Last Saturday of May

It’s just noon here and a much cooler day. We had rain last night so the yard is still wet, will put off working out there for awhile. I did drag out the air conditioner for my bedroom window but looks like we’ll have a run of cooler nights so no big rush to install it. Hard to believe that May is almost over. It’s been a strange month in a strange time. It’ll be interesting to watch how things start slowly opening up now that this county is in the green phase. I managed to get a replacement bulb for my turn signal but I have a problem with one screw not grabbing into the fiber glass body and had to get a longer screw to replace the one that was actually to short to grab.. problem is I got a thicker screw but it won’t go through the narrower lens cover so I don’t know what to do to solve that. I’ll talk to my son and see what he might suggest. No other mews worth reporting here. Another day like so many others of late! Hope you all find something to make you smile today and stay safe.

Good morning.

Depending on how thick the plastic around the screw hole on lens cover is (and assuming that the lens cover is not threaded) and also making sure that your new screw will fit into the fiber glass body (including the depth of the lens cover), if you have an electric drill you might be able to carefully "ream out" the lens cover hole (to make the hole bigger) a little bit so that the screw will fit through it.

Alternatively, you could also just try to find a slightly smaller screw that will fit through the lens cover into the fiberglass without reaming. You might be able to find the specifications of the needed screw by doing a bit of Googling.

Good luck!

Anne

Afternoon All, I have been avoiding news, IPad and people. Need a mental health break can’t handle anymore. Planning and enjoying good food. I really miss chipped beef gravy, can’t just fix a little bit and a lot isn’t good for me. Still walking which for me is better than a tranquilizer. Past the horses again. One in the paddock continually whinnies to one grazing in the pasture. Wonder what he’s saying “hey! don’t eat all the grass”. Lol My mind does wander when walking. Tomorrow will bring my old Walkman, play Fats Domino and boogie down the road. Be safe

It's up to 94 today. I haven't started walking when it cools off, I go fishing. I need to wear old clothes when I fish because I get worm dirt on me. I might mow later if it cools off any. I'm sure part of the yard is too wet now.

Frosty actually ate most of a small can of the prescription food this morning. Now if I can just get a pill down him this afternoon.

I'm beyond bored and into stir crazy. lol It looks like the Spacex Rocket is getting ready to take off. I saw the Challenger explode so this makes me nervous. looks like they made it if nothing goes wrong.

Shirl, between you & Martha and others on this forum, what you say and how you say things really light up my day. During the times we're going through, I need that and thank you!

We ill be visiting with camping friends that we've known for over 30 years tomorrow, who relocated to GA. They are only about an hour from us so it should be a fun day. Their daughter, who is about 10 years younger than us, had a major stroke just before Christmas, and although she is married, are spending much of their time caring for her. She is still paralyzed on her right side and still can't talk and our friends are in their 80's. Such a sad situation. We need to count our blessings.

Went out looking at bikes again today. I really like the Pedigo Boomerang Plus in a 24 Inch bike, which is a very low step-thru, but they cannot get me one until late July or August because of shipping problems with the coronavirus. So I went to look at Trek, but their smaller bikes were bigger than the Boomerang, and they really don't have a low step-thru. What they call a step-thru is a big bike with a step through that is much higher, so I am going to try to get my gear shift lever fixed on my old bike to hold me while they order a Pedago for me.

Still trying to catch up on medical things, so got a cortisone shot in my shoulder yesterday, and after my bike shopping today, I got my first Shringrex vaccine on my way home. Now I just am waiting for the cat scan results, and I don't like that it is taking so long. They might want another PET scan or to do a biopsy of the thing in my lung, which would involve going in from the outside and spreading my ribs--OUCH!!!!

In the meantime, I have a very comfortable camping spot in a nearby Ohio state park. It cooled off here last night, also, which made sleeping better. I hate hot nights almost as much as I hate my AC blowing cold air on top of me as I sleep.

Martha, I think fishing is a form of meditation. Whatever it takes.

Good afternoon gals! :D

I slept in and then read the first 2 chapters of "The Four Agreements" which my pastor is doing his talks on each week now. He talked about the 1st agreement last Sunday and tomorrow of course will be the second one, so I wanted to read that too. It is a very easy book to read and makes a lot of sense about messages we got as kids that we still live by today whether we realize it or not.

