Windy Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Windy Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Apr 18, 2020 6:57 am

Good Morning. Sun is coming up over the trees in a clear blue sky. Temps are supposed to be coming up too as well as wind. Be a good day to be outside. Will just deal with the wind. Plan is to clean inside of my truck bed and do a little more cleaning in the truck cab as well. I lease my trucks and will be turning this one in for a new one next week. And run the recycles up the road to the bins.

Sounds like everyone’s doing well out there. Judy, you might look into some freezer bins for your freezer, i have one in mine and it keeps stuff in place. I also wrap my neats in freezer paper as they stay better and more compact. Don’t slide around like plastic bags. I use freezer buns in my home freezer. I can get a lot of stuff in the freezer in those bins, cause I can stack stuff up in the bins whereas they were always falling down otherwise. Was wondering the other day, if your summer plans are going to change in the light of all that’s going on in the country. I still have my reservations in place, but am playing by ear. The latest developments scare me with people protesting and everything. I fear a surge in the virus could happen. Guess time will tell.

Barbie, that was old stuff you read about Soos. She is in FL and may not head north. She is afraid of contacting the virus as her immune system is very compromised, especially her lungs. She is staying at home and not going anywhere, is have her groceries delivered and so forth. Beth, glad your trip is going smoothly. Hope it warms up for you.

Take care everyone.

Good morning Sue, and all who follow. Thanks, Sue, for starting most of my mornings with an engaging post. :)

It is a pretty day here, although quite cool (for this time of year - some years we will have our first 100 degree day around April 1). It is also a bit cloudy, but with the sun peeking through. Last night when I looked on weather.gov, 20% chance of rain was predicted. Looked again just now, that chance seems to have evaporated. ;)

Sue, like you, I have also been watching the developments with people protesting the shutdown. It really has me scratching my head. Not sure what they are thinking - don't they think this virus is a real thing? My fear is that a surge in the virus will happen if restrictions are lifted too quickly.

For me, I am staying put. Have not been out of the house since March 18, the last time I went out for groceries. Thank goodness that I can have groceries delivered here. I have had a few groceries delivered, probably looking to have more delivered this week.

I am doing pretty well, keeping busy with various hobbies, weekend video chats with my adult children. And, of course, lots of cuddles with my Big Joe.

I, too, have some camping reservations coming up, and I, too, am playing it by ear. Although I am leaning more and more towards cancelling.

As you say, time will tell.

Stay well, everyone. I remember an old curse that goes something like "May you live in 'interesting' times".

I think we are there.

Anne, I would rather my time not be so interesting. I think it will be a while before I venture out of my parish. There has only been 26 cases reported and one death. I will continue to try to be careful. All of my reservations were cancelled except for an RVW campout in October. I don't think it was cancelled but RVW cancelled the convention.

For some reason I woke up thinking it was Sunday. I didn't sleep very well. Woke up some time and started watching some movie called the Break Up. I seldom watch movies because I never get in on the beginning and the same for this movie. I just saw the last part.

They kept saying we were going to have bad weather but only got about a 1/4 inch of rain. It looks like it could rain but the radar shows most of the rain is in the gulf. Don't know what I will do the rest of the day. Probably my usual nothing.

Unfortunately, Anne, they don't think the virus is a real thing. They believed the story that it is just like the flu and nothing like logic or evidence is going to change their minds. Remember the Darwin Awards for stupid people doing stupid things, and then dying, thus proving Darwin's theory of survival of the fittest? Unfortunately, if these people get the virus, they will infect others before they die.

I am forging ahead making reservations for late summer and fall. I am hoping I will be able to meet my California kids in Idaho in late July. And just this week, I made reservations for October for the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, so am hopeful things will be better in the fall. Tomorrow I head north a bit to Reed Bingham State Park in southern Georgia for a week. Georgia is one of the few states that kept their parks open, but they do say they would prefer that you not come and the campground is pretty empty, which is just what I want! Then, I'll spend a couple of weeks or so in Tennessee. I am heading to Ohio, but moving very slowly and trying to stay in out-of-the-way places.

Not much one can do with the trailer hooked up to the truck unless you want to drag it with you  I text my dd and asked it they were possibly going to come see me and we could visit by standing far apart... was reading my scriptures when a text came then a pound on the door went out and there they were was so good to see them then as they were almost ready to leave my son and his two dd's popped in again no hugs but a good visit...dd brought ice cream it's sooooooo yummy!!! a couple had a sick child a few years ago started making ice cream to earn more money to pay for treatments and now they have a store and yummy ice cream... so enjoyed it... then after my sandwich I called a friend and we visited for little over an hour... she is living in a small town and I don't think totally believe that it is as bad as it is... cooling down now will need to get the electric thrown and wrap up in it
went to the office couldn't get reimbursed but they gave me to vouchers not the right word but two free nights need to use in a year... which is a bummer as I was giving serious thought to going a different way and there is always my mother that we need to keep in mind.. she is doing well but at 93 one wonders how long that will last... it's like I told the gal (who was the one that checked me in) that I thought it was wrong that they couldn't reimburse me as it wasn't my fault they made an error and I will be really bummed if I don't get to use them because of not leaving ID/WY due to needing to help my mom... I have a year to use them up on April 21 of next year... which means that if I go down I could use them on my way up but would have to leave on time and not dally coming they also raised their rates... over 10 dollars since last fall.
oh well guess what will be will be...
might have to try using freezer paper as I do have meat that come falling out when I open the door thanks for the suggestion Sue
take care will have a lazy day tomorrow

Just popping in to say I'm in Keystone. I didn't get too settled because I may change sites after I talk with my boss Monday. Ty was very obviously happy to get here. He walked me all over. He took me to the store and did not understand why we couldn't go in (I didn't bring the store keys on the walk). Silly boy. But he wanted to keep walking... We visited one of the chain saw carvers and Ty walked around the back way and saw the bridge was still out. I swear he was trying to say... Really, we can't cross here YET. I talked with one of our maintenance guys and he said the city is talking about leaving them until NEXT year! Crazy. But they have the streets a mess with one lane closed off. Something about doing sidewalk work.

I, for one, am hoping tourism stays way down throughout the rest of this year and possibly longer than that. I think masks and gloves and social distancing are going to be the new normal.

My first two workers were planning to get here tomorrow... Because of talk of overnight snow and another temperature dip, they drove about 550 miles and got here just after dark. We gave virtual hugs from 6+ feet and I told them to go relax. I'll see them sometime tomorrow I'm sure. We'll be working in earnest starting Monday.

Night all.
