Chillin’ On Sunday

Good Morning from the 45th. Yes, it’s been chilly, yes we have had a couple dustings of snow, yes it’s mid October, but it’s normal fall weather. Yes, I have been busy  Had a nice final camping trip of the season, saw some beautiful color in some places, revisited some of my favorite places, found a couple new waterfalls and traveled some new roads and spent time with camping friends. Winterized, covered and. Put my trailer to bed for the winter. Have been busy with fall chores and cleaning up leaves etc. Everything’s done with exception of leaves still falling and covering my shrubs which will wait till we get some serious snow. Next up is new tires on my truck. Always something to take one’s money out of one’s pocket

Velda, hope they find the problem. That is really strange. Would be something if it turned out to be the fan motor shorted and blew the light bulbs out or something Simple. How you wish. Beth, glad you made it safe to AZ and are busy in your casita. I got a laugh when you said you couldn’t take a picture of the view from your window because your underwear was hanging on the line between window and mountains. Thought that was a poor excuse  Hope it cools down for you gals n CA. I see another fire has erupted. Wish I could send you some of the rain we have been having.

Ned to wash my hair and then run to town, so guess I had better get with it. Might be a lady of leisure today, depending on weather. Bought a couple butternut squash and want to cook them up to freeze for winter, but no hurry on that. Have a nice day everyone and stay safe.

Morning Sue, sunny but chilly on the shore. I deleted my long post because it was whiny and depressing. Need an attitude adjustment, will work on that. :) Be safe

Morning everyone! Yikes…it’s 29 with a feels like 19 outside! Had an up and down week but accomplished quite a bit. I went in for my double-dose flu vaccine and had a sore arm for a day. This week I need to get my 2nd shingle vaccine. My sister and I are giving Haddie our old doll crib for Christmas. I sanded on that and have it ready for Sean to stain and varnish. Then I decided it was time to pull out the sewing machine and make the mattress, blanket and pillow for it. I bought the fabric before the pandemic and had just stashed it in the spare bedroom. Haddie was a little bent out of shape last Christmas when I gave Bronc an afghan so right after the first of the year I had bought a rainbow selection of yarn and made one for her. Pretty proud of myself that I had one present done last March. The fabric for the crib has all the colors in it so I crocheted a little afghan for it. After the crib project I sewed a pair of boxer sleep shorts for Bronc out of Green Bay Packer fabric…his favorite football team and I think the only reason he likes them is because his favorite color is green. Then I finished another afghan for the silent auction at the Pink Ladies Dart Tournament. Today I finally bit the dust and cleaned out all my planters outside and Sean and I took all the foliage to the landfill. It looks so blah when all the flowers are gone. Did that just in time with this mornings temps.

My down part of the week was one of my high school friend’s husband died from Covid last Sunday. He was transported to Sioux Falls Friday night because he had developed pneumonia and then he had a stroke. Jacque also has Covid so she couldn’t go to the hospital and after Mike died her own children couldn’t go to the house and spend time with her. After I graduated from college and lived in Yankton, I was really close to Jacque and Mike. We were all broke, so I spent a lot of nights at their house playing three handed pinochle. There aren’t any plans for a service at this time.

Covid is spreading like wildfire in South Dakota. On August 8th our county had only had 13 cases and there were no active cases. Yesterday the count was 297 people had been infected and 184 cases were still active. Probably doesn’t sound like a lot to some of you in densely populated areas but it’s a lot for one small county with a population of about 7,000.

I know this is long but then I only post every so often. Karen, Congratulations on the new house. Velda hope the electrical problems are fixed. Beth, Love the window film and glad you are “home”. Barbie, just slap that drama queen at work upside the head. Sheila, when do you head back to Q? Martha, I’m glad your house was okay. Sue, Dennis and I are not going to have our annual winterizing fight because the camper never had the antifreeze removed this year! :( I know I’ve forgotten others…please don’t be offended.

Have a good week.

Good morning gals! :D

Sue, you sound busy as ever! You are an energizer bunny! Glad you had a great last trip out for the season.

Shirl, I always post whiny, depressing posts and no one has kicked me off here...yet! My dad used to say "Cheer up, things could be worse. So I cheered up, and sure as heck, things got worse!" Just a little humor for your morning :D Hope things look up for you soon! Hang in there. (((hugs)))

Pat, Haddie will love her Christmas presents! I am sure she will be so excited to get her own beautiful afghan! Sorry to hear of your friend passing from C-19. Such a terrible virus!

I woke up early this morning. Was hoping to sleep in, but I can always take a nap later. Will watch church service shortly and then make a list of things to do for the day. Laundry will be on there for sure! I am getting bit up on my feet and ankles. Either bed bugs or fleas I picked up on my trip. Yikes! Not that again! Luckily, I have no carpets in my house and just one love seat in the living room. I haven't unpacked my suit case yet so all that will get washed even tho I washed it before I left Oregon. Bedding will get washed. I can't afford to get all bit up like I did before.

Will only be 104* today! Then will start heading down into the upper 90's for highs next week. The average high for this time of year is 89*.

Hope you all have a nice Sunday!

Shirl, you trying to make me feel guilty about my whiny part of yesterday? Sometimes we just need a safe place to whine or vent... So go for it.

