Snowy Tuesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Snowy Tuesday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Tue Feb 18, 2020 8:09 am

Good Morning everyone. Been a bit AWOL here these past few days. No the dog sled didn't take me to Alaska  . Too bad. Would love to go back again. Yes, O'Sharon I did get my ride. It was short, but nice. A totally different experience. Was cold too, about 15 degrees with a sharp wind blowing and a windchill around -4. But I dressed for the weather and was perfectly warm. There were a lot of people up here this past weekend playing in the snow. Who cares about cold. It did warm up a bit as the day wore on though. So I rode behind a team of dogs and walked behind my team later that afternoon  That dog team and their handler just qualified to run the Iditarod in AK, but not this year. Once she feels all is ready, then she will attempt. That is a hard race on both dog and humans, not taken lightly. So that is off my bucket list.

One of the items I have on my list is going to Isle Royale National Park, but that needs a bit of planning and also maybe finding somebody or somebodies who would like to make that trip to share expenses as staying in the lodge out there isn't cheap. I'm not into backpacking to remote campgrounds any more, so the Rock Harbor Lodge or one of it's cabins will be the place. This is a wilderness National Park way out in Lake Superior, a 6 hours boat ride from Houghton, MI or 3 hours from Copper Harbor, MI. Also accessible by boat from MN too, but not driving all that way for that. So someday. Speaking of National Parks, did you know that Indiana Dunes State Park in IN, is now a National Park.

So since it's snowy a bit this morning, I'm going to start painting my small bathroom. Ceiling needs a coat of paint, so will tackle that first. Have a sample of a gray to try on the walls and will do that after I do the ceiling. Don't have to go all the way up to ceiling to see what it loolks like Playing around with some color chips for the other bathroom too. Maybe this afternoon, I might blow out the drive as there's about 5 inches of snow out there and they are saying lake effect for later this evening and tonight, but that of course will depend on wind direction.

JudyJB, hope you get the doctors orders for what you need. Seems they can't do anything without them anymore. Don't want that liability in case something happens. Martha, glad you had a good time at the RV Village Rally. Barbie, glad you made it home in time,

Off to the paint brush here. Antsy to see what that color is going to look like, so want to get with it. Have a great day all.

Interesting Day Yesterday

Postby PeggyinCT » Tue Feb 18, 2020 8:12 am

Good morning Everybody from not so sunny Florida.
I awoke yesterday to my entire torso, upper arms and inner thighs covered in red and very itchy blotches! Yikes. I was having an allergic reaction to something for the first time in my life. Called my insurance company to let them know that I was away from home and out of network. The online nurse from the ins company wanted me to call 911, but I told someone was driving me to a health center just a few miles away. Since I wasn’t having trouble breathing she said okay, but things could change rapidly and I would be better off in ER. I went to the medical center and when I told them I was having an allergic reaction, I was seen right away. A shot of prednisone and a prescription for 6 more days of prednisone tablets and I was on my way. Not sure what triggered the reaction, but it was probably the canopy of beautiful live oaks, pines and hanging moss. I love them, but I won’t be staying here. Once my 6 day treatment is completed, I’m going to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.
Martha, I understand there were a thousand plus rigs at the RV Village Rally!!! How did you like it?
Enjoy today. Peggy

Peggy, I don't know if there were a 1,000 rigs at the RVillage rally but there were a bunch. And people everywhere. There was every kind of scooter and electric bikes you could think of. You had to watch out or you would get run over because you couldn't hear the golf carts and bikes coming. I only went to a few seminars. I think I was mostly camping. Carolyn and Colleen could tell you more about the seminars. They liked most but some were not what they thought they would be. Sugar did really well on her first camping trip. I only heard her bark a few times when I left. She was friendly but not overly friendly. She liked to lay outside the camper and just watch the world go by. She didn't run at people and dogs that went by like some dogs did. Minded her own business really well.

Sue, it's a good thing there are people like you and my brother that like the snow or everyone would be down here with all the rain. It was gray yesterday and gray again today. Thursday there is a 90% chance of rain again. Every thing is so wet already. It's going to be in the 70's again, This has really been a warm winter so far.

Good Morning, Sue, I would have loved to go to the Island with you if you had only mentioned it 5 years ago! One of Nevada Barrs books took place there.
Peggy, that was a scary experience. Isn't Prednisone wonderful for those emergencies.
And Judy?!?!?! what next?
My daughter did have an infection in her stump! the doc drained it and left a drain in, and she will have antibiotics every day, at home, for about 6 weeks.
Also, the women who do Reiki stopped by and gave her a treatment. She said that is the best relaxation she has ever had!
Martha, Sugar sounds like such a wonderful dog! So glad to hear she is working out for you and her to travel together!
I had a quiet weekend. Felt tired so just laid around and did nothing.

Just got back from my Putters league. Did pretty good today. Haven't played for a couple weeks so I was pleased.

Off to work in a couple hours. Have Thursday off so I think I will start painting the shed and trim outside. Need to get that done before it starts getting to hot here. I have two variations of teal to choose from so am trying to figure out which one to go with. One is a little on the greener side, one is a little on the bluer side.

Enjoy your day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Sue, I'd have definitely gone on the dog sled ride. I wouldn't have let the cold stop me, either. So I'm enjoying that vicariously through you.

Peggy, yikes. That is scary. Especially not knowing what caused it. Hope it never happens again.

Last week I tried to take Ty on a doggy date at a dog park. As you may remember, the dog park was closed for maintenance but plenty of people and dogs were disappointed. People boondocking near me recommended a dog park. So yesterday Ty and I went. It was open, and we saw people walking dogs in other areas, but no people or dogs joined us in the dog park. We gave up. We did walk much of the other areas of the park though. And I had brought a ball, so we played all by ourselves when in the dog park.
