep in tomorrow so I won't be out walking Ty in the freezing cold. I'm glad temps will start back to normal as tomorrow progresses. Being the desert, mornings during the winter are cold, but that doesn't mean they have to be that way this early. Judy, I probably would have given up last night at the Grand Canyon also. Good decision.

I think I remember Sheila talking about getting a medicare supplement. If she doesn't have a supplement it would probably affect the cost of cataract surgery. For some reason I had to pay an extra $100. I don't remember what they told me that was for.

I searched Medicare and Cataract surgery. It's covered unde part B, but may be affected if you have an advantage plan vs a PPO, which I have. Medicare covers surgery to remove the cataract, basic lens implant, plus one pair of glasses or contacts after surgery.
