A yucky cool rainy day today. Pretty slow at work. No shut down yet but I think it is coming soon. Nothing else new worth mentioning. Have a good day and stay safe!

Colder today, but Ty and I got a good morning walk. Train just got here a little bit ago. Rain makes me like hibernating, so not a bad thing right now.

Sent in my official retirement letter early this morning. It was overshadowed a bit by an announcement that they are trying to get everyone working remotely by Friday. What an undertaking! Not everyone uses laptops so this means they are setting up company computers in staff members homes & making sure they know how to remote in. I am SO glad I'm no longer the director of IT there.
I also called Boomers Benefits & set up my Medicare supplemental plan (Thanks for the recommendation, Beth) so things are moving along.
I let Olivia go thru some of the bins I brought back from KS & she found some treasures to play with yesterday. She mentioned she was going to one of her other aunt's homes to visit later this week - so I questioned my son about that. He said NO they are isolating themselves. He's aware his in-laws may not have socially distanced themselves yet so they won't be visiting them for a while. Unfortunately I'm the weak link in this thing so if they want to retain their baby sitter/grandma, they need to stay in quarantine.
More stores are opening up early with 'senior' hours here but I don't want to go to any until I really need something which shouldn't happen anytime soon.
Please take care of yourselves out there.
Catherine

I just got back from Lafayette. It looks like it could rain but it never did. That was a wasted trip. I went to give blood but my blood count is too low. I haven't been very good about taking my vitamins. I can really tell the difference of the people in stores and the traffic. Someone was standing on the side of the road by Piccadilly with a sign that said they were open so I stopped. You can go through the line and pick your food but you have to get it to go. They were really glad to see me. lol
Stopped at the Abbeville Walmart and picked up what I needed for the campout. They are better stocked than the Lafayette Walmart.
Better start getting my stuff loaded.

Dug out my laptop, which rarely happens, so thought I'd check in, which also rarely happens. I'm holed up in Arkansas, at a friend's. We are trying to practice social distancing. I take the boys for a 1.5 mi walk twice a day, so I'll try not to ramble too long. The weather has finally warmed up, but cold weather is on the way, again. The forecast is for the upper 20s Fri night! Looks like snow north of here, where I want to go. I'm hoping to be able to go visit my 102 year old mom in a couple of weeks. I have dental and Dr. appts, but may postpone them if they don't do it. DD found out they're closing the family practice she has worked at all of her adult life (20 years). They told her they want her to stay on longer than the others, to help with paperwork, etc. She said the end of June. They're offering her severance pay and help with job placement. They're like family after that long. DS and his wife and baby will be renting a condo and listing theirs. Said it won't show well with all the baby stuff in it. True. Crazy to hear him say $2,000/mo for rent is reasonable in Arlington, VA. They'll be starting deconstruction, then construction on their new house. Shooting for Feb completion. They are both working from home and taking care of the baby, since her daycare/school is closed. Nice they can. Amazon is hiring to keep up with customer demands. That's a good place to get sick, if there ever was one! Ask me how I know. I'm just hoping all goes well for me, Beth, and the others for our summer job in Keystone. I'm counting on it!

Good Morning to All from Amado, AZ. We crossed into the US at Nogales yesterday around noon. No questions about our health. Guard that came in to check for contraband i.e, tomatoes, bacon etc. was wearing gloves, but no mask.
This morning at 6 a.m. we went to the WalMart in Green Valley, just up the road. Was surprised to see the parking lot full of cars and the store really busy. Also shocked to see so many shelves empty. We had seen pictures but scary to really see it.
No bread except I did find one loaf of raisin bread and one of sourdough. No Pasta Roni. We came back with the cupboards kind of empty after being gone 4 months. There is also nothing in the cupboards at home. After leaving WalMart we stopped at a Safeway - same thing. Did some fresh bagels though. Also got a few things to put in freezer so we can eat when we get home. We both have doctor's appts on April 1st - going to cancel them, don' want to be in a waiting room with sick people.
We did buy toilet paper, paper towels, alcohol and aloe vera in Mexico - now wish I'd bought more. Guess I'll have to learn to cook again instead of using prepackaged/prepared items. And get stuff to bake bread. Why bread - it doesn't last long in your cupboard, unless everyone is eating sandwiches all day long to use it up.
Oh well
It is COLD and windy and raining here in Amado. RV is rocking and it is cold in here even with heat on. Bill is back under the covers. We'll leave here Friday as long is rain is over and head on home with just one more stop around northern AZ somewhere.
Take care everyone.

Carol, if you go through any small towns check the grocery stores and Walmart there. The grocery store and Walmart in my little town are still pretty well stocked. Better than the stores in the larger town 20 miles away.

My Arizona Winter has come to an end. I left Arizona City yesterday, stayed the night in Yuma. Today I headed West and North to an RV park about half way between Anza Borego State Park and Joshua Tree National Park. I have enough food for almost 2 weeks. Just need to fill the gas tank as I head North.
I am planning on crossing into Canada around the 2nd of April which is earlier than originally planned. The granddaughters are out of school until the Fall and I want to help as much as possible. I need to keep checking the border situation before I leave here on Sunday.
That is all the news from here for now.
Safe travels to those on the road. Good health to all.

Martha, have fun on your camping trip even if it is a small group.
Carol, once you get to Las Vegas, see if any of the grocery stores there are opening for an hour in the mornings just for seniors. Many stores here are doing that now. You would get first dibs on the new stuff they stocked overnight without the big crowds.
I am also thinking of postponing my dr appointment on April 1st. It is not essential and can wait awhile.
Brenda, if you are staying close to the Coachella Valley, let me know. We could get together for a bit. (I was gonna suggest going to lunch, but that isn't an option around here right now). My hours have been cut back a lot so I have more time available.
Finally got my friends Dave and Debbie to come over and help me get the pipes sealed and get the love seat out on the porch. It actually looks good out there so I may just keep it. Living room looks so much bigger and more spacious now.