Pat, so good to hear from you. You and Sue are both busy beavers. So sorry about your friend, Pat. But I'm not sorry I got out of SD when I did. Stay safe!

Barbie, I was awake early today, too. Actually if I'd get out of bed when I awaken is be able see the sunrise this week. But I snuggle as that's the coldest finger of day. Was 49 when I awoke outside and 59 inside with my windows open. I did shut the window by my bed, but refused to turn on the heat knowing in a couple hours it would be heading into the 90's. I'm giving myself a break today and not starting on the landscaping. Bad me lol

Sue, I was lucky to see some areas of good color driving down. That's always a treat.

Our cool spell didn't last long. It's sunny and 85. Will probably be headed to 90 by this afternoon. My brother in Thunder Bay sent me a picture of the snow in his yard. If we ever get to go to Canada again I would like to go see him.

Pat, so sad about your friends. When I went through town the other day there was a big crowd at the Funeral Home. Guess we are having funerals again. Everyone at Walmart has to wear a mask and at the local grocery store. The places where I don't see much mask wearing is at the feed store and Tractor Supply.

I guess the senior flu shot does make your arm sore. It happened to me too. Every year I would ask for the senior shot and this year was the first time I ever got one. I probably need to get another shingles shot. My sister keeps getting shingles in her mouth. She can't get a shot until she is clear for 6 months. I hope it's not catching since we camp together sometimes.

Barbie, you might have picked up some bugs if you were staying in hotels. A good reason to have an RV. I wish more motels would put in RV hookup. Motels are usually on the main highways and if you are only looking for a place to spend the night and move on that would be handy.

The neighbor's tom cat decided that today was the day that I could pet him. He has been coming closer and closer. It takes a long time but they can see the other cats being fed and petted and finally decide to take a chance. There was a strange cat that came through a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't pet him but he was tame enough to eat with the other cats. I figured I had another cat but haven't seen him since.

I don't know what I'll do today. Probably need to go back to cleaning and throwing. I have a couple of loads that need to go back to the motorhome.

Martha

Sue, my son and family have been in Michigan this week. Mackinaw last I heard. He traded and got six days off for first time in several months, having worked 6 of 7 days most weeks, often 10 in a row with 1 off. They visited a rock and mineral museum and I got a photo of tne bridge which connects lake Huron to lake Michigan. They are enjoying their time away from MN and really enjoyed their stay in a restored 1909 house.
Sue I wish it was so simple as a fan blowi g out a light, but my big Casablanca fan appears fine as do the 4 big 4 ft led fixtures. Tneir appears to be a circuit dead somewhere between panel, junction box, and out from there. Power comes out of panel but isn't reaching it's destinations. Hopefully they will find the issue tomorrow.
It's 92 and fire weather here- dry, breezes off amd on and warm . Haven't heard of a new fire, but haven't had news on either.
Went to church via zoom this morning as only 1/3 of our ward is allowed in building at a time, rotating through the alphabet. This was my week to go, but I chose to stick to zoom.
It's my turn this week to whine with the power issue! Ugh. Pat I'm so sorry about your friends, this has been such a difficult year, made worse by lack Of being allowed to socialize.
I plan for us to get flu shots this past week but my store where I go was out of vaccine! Will check again tomorrow because their pharmacist is a good friend and the best injection person I've met, never hurts!
Got myself a little receipt scanner on a Prime day deal. . Delivered today and on charger. Has great ratings and I'll let you know how I like it. Stores up to 32 g on a included SD card and can then transfer to phone or iPad or laptop via wifi as needed. Hope to use it to decrease paper around here. Called a Doxie Go SE. Read thevsoftwarebisrealmeasy to organize.
Already feeling better after first full week back at Curves. Hope they can continue to stay open. Back hurts less, more energy. Hit my step goals past 6 days!
Well , gotta get busy. Hope everyone is having a good day.
Velda

wow Pat that is too bad about the increased virus in your county and the death of your friend very sorry about that...
Mom called today and told me that someone I knew had passed away... sudden and no knowledge of why... his wife had stopped by to give mom some snack food but didn't go into the house she said that they had had colds makes one wonder... but it's easy to blame the virus on a lot of things right? still a shock ....
It was church today so did go but they have started having 2nd hour via zoom so attended sunday school on zoom which was interesting .... then of course nap time
my son in law b'day is tomorrow but we celebrated today his college son and girl friend came and we had his favorite meal... meat loaf mashed potatoes green beans should have gone up to the house to help but they didn't let me know when they were starting to prepare things...
Tomorrow sil is taking me to mom's for a few so I can take my nephew's afghan over and say my good bye's probably water the plants while there. Think the toilet needs fixed thought he had last time he was there but guess it didn't happen.. as I have noticed it running when it shouldn't be..
hope they find the problem Velda just so vexing
Sue sounds like that was a good trip
I need to get up and do more perhaps some stuff outside before we go over to mom's then I will plan on getting the inside done in the evening hopefully it's so down to the last minute things well perhaps more could be done first but still last minute things... think I will run my sheets up to the house before going to Jackson then perhaps my dd can put them in the dryer make my bed and put those things that reside behind the empty pillow while traveling
it's just doing again wish I had someone here pushing me to some extent encouraging perhaps
well need to go and do something right or wrong
you all have a good day
