Good Morning from the Quiet 45th. Well, now that we have some sunshine today, I imagine people will get outside and enjoy it. Nothing was ever said that we need to lock ourselves inside 24/7. We can go for a walk, do a BBQ with family, make a fire and roast some hot dogs, gas is available, go for a ride and enjoy some scenery, pack some snacks or a lunch and take it along. Go sit by a lake or a scenic spot. Just get out. If I wasn’t having some issues yet from that mishap, I would be gone riding with my dogs. During the Spanish Flu of 1918, research showed that patients who were cared for outdoors or in buildings where windows were opened to let air circulate, recovered faster than those who were kept in closed environment. Air moves germs away, sun is a natural virus killer. Don’t be afraid to be out. You can social distance easily.

Martha, I think you are right about the three weeks than reevaluate thing. After watching how China reacted to this before finally cracking down and closing up shop as well as Italy and other countries, the U.S. is taking proactive measures now in order to hopefully stole the flow. My understanding is that it takes 9-14 days for this disease to make a full blown appearance, so hence the three week shutdowns. One thing is, with today's technology, businesses can still operate depending in the business.

A post was made by somebody on Gaylord’s FB group site last night, posting a notice from Walmart headquarters. Walmart is going to reduce their store hours, so that during the hours the stores aren’t open, it will give their employees time to thoroughly clean the stores and restock shelves. Other precautionary measures are being taken to protect customers and employees like hand sanitizers at checkout stations, sanitizing shopping carts etc. I think other stores will be doing same. Heard say our Meijer store is. Everybody’s rising to the occasion and finding ways to deal with this.

Catherine, congrats on finally making the decision to retire. You will be so busy, you won’t miss work. Judy, sounds nice, sitting by the beach for awhile.

Not much else doing here. Heard we now have 25 cases downstate. So far so good up here. But one of these days probably, just a matter of time. If the downstdters stay home down there and the northerners stay home up here, we can keep it separate, but that’s wishful thinking. Fortunately we are more scattered about up here as opposed to Detroit area and other southern Michigan cities.p where the issues are.

It is chilly here today 29°. Sun is popping in an out amongst the clouds, supposedly rain this afternoon......we shall see.

Will continue with puttering around the house, laundry today and am planning a store run on Tuesday. Many of our stores get deliveries on Monday so I want to give them some time to stock the shelves. The things I want are not the things people are clamoring over so think it might be good. I like to go early so less people but not on a weekend. I am well stocked but always need some fresh veggies, etc I have bread in the freezer and can make a loaf if I need to. I am not eating much bread so should last me quite a while. I have many do ahead dinners in the freezer so I think I can limit my outside visits easily.

So many articles posted with interesting data. I dont really trust the government numbers but I do keep track of our local numbers. I have many nurse and doc friends on the frontlines. One of my friends is working today ER nurse and she has the great job of testing everyone that comes to the ER today. Hope she stays safe. She is in New Mexico. Her hubby works for the Dept of Health and he is gathering info and working with hospitals to get supplies. He is in charge of Operations during this crisis. Scary stuff tho.

Good afternoon Sue & Karen! Sue, I agree with you wholeheartedly and we are not staying inside because of the scare but are careful about where we go and what we do. Our church is small and is still holding services, so we went to church this morning. We are both sitting outside enjoying the beautiful warm FL sunshine. Steve is reading todays paper and I'm reading a book. Dinner will be cooked outside on the grill and we continue living our lives as normally as we can.

We are getting much needed rain here! So I'm not going to be outside today, but I agree getting out in sun is good, just not today! We have to take cat and bird to vet tomorrow, cat for blood draw and bird for checkup of her chronic respiratory issues and nail trim. I probably will do afternoon Curves. Might get to Costco Tuesday, depending on weather. We have our decks and nearly an acre to roam.

Yes Sue, I read that article too about the Spanish flu and how so many more people recovered and more quickly when they were exposed to the fresh air and sunshine! I just posted on FB last night about the outdoor things we can do rather than staying holed up in our homes. Good excuse to get outside and enjoy the beauty of nature and step out of the rat race and hysteria for awhile.

I had a long day at work yesterday and was very tired when I got home. I slept 12 hours last night! I just finished watching our church service on You Tube which, as usual, was very good.

Have lots of things I can do around here today and tomorrow. No plans to go anywhere but will probably take a long walk around the park and maybe practice on the putting course. Not sure if we will play tomorrow since more rain is supposed to move in. Will get my second half property taxes paid, as well as the electric bill (the extra I owe for last year). Then I need to get my income tax stuff together to bring that in and see what the damage is for that. I will get penalized for selling my other house inside of 2 years. (funny, I just had a dream this morning that I bought another house and right away I didn't like it! Luckily, I love this house and have no plans to move again for a long time! ).

Still undecided about what to do for the upcoming campout. I need to buy a few things. Don't know whether to get them now or wait and see if it's cancelled. Just wondering if I will be able to find what I need. I might mow the grass. Sugar wants to walk but it's 87. I would like to wait until it's cooler. Hard to believe it's that warm already. If heat kills the virus Louisiana will soon be in the 90's.

We have one of the meetup dinners tomorrow night. Hope our leader has checked with the restaurant. Some are closed.

SPRINGFIELD - Illinois Governor J.B Pritzker announced Sunday that all Illinois bars and restaurants with inside dining must close Monday night through March 30.
The closure does not include drive-thrus or drive-ins. Patrons will also be allowed to take-out and have food delivered to them. However, that could change if restaurants are not able to provide a sanitary way to continue delivering.

