Good Morning from the frozen north. Temp: 9 degrees, Wind chill: -7. Looks like a good day to do some house cleaning. Only supposed to last couple days. That’s good, as I have reservation to take a sled dog ride on Saturday. Something I have been wanting to do.

Beth, sounds like your automic click is taking you on a world tour  Judy, so sorry to hear about your uncle. At least being at your cousins will help hopefully. Sounds like the doctors are giving you a run around rather than admitting defeat. Can’t believe you are having so much trouble getting him to hospice care. Lyn, you asked me the other day, if the ride I took to Mackinaw was the same route we took, yes it was.

Nothing new here, same old. Been running errands, had couple appts. And trying to decide what shade of gray to paint my bathroom with. Playing the stick the paint cards all over the wall and looking at them in different light scenarios. Once I decided gray would be best, got a bunch of different shade cards yesterday, but think I need to lighten up a bit. That room doesn’t have a window. Won’t be painting right away anyway as supposedly have a cousin, his wife and MIL coming for a visit next week, so don’t want to have things in a mess. They aren’t staying here, but we will be together for about a day and a half.

So, guess I will get moving here. House doesn’t clean itself :lol. Hope you have a nice day wherever you are.

Oh Sue that sounds very cold. I hate the wind, I can handle rain and snow but that dang wind goes right thru ya when it is cold outside. I dont get the temps you get but wind always makes me way colder than I think I should be ha ha

Emma and I have a house guest for a week. Emma is in seventh heaven I am not sure Barney is as thrilled with her antics LOL He is a good dog tho so it will be fine. The pitter patter of little feet has a whole new meaning when they are racing around the house LOL

Not sure yet what is on my agenda for today. Need to figure out what I will make to eat today. I have lots of fresh veggies and took some chicken out yesterday so that just might be it. Waiting for 8am so I can eat breakfast LOL So far eating in my 8 hr window is working for me. Intermittent fasting is growing on me LOL

I think I will vacuum out my car and do my car windows today. Supposed to warm up this afternoon after the sun comes out to 56° Right now it is dang chilly 25° but clear out so the sun should pop out early. No fog today so that helps.

Morning Sue, Cheryl, Karen and all who follow. Ty has a play date today with Joey (Brenda's dog). He's resting now to be ready. Lol

It's a beautiful day. Sunny with highs in the mid 60's today, low 70's tomorrow. Perfect for me. Sue, I lived with your winters for years and have no desire to snow shovel or blow anymore. On the other hand it's absolutely gorgeous and I could do a big picture window looking out on mountains covered in snow with a mug of hot chocolate. :)

Monday, my younger son was sworn in as a Deputy Sheriff in Pine County MN. He gave new meaning to cold, when he reported in last night, that yesterday evening, with wind chill between -30 and -40, they were on the outdoor range qualifying with their pistols. It was their low light and inclement weather qualificatiobs. After which they returned to the office and were promptly sprayed with police strength pepper spray then had to function. All a day in the life of a new hire law enforcement officer! Ummm, no thanks on cold for this California girl.
I have calls to make today to assessor on a form they need plus yesterday the hospital scheduling me for my MRI says my Medicare number, the new one they issued without SSN, is invalid! Say what, it worked 3 months ago! Saturday the VA has me traveling to downtown Sacramento for a back exam. Hard to plan RV trips between the VA and my eye Dr who will make up his mind in April as to changing out my left IOL implant for better focus.
In between, house delayed maintenance and renovation continues along side my decluttering. 40 years of accumulation in a 3000 sf house plus a 900 sf basement takes longer than I hoped between my own and sons medical issues plus construction/maintenance. So have a good day everyone, I'm off to begin calling.
Velda

It is cold here too, 27 with a wind chill of 9 and temperature is supposed to fall to around 9 tonight brrr. As I was coming in awhile ago I picked some daffodil buds and put them in water to see is they will open. Lots of green grass everywhere which is so strange for so early in February. It's been raining an only off and on cold since the first of the year. I feel sorry for the farmers as flooding already started. The sun is actually out though for the first time this week and it isn't raining!
I have a pre cataract surgery appointment on the 25th!! ACK I am petrified but I can't drive at night and my sight is very compromised even in day time. I'm sorry to hear you are having problems with your IOL. Congratulations to your son for becoming a Deputy Sheriff but the training sounds intense!!

Someone asked me the other day at work, if I miss the snow. I said "I don't miss it at all, it is right up there on that mountain! That is close enough for me!"

Had 3 customers today from MN and one from Wisconsin. Makes for a fun conversation!

After work, I stopped at a park behind the Palm Desert Civic Center, that I read about yesterday. It is very pretty with a large pond, tons of ducks, geese and pigeons, and a lot of turtles. There was a family there having a Valentine picnic with their little kids. They had some balloons that ended up in the pond. The balloons blew across to the other side of the pond so I took a stick and was able to get them all out of the water. I popped them all and threw the pieces in the trash can. With all those ducks and turtles, that is a recipe for disaster to have those balloons in the water! Took lots of pics so will try to get those posted here soon.

Beautiful day here! Sunny, light breeze and 72 degrees! I would hate to be back in MN right now!

Well, it has been quite a day. Had take cab to get car, which was available an-hour-and-a half after I expected it. Drove 2 hours to hospital but got call on my way from doctor that uncle was 100% better and they were sending him home today!!! What?? I was expecting to sign him up to hospice today.

He ate today, but had not eaten for five days. They also had him walking around the hall, though they admitted they had to help him out of bed. I was and am very concerned about sending him back to assisted care, but spent two hours talking with doctor, charge nurse, PT, and hospice lady. They said he qualifies for in-home hospice but not hospice in their facility because he does not need pain control, nor is he vomiting or having other medical issues. The did agree to send PT to assisted living to help him get stronger. And assisted living place agreed to check him more often than every hour at night. Anyway, they postponed releasing him until tomorrow. I am going to get his wife one of those things to wear so she can call for help. (Assisted living said she can always pull the cord in the bathroom, like a person with dementia is going to remember to do that??)

He still looks horrible and I am very uncomfortable sending him back to assisted living, but can only do what I can do. Doctor will not sign approval for residential hospice or even nursing home.

Long day and I am really tired, but I have to go back and get two new checking accounts set up for Social Security checks.

Congrats to your son, Velda. Judy, and things keep getting more complicated. They are very lucky to have you.

Well, I got to the dog park today to discover the gate locked. A maintenance man told me they had to spray the park and close it temporarily. So we waited for Brenda and Joey and just hung out talking and walking. And taking too many other dog owners who were bringing their dogs. So the dogs got to socialize, but not romp. And, boy, they knew they were missing it.

I discovered from Brenda that Gilbert Ray cg in Tucson now takes reservations. It'll be good for them, but I loved that I was always able to get a site there previously. I didn't intend to go there this coming week... Good thing as I just looked out of curiosity and they are booked. They still have a few walk in sites, but I wouldn't chance that. And the website says those few walk ins will disappear next year. Ah, I knew the day was coming so I shouldn't be surprised. I workamped at Chiricahua the first year they took the cg to reservations. Some people liked it, and others arrived shocked and unhappy. Growing pains.

Barbie, thanks for cleaning up the balloons. You saved some lives!
