Good Morning All, Thinking how my life has changed. Placed an Amazon order for a hair piece and chain with clips to hold a mask. Also first Sams Cub pickup order and a pack of 6 masks. At my eye appointment they took my temperature and another patient commented “at least she didn’t take a stance like she was shooting you” . Our new normal. Edith and I remember World War II, rationing, no sugar, butter, meats, gasoline, etc it was sent to our troops. Everyone picked up hitchhiking servicemen trying to get home or back to base. Dad was in the army and Mom and I took trips to Aunt Polly’s farm for eggs, and a live chicken in a burlap bag. Americans pulled together and we didn’t complain. Guess we are two old gals remembering the past. Be safe

Morning Shirl and all who follow. I just came back from the store. Slow, but still selling, so I'll go back in a couple hours and take off from the employee working her last day and close whenever lolol It's cool and with a wind today so not pleasant outside. But there are still a lot of tourists. Such a strange season.

Shirl, times have certainly changed.

Good morning Beth and Shirl and all who follow. It's a breezy day, on the way to hot. Some in California are expecting power shut offs today into next 2 days. Our city doesn't have to do that because they planned ahead and built back up power. Summer just having its last hurrah with us, at least I hope we will see fall soon!
I attended church via zoom this morning. 1/3 of our congregation were able to go in person, but the S in alphabet is in group 3, so it will be a few weeks. I'm headed to pull my 3 washable air filters and get them washed and out in sun to dry. Not sure what else I'll get into today.
Have a good day all.
Velda

It is hot again today! Lola keeps asking to go out on the porch. So I let her out and once she feels the heat, wants back in again. I don't blame her!

Yesterday after work, I took a "nap" around 4pm. I woke up at 8pm! Not sure why I am sleeping so much.

Watched church on YouTube this morning. I started to clean and rearrange the living room. I was moving the love seat when I saw some tiny thing go racing across the floor!!! I move something else and it ran again. This time I got a better look at it...a teensy tiny lizard! He ran under the recliner. Took me awhile to finally catch him in a cup since he was so tiny and fast! Just a little baby and barely an inch long including his tail! He was really cute! I took some picks and then turned him loose under a tree in the back yard. I looked him up on Google to see what he is and came up with Mediterranean House Gecko. I wonder where he came from?

Here he is hiding in the leaves on his road to freedom! He blends in well!

Hard to tell from the pics how tiny he really was. Can't be very old. They stay small tho, only about 4 or 5 inches long including tail. I guess they are friendly and not poisonous.

Gotta clean the kitchen next. My manager made pot roast the other night and brought me some yesterday so had that for an early lunch but now I am hungry again so will find something else to eat and then start on the dishes.

Have a good day and stay safe!

Shirl, your mention of days gone by reminded me of a great story about my dad. He was hitchiking home after a tour of duty & was given a ride in a limousine. They insisted on driving directly to him to his home. Turns out the limo owner was the actor who played Hopalong Cassidy - daddy's nickname from that day on was 'Hoppy'.
Thanks for the reminder of a kinder, gentler time.

Catherine, it was a gentler time. Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers, Gene Audrey (Mom’s favorite, he shook her hand in Montgomery Ward), Lash Larue (my favorite he dressed in black and used a whip) lol Think I will check YouTube.

Pretty but scary drive today from Capital Reef National Park to Escalante, UT. Drove through Escalante Reef national Park. The first part was over a 9,600' pass with forests. Aspen trees at very high altitudes were turning bright yellow, so I guess fall is really here. Second half of drive was on top of a high, narrow, ridge, with canyons on either side. In places, it was very, very narrow, so scary.

Moab, UT, is a disaster with construction on the main street through town, and is expected to be that way for more than a year. Hard to pull into or out of any businesses, and long lines of traffic trying to get into town!

For late September, you would think it was mid-July in terms of the numbers of tourists around. Forget trying to get a last minute camping spot or even a hotel room. Dozens of people were looking for camping spots, and even jeep and raft tours were completely booked. Amazing. Much different than past Septembers.

Smoke is less, however.