Maya was naughty over night with attacking and biting. She bit my face hard once. I put her off the bed and yelled at her. I didn't see her again until I woke up this morning. She was laying next to me. She woke up and came up to me, washed my face and ears all over, purring very loudly and then tucking her head under my chin as if to say how sorry she was! :D

I need a break from the news today as well. I did get a message from a friend saying that the suburbs of Minneapolis are having problems now too. The town I grew up in is a pretty upper-middle class area with lots of high-end shops in town. I guess many of those are getting boarded up just in case of looters there. Maybe things are getting so bad with this situation partly because people are so stressed about the virus and stay-at-home orders. Tensions are high all over and this situation just added to that.

It is supposed to be a little cooler today, maybe just in the upper 90's. It is windy out and cloudy again. Maybe I can get my boxes cut up today. Gotta get to the litter boxes today too. I finally got a mask that I had ordered a month ago. It has a little pocket for a filter and I got extra filters. So I can use that at work along with a couple other ones I ordered. This one is very roomy inside so I can breathe easier without my nose getting squished. :) I am a bit claustrophobic so I need to breathe easily.

Had two slices of banana bread so far this morning. It is very good all warmed up with butter on it!

Barbie, I was just reading all the people arrested Friday night were from out of state. It seems there are agitators causing much of this. It's so sad because it's making everyone blame the citizens.

Finished my "Monday". While I work some most days, my "days off" for now are Thursday and Friday. Come the end I'd June, my schedule will be more normal or usual for me, I hope. Maybe I'll even get a chance to take a couple days and get away.

Irmi, thought of you, had soft crabs and German potato salad for dinner. Salad wasn’t as good as my German mother in law’s or I’m sure yours. Sad I didn’t get her recipe but time slips away.

Awwww Shirl! Because of the low carb diet I'm on, I don't make German potato salad as often as Steve would like, but when some of us friends get together, that's always my contribution. Thanks for thinking of me!

Brenda came over and we visited for a couple of hours give or take was really good to visit with her...sat out in the sun then we moved down to the shady part by the 5th wheel... started crocheting a row but didn't take long before the nap took over will need to get serious about this afghan or it will go to AZ with me.
my third daughter found a car according to FB so excited for her she wrecked hers before Thanksgiving I am thinking and as been using one of her sister's cars since I get the vibe that my dd is tired of her taking a car... so am really glad that she has her own once again
I should have accomplished something today but didn't oh well you know what it will be there another day...
I did talk with my eldest dd and I can come down but it would be better for her if I waited until week after this up coming one... they had been doing two weeks at one parent then two weeks at the other parent have gone back to changing each week this coming weeks is my dd turn and she is hoping for her dd to get her bedroom painted so my being there would put a crimp in that also dd has to do some work on Mon and Tue so this will be better...
maybe next week I can get some containers planted just need to go and buy plants and soil first get an idea and what I want ...
you have a good day

I had planned on staying away from the news today but that didn't happen. Seems to be two groups in the streets of our cities. The peaceful protesters, and the rioters/looters who are taking advantage of the situation. It is worse tonight than the past several nights. I wonder how or when it will all end? :(

Our pastor sent out an email saying he is doing a talk tomorrow on this situation instead of what he had planned with the book. So far my area (the Coachella Valley) has not had any protesting or problems. There is a peaceful daytime protest planned for Wednesday in Palm Springs. LA tho, is really having problems with riots tonight, along with many other major cities across the country. In Minneapolis/St Paul, they have closed all of the freeways going into the cities. There are curfews all across the metropolitan area including the suburbs where I grew up and lived before I moved out here, 30+ miles west of Minneapolis.

I burned my tongue on dinner tonight so I have been eating fudgesicles to sooth my tongue. Just went for a walk to the mailbox and it is windy but feels nice out. Someone there introduced herself to me and knew who I was. She even knew what house I live in and that I have a kitten. Probably from the park's FB page.

...now a historic hotel on fire in Washington DC. Lots of prayers for peace need to be said tonight.

We had a quiet cooler Saturday until about 6:35 pm, when we began to hear thunder and saw the sky light up. Shortly it began raining and poured for about 20 min totally .35 inches. Then it quit and sky began to clear. Was so cool, I opened the door and let breeze come in screen door. Hard to believe today was 79 but just Thursday was 106!
Irmi, have you made Faux Tater salad where you substitute cauliflower for potato in the salad! I really like it.
