It’s Friday!

Good morning, It’s Friday, Not that it means anything to those of us who aren’t working, just another day of the week. Seems like everybody's been on the hot side this week. Even here, we have been in the mid to upper 80’s, a good 15 degrees above normal. At the moment it’s a comfortable 57 degrees here, sun is out, but clouds and rain are moving in. So that means my deck project will have to wait till tomorrow.
Been busy around here this past week, but have been reading to keep up with you all. And have taken a couple of afternoon drives with the pups as well. Got my yard mowed and trimmed, few flowers planted, front porch floor touched up with paint where needed, deck railings all painted, decks scraped where needed and am in process of sanding some areas. Paint will be next, but as I mentioned, on hold due to weather. Will have a 4 day window coming up starting tomorrow, but that will depend on how wet the wood gets. May have to wait till Sunday. .Next up will be a bit of paint on garage service door frame, the service door and the garage door. Decided that with all the virus stuff etc., this is good time to do house maintenance stuff and redo a little landscaping. Then will start looking into camping. Still have reservations for end of July.
Bit of advice for those in areas where it’s been very hot. Don’t leave hand sanitizer in your cars etc. Found out if it contains alcohol, it’s flammable and can ignite on it’s own in a hot vehicle
Guess I should get my day moving here. Might be able to get a little sanding done before rain comes in. The have a couple of errands to run. The pups are going to doggy spa tomorrow, so I will be able to work on decks while they are gone. Wish I could get my hair cut, but that will come soon.
Our Govenor lifted her Stay at Home order two weeks early and has now opened the State into Phase 4 of a 6 Phase plan to reopen the state. This allows most businesses to open in areas previously shut down, restaurants to allow dining in, but at 50% capacity etc. Libraries will open next Monday. Gyms, fitness centers, salons etc., are still closed, but pretty much everything else is a go. Masks are required in a lot of places and social distancing still required. This region and the U.P. have been in Phase 4 before the rest of the state as we have kept our numbers flat. They are of course monitoring numbers across the state. This region and the U.P. are going to be elevated to Phase 5, possibly today, which will allow everything to be open. Long as everybody does their part, we should be okay. There is one area in SW MI they are watching as cases seem to be climbing a bit, but they are only in Phase 4 and will not be elevated for awhile. There’s still a lot of apprehension out there which is good. Remains to be seen how summer tourist season goes. One ofmy afternoon drives was to Mackinaw City. Not very many people around up there and some of the businesses have elected not to open this summer as there‘S a lot of apprehension up there because they can’t see over 1 million tourists in that town over the course of the summer. So some have apparently decided that it is not worth putting their employees at risk as well as the expenses required to follow the protocols and everything necessary. IThty also not think that the tourist season will be aS busy this year either.
