Monday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday Morning

Postby asirimarco » Mon Jul 13, 2020 9:26 am

Good Morning to all. Tried to think of catchy title but brain is in slow down mode. Last night at 11 I was watching news still 103 degrees. High was 113, today supposed to be 111. I tried to do a little straightening up of the house. Managed to put some things out of sight. We finally got the estimate for repairing the flood - broken ice maker hose - over 16000 dollars. Thank goodness for insurance. But have to jump through hoops with the park management and mortgage company. Of course they have to inspect and inspect and inspect and have to find a contractor who has all the required licensees [that's fine] don't really like idea of strange people roaming through house. But needs to be done. Guess we won't be going any where in RV this summer. Lucky if every thing is finished by fall.
One of our neighbors saw a couple of coyotes roaming the streets yesterday. I knew there are lots of them behind us in the wetlands. Hear them at night a lot. but haven't seen any in the community.
We are still not going any where - though Might make a short trip to grocery store to get a couple of things Walmart doesn't have. Also might have to go out to pick out new flooring unless contractor can bring samples. I want to see it before we buy it.
I am running out of projects to keep me busy. Bill went out in the garage to pick up some hand tools and almost burnt his had they were so hot. Supposed to cool down to 107 in a couple of days.
I finished my Japanese ladies finally. All applique - I've had them for years but finally got around to doing them. Don't know what to do with them now that they are done. There are 3 individual ladies so have to frame them somehow.

That's about it for here. We are well but getting crabby.

Good morning Carol from the east coast where we fuss if it gets into the high 80’s! Your Japanese ladies are beautiful. Surely you can find some place to display them.

Sorry to hear about your flood. So much damage for an ice maker. I had a new refrigerator delivered on Friday. Since I live in an old house with small rooms, the space allowed dictated the size of my refrigerator. I don’t have room for one with an ice maker, and that’s okay. Enjoy today. Peggy

Morning Carol and Peggy. I love the Japanese ladies. Beautiful. I wish I had the patience for your hobbies. Of course, the skill would be even more important.

I'm laying in bed, not wanting to go to work. Haha. Now that I have a full staff, I figure I can be more of a bum. I am taking this next weekend off. Totally off. Drive the rv out of here! Not going anywhere exciting, but I'll be unavailable for a couple days even if I do nothing lol

I almost stayed at my casita for the summer. I'll probably be there one summer with the Arizona heat, but not this one.

Love your Japanese ladies Carol. They look very similar to some paintings I did in my college years for my parents to display in their home. They had just redecorated with a Japanese theme.

beautiful Carol.. how tall are they? a couple of years ago had to go to Vegas to help my sister in the Summer heat not sure of what month but the temps were up in the 115 area :o the whole time I was there I don't think I would do well there the whole summer. hopefully they will be able to complete the redo quickly and you can still find some place to go for a long weekend or something although it's a hot summer not sure where you can go safely and be cooler... although we are cooler so Idaho but doesn't Bill have issues with altitude?
got up way late comes from getting involved in reading a book as they were talking about this women's grandmother I thought they are almost describing my mom... so after I woke up I did a few things then went up to help on the apartment more windows... then cleaned inside and outside of cupboards one cupboard wasn't well thought the door is narrow and impossible to utilize the space in that part of the cupboard if it was me I would put another door on the other side (it's a peninsula) for better access.. but guess it's too late and there is a lot of storage without good access to it...
then it felt like there was no one there finished the project I was doing (I had cleaned the inside of microwave) looked out and the car was gone so called it quits went home and took an nap did text and tell them to let me know when they were home and I would come out and help them some more... looked at my text to see if I had missed one yep I did an hour earlier dinner is ready ... so came up and set up the computer and heated up some hamburger stroganoff. almost took a fall but caught myself on the animal guard of the sheriffs car another bruise but that one I know where it came from  and wrist is sore.. but beats falling on the ground I think
guess I ought to go out and see what I can do to help but it's 7:35 pm so not sure I want to...
still need to crochet my two rows... hopefully the wrist won't complain to much
sure hope Sarah finds her Zipper ... he so much looks like Shadow
you all have a good day

Sheila, it must have been a man that designed the cabinets in my kitchen. Some of the openings are only 11 inches wide so it makes it hard to get some things in them. Why not make one big door instead of 2 tiny ones?

It was another hot day and I didn't get much done except to complain. I will have to go get cat food tomorrow or Wednesday. Not looking forward to wearing a mask in this heat. I should have tried to mow the part of the yard that was too wet last week. In a few days I will need to mow everything again.

Well, I am out of work again...

Governor Newsom shut down all the salons, gyms, indoor malls, etc today. The owner of my salon called and said we could finish out the day til 5pm and then we would be done. Well, everyone else heard the news about 2:30 and came running in for haircuts! Just 2 of us working and we got slammed! I did about 10 haircuts in just under 3 hours! It was crazy! So I think we will be closed for at least 2 weeks but probably longer, until the numbers come down. Our hospitals are almost at capacity in their ICU's already.

I had a customer this morning who was being a jerk. He had on a bandana so I got him a regular mask but he wouldn't wear it. He didn't even want to keep the bandana on his face. When I asked him if he wanted me to cut around his ears, he snapped at me saying he told me to cut it all short. I told him I need to ask specific questions so I can get his haircut done right. So I didn't say another word thru the rest of the haircut. I couldn't wait to get him out of my chair! Well, about an hour later, he called and wanted to talk to me. He told me he was really sorry for being rude to me, and that he really loved his haircut. He said he was just stressed about everything going on and was sorry for dumping it on me. I accepted his apology politely.

Between the hiking and walking around town this weekend, and standing all day at work, my feet really hurt by the time I got home! I will be sleeping in tomorrow!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