I went out shopping today to Best Buy because I was having mouse problems, and I really need an operating mouse. Best Buy was a lot more crowded than Kohls yesterday, but I was inside and out quickly and washed my hands and face afterwards. Then headed to Penneys to buy a new rug and get a hair cut. Only one other person in Salon. I figured better to make those trips today than in two weeks.

My big excitement today was when I woke up and sat in my chair for half an hour. I have been having problems with the toilet water valve not closing completely and the toilet continuing to fill. I have been very careful to pop the flush handle up and make sure it has shut off. Also been keeping the water pump turned off until I need it. Except this morning. Got up from my chair and walked over to the refrigerator to get something to eat and drink. Stepped in puddle and realized that the doorway rug, hall rug, and the rug in the bathroom were all soaked and the toilet was overflowing, with water running under the slide and outside! Turned off the water and tossed all three dripping rugs out on the pavement. (Thankfully have paved site!) Then I had to grab some old dishtowels to mop up the mess. Of course, by this time, my fresh water tank was empty, so I had to fill it up about halfway. Rugs are drying in the sun on the picnic table.

I knew it needed a new toilet water valve, but it is in a hard place behind the toilet, so I was hoping to not have to take this thing in for repair until things settled down. There is a mobile guy I used near Flagler Beach, so I was hoping to wait the four weeks until I get there. But I will have to be more careful until then, obviously.

All the snowbirds here from Canada are making a fast exit this weekend. I just got a call from a lady from my golf league that they are heading out tomorrow because Canada is talking about closing it's borders so they want to get home before that happens. The casinos out here are closing now.

I am getting concerned about working at the salon. We are hands-on with our customers all day and I worry about the exposure even with the sanitizing we are now required to do. I have put the money from my trailer into my savings account for now just in case I need to take off time from work for a bit. I should run to the store again and see what I can get to make sure I have a two+ week supply of food here. I do have quite a bit and I don't eat that much but just some things for backup. I think I am good on toilet paper tho!

Took a ride on my cart to pick up a lighted orb decoration that someone here was selling cheap. Then practiced putting on the course. Then stopped for awhile to chat with a friend. Beautiful day out today!

A quite day but at the same time didn't even get a nap.. which isn't normal at all
made arrangements with a friend to have supper with her made the scalloped potatoes at home fried ham steak and steamed broccoli at her house. tasted good... haven't make scalloped potatoes in forever... then home for chat... we started up a chat page to talk with family without my mom on ... sometimes we need to discuss her and her needs ...my dd that usually stays two or more nights at her house is having to work from home for awhile so she won't be there... it would make sense for her to stay there... so not sure why she isn't unless mom's wifi isn't constant. my nephew's wife is a agent at the airport and shouldn't go over not sure what is going to be best for her... what ever we suggest she is going to say she is fine staying at home..guess we will see what happens in the long run...generator is still working fridge is still working hopefully there will still be water in the barrel when I go to pump it into the tank forgot it's got a slow leak rather steady actually
it's been a good day visited with a friend via phone and the new chat occupied a lot of the day... Sundays is not a good day for family history finally gave up .... it's due to usage and seems so slow... did see something on Ancestor that I think I want to message the person about..might help us both

Ginger and I went to Naco and Bisbee today... Didn't have any close contact with anyone. That meant we spent no money. But tomorrow we are going on a Ghost Tour in the evening. Usually this tour needs to be booked further in advance so I'm guessing it won't be too many people. It says dogs are welcome, but this time I'm leaving Ty behind voluntarily. I intend to bring my walking stick and we were told to bring flashlights, so I decided Ty will stay home. Tuesday morning I head back to my casita where I'll stay the next few weeks. That should give me time to know whether I'll be able to go to SD.

I saw today that Illinois closed all state parks and Louisiana closed one near New Orleans which will be used to quarantine as necessary.

Beth, take your camera. You might be able to catch some orbs in the photos. I did, when I took the ghost tour on Catalina Island.

Just got word that our hours at work are reduced to 8-4 from 8-8, so our shifts will be 4 hours each day during the week. Not sure about the weekend hours yet.

I went shopping earlier for some more food, just a few more things to get me by longer if necessary. I went to small stores like Walgreens, CVS, Big Lots, Dollar Store. They seem to have a few more things to choose from and a lot less people. Seems like no one likes tomato soup or chicken noodle soup since several of the stores only had those left on the shelf. I got a few of each. I didn't even get any snacks or candy! I would still like to get some hamburger and buns for sloppy joes and some more bread for sandwiches. Otherwise I am good for awhile. I did order some more cat food from Chewy, altho I haven't seen the pet food and supplies cleaned out anywhere.

Tomorrow I need to get some things put together for the yard sale on Friday. Won't have a lot of stuff for it but if I can sell a few things, that will be good. With everyone leaving now, I don't think it will be very busy, but we'll see.

I have lots of things to keep me busy around here with more time off from work. The weather will be iffy for the next week or so, with chances of rain off and on. Not expected to get much around here this time but the mountains will be getting a lot of snow and at lower elevations since the temps will be colder with this system. Speaking of snow, the ski resorts are all closing now too.

I think the fallout from this Coronoavirus with the economy locally, nationally, and internationally is gonna be pretty severe in the coming months or longer. I am so glad I was able to sell my trailer as quickly as I did so I have the money to stay afloat for awhile.

Things changing rapidly. Bars and pubs all closed. Restaurants encouraged to do drive through, but any inside seating reduced by half and patrons to be six feet apart. State taking over hotels to house homeless who need quarantine. It’s going to be a rough ride for the entire world ahead.
