Damp and Drizzly Sunday

Where’s everybody today. It’s a bit past noon and no posts. Well, guess I will serve Afternoon Tea instead of Coffee. Cream, sugar or black, maybe a scone? Whichever you want. You all know about the virtual chef :D .

Another drizzly day so far. Has been rainy and drizzly ever since I got hime last Tuesday with exception of Friday. Getting a bit tiresome. Want to get out, mow my grass, do a few things in my trailer, get the rugs, sheets and sofa cover out and washed etc. before time for the last trip. Getting to that time of year to start putting summer decorations and anything freezable in the garage away. Won’t be long and it will be time for fall color, follwed leaf cleanup. Wish I could send this weather to those on the west coast.

Martha, I see there is a tropical storm in the Gulf, possibly becoming a hurricane. Hope you don’t have to evacuate again.

So, that’s all I have from this end. Have a nice day and stay safe.

Afternoon Sue, I love afternoon tea. I will have a cinnamon raisin scone with clotted cream and a cuppa Earl Gray with honey and lemon. Cool and sunny here and low dew point so a nice day. If the beach goers have finished for the season I might venture out for a ride. Be safe

It's a little cooler here, 90. I don't even remember what I did yesterday, probably not much. There was a lot of thundering and lightening but only got a half inch of rain. I'm back to watching the weather to see what Sally is going to do. The cone is slowly moving West. Tomorrow I will have to decide if I need to move vehicles. The parish hasn't picked up the downed trees on our road that the neighbors cleared. If we get a lot of rain some of that could move back into the road.

This morning I baked 2 pounds of bacon to keep in the refrigerator. If I had some cookie dough I would bake some cookies but I baked all of them for the last storm. I put the pineapple cake in the freezer to keep from eating a piece every time I open the refrigerator. Out of sight out of mind. lol

I woke up with a headache and decided to go back to bed. But the owner of these properties has been using loud equipment all summer below us, all times if the day. This morning he started in early. It didn't help my headache! So I got myself moving. I've taken off my tire covers and put them away. And replaced the seal on one of my outside storage compartments. I needed to turn on the heat to take the chill off this morning. Now the a.c. is running. It's supposed to be a sunny day but it's very hazy. I'm wondering if from the fires. So I have my solar shower out but I'm not sure if it'll heat up. I know I can simply take it to Linda's or Ginger's rigs and fill it with water from their outdoor showers. And Marnie and Rich offer my coming in to fill. But while I appreciate everyone more than they know, I like being self sufficient so will only take one up on it if my methods don't work.

Martha, I freeze bacon that's already cooked. It lasts longer and is just as good. I wouldn't use that 2 pounds in the fridge fast enough.

Time to relax again and take a couple Tylenol.

Beth, it is probably smoke with more to come. I am in southeastern Idaho, and this area has had very light haze for a while where the mountains just did not look at clear. But I went for a walk late yesterday afternoon and was shocked at the increase in haze/smoke. The sun was orange and just visible and the farthest mountain range down the road had disappeared. Plus, it smelled funny. In August, the fires were mostly in California, but now they are in Oregon, so we are closer to the smoke. Next Saturday, luckily, I will be headed south through Salt Lake City (just overnight) to Green River and then Dead Horse Point SP near Moab, and the weather shows those places clearer, at least for now.

I spent a couple of hours outside yesterday chatting with people and then last night I found myself coughing and doing a lot of clearing my throat. Still wanting to cough and clear my throat this morning.

I use my laptop on my lap, and so when I get up to do other things, I put it on the floor in front of the chair. And sometimes I leave it there overnight. However, I now seem to have a few bugs in my computer--as in little tiny ants. I am guessing I might have a crumb or two under my keyboard which is attracting them. I cannot find any ants on the floor, but I am guessing they are there somehow. I also have a lighted keyboard, so very occasionally, as I am typing, I can see something crawling under the keys. Over the past week, I have found four ants, which is not exactly an infestation, but it is irritating because it is making me feel "buggy" if you know what I mean. Keep feeling like I have an ant on my arm. Did vacuum keyboard a couple of days ago, but maybe I need to blow out the crumbs????

what town are you in Judy? (in southeast Idaho) enjoy your time in southern Utah so pretty down there. It is hazy here as well usually we can see the west side of the Teton's had friends stop by that have not seen the Teton range not sure that they will either... :( perhaps if a wind comes through it might clear out some of the haze... I assume it's from the West coast fires...
after my visitors enjoyed some oatmeal like to make steel cut so takes long I make a large batch and put in fridge so that I can reheat later...
it's about time for family chat... starts at 9:00
of course it was Sunday and the afternoon nap
and we did get to go to church today have it broke up so that we don't exceed the approved amount and it's only for 45 mins... so enjoyed it didn't get to visit with anyone that was discouraged... but understand why... the bishop is my cousins son I was looking at him thinking how much he reminds me of my dad and my nephew...
tomorrow going over to my mom's for the day
you all have a good night

I slept in this morning, then watched my church service.

I decided to make a small gourd project for Candiss for a house-warming gift since I have a little extra time before we leave. I started on it today. I am painting the mountains behind us in the reddish color they turn at sunset, with a couple palm trees surrounding the southwest adobe tower that is on the main clubhouse here. I am using metallic colors so it is bright and colorful. I still have to paint the palm trees and the detail on the tower yet. I hope she likes it. She loved the last one I did so I think she will. It will be a good remembrance of this park. I also have to finish the cat gourd for my friend Debbie who will be cat sitting for me.

I stopped at WM tonight and picked up a box of cereal. I don't eat a lot of cereal but sometimes I want some around in case I am in the mood. The only size they had for the kind I wanted was a 23 ounce family size! . The biggest box of cereal I have ever seen! I couldn't eat that much if I had it every day for 6 months! I bought it anyways tho, since it was cheap. I will pour some into a small plastic bin I have and then bring the rest of it to work for my manager who has a couple kids. I wish they would sell smaller sizes of things for single people.

My friend who lost her horse a couple weeks ago, has found a new horse to call her own. A beautiful Tennessee Walker. I am very happy for her. :D

Still having issues with my AC units shutting off. The AC guy is coming out on Wednesday morning. I thought I had another issue with the one in the bedroom today. It was on but it was really warm in there and I realized it was just blowing warm air. When I checked the remote, it turns out the heat was on, not the AC! :o. I remember grabbing the remote early this morning in the dark and pushing what I thought was the temp button but I must have hit the "mode" button next to it and turned on the heat instead! Will have to make sure I turn the light on when I need to use the remote.

Had a gorgeous red sunset tonight from the smoke. The only good thing about fires and smoke.

I'm more of a hot cereal person but like to have some cold cereal on hand for when that desire hits me.. like you though they tend to go stale before I finish them... I've found single servings in a container similar to cup of noodle soups. there are just a few favors like raisin bran frosted flakes cheerios and some other favors I mentioned the ones that I pick up  depending upon the mood those single servings can become two
