A curmudgeon is a cantankerous, difficult, and bad-tempered person, who is usually also an old man. They are celebrated on Curmudgeons Day, which takes place on the birthday of W.C. Fields.

Mornin ladies~~~ love that it's men and on Field's bday. All I can think of is "get off my lawn!"

Leaving south Florida tomorrow. Saw Dad last week, and have been spending time this week with another retiree. Went to Manatee Park yesterday and we'll do lunch today. Tomorrow, I head up to Ocala to meet Irmi.

Warm sunshine here and cool nights. My kind of weather. That's bout it. Spring is coming soon.

A cheery Good Morning to you all. Another day has begun, bringing us closer to the end of January. Been scouring the State Park reservation system this morning at Indian Lake, checking to see what’s still available. All but a couple lakefront sites, other than the first come, first served ones are taken now. There are other sites, scattered here and there though. My friends can’t reserve till tomorrow and I would like to try to get near where they are, This is for the end of July. I need to reserve today as it’s move day for me from another park.

Beth, did you finally get yourself settled in your new spot wherever you hat is. Guess everybody decided to leave the same day you did and made big line at dump station. That’s the nice thing I like about being retired, I don’t have to leave on Sunday or holidays, so I can watch everybody else go and leave the next day. Sometimes might have a couple two or three ahead of me at the dump station, sometimes have it all to myself.

Barbie, that’s strange about all the cats disappearing. Like you said, could be coyotes. With all the wildfires CA has had, it might be pushing the wildlife to different areas for food. Saw an interesting thing on our local news yesterday and that is, MI now has a new law where licensed cosmetologists can starting working from mobile units. They have to obtain a license for the unit which is equipped as a mobile salon, but it will be great for senior citizens, brides to be etc., as they can have them come to them. One salon owner says she is planning on having a mobile unit from her salon. Can’t you just see an RV being converted.

Decided against painting mechanicals room. But am going to do floor in my workshop area. Need to go to town today for some foam spray and insulation board. Was going to do that yesterday, but started out and we had freezing mist. My windshield was starting to ice up, so nixed the trip to town. Figured the foads might get a little slick, although they are treated.

So, best get a move on here. Have a nice day everyone.

It's another gray, damp day. I think the rain has moved off and it looks like the sun is trying to come out. I have one of the Meetup Meals tonight but it's at a restaurant about 50 miles from here. I'll have to see what the weather's like this afternoon. I don't mind going but it's the coming home in the dark I don't like.

I have been getting update messages for my Garmin GPS for a month but couldn't find it. I finally found it last night looking for something else. I tried to update it and it says it's updated but I kind of doubt it since it's acting crazy. I think the battery is too low.

I finally got around to calling someone about the barn roof that Hurricane Barry damaged. I need to get that mess taken down before the next hurricane. Hopefully if these people can't do it they can recommend someone.

Martha

Good morning Cheryl and everyone!

Cheryl, just a heads up that Steve & I left Ocala Sunday and are staying at my sisters house in Daytona FL. Her hubby had lots of lab tests earlier in the week and yesterday had a bone marrow transplant at the Moffett Cancer Treatment Center in Tampa. We are dog sitting their whippet, but the plan is she should be here Saturday to pick up the dog and we can return to Ocala. If anything changes, I'll let you know.

Good Morning, I came down with a cold. Bad cough, so scipped class yesterday.
Enjoyed the info on the coronavirus.
It sure sounds like there is an animal taking the cats, Barbie.
Irma, read your PM...

Irmi, I've seen that you're currently dog sitting. No worries. I don't leave Ocala until the 9th, so we're can hopefully do a lunch at least. How everything turns out OK. They're lucky to have you relatively close by.

I'm at Pilot Knob LTVA in California near Yuma. I wasn't happy at the Imperial Dam LTVA. I like staying at Mittry Lake but didn't try there. Stopped at Sam's Club and filled the rv with gas ... Will return there after my trip to visit friends in California and avoid the CA gas prices. I'll take the car in tomorrow... Run a few errands and fill it's tank.

It's a dust storm with the winds here. Ty didn't mind walking in it but my eyes are filled with sand, etc. Yuck. I may consider contacting my CA friends and seeing if an earlier arrival could be arranged.

Sorry about your cold , Lyn . Take care!

I had my hopefully last blood test for a few months today, after taking the last of my miracle drug pills yesterday. I am very glad to be done with both. The pills are huge and I have been taking four at a time every day at dinner. Next step is a bone marrow biopsy in April to see how I am doing. Blood levels have been normal for over a year, so things should be good.

I rode 16 miles on the bike trail at Shark Valley yesterday and even with my electric bike, I was completely exhausted last night--could barely move to fix myself dinner. Feel equally worn out today, so am going to bed early.

Don't know if you have all received emails from government warning you of Social Security scams. While driving this morning, I got two phone calls within ten minutes telling me that there was evidence of fraud with my social security account and that my payments were going to be immediately stopped unless I talked to one of their investigators. Of course I hung up because Social Security never calls people asking them for information, nor does it threaten to ever stop benefits because of fraud!! They were interesting calls, however. They spoke English without accents, but they used some strange terms. For example, both calls said they were going to cancel my "socials" instead of social security. Couple of other strange phrases also led me to suspect these were calls from outside the U.S. Also, one call was identified as coming from "United States" instead of giving a city name.

So, if anyone calls with a similar message or wants you to give them your social security number, HANG UP!!

Good advice, Judy.

I have decided to not answer my phone - at all - if I don't recognize the number, and let the calls go to voice mail. Got tired of the daily scam call asking if I wanted to lower my interest rate on my (of course un-named) credit cards.

Friends leave voicemail. Scammers don't.

Lots of crooks out there. Watch out for the one requesting "bail" because a loved one is in trouble and in jail somewhere.

I had a close friend fall for a version of he "Nigerian prince" scam. She got bilked out of two thousand dollars!!

Yes, lots of scams out there to watch out for.

Judy, that is a lot of miles to sit on a bike, peddling or not. Do you have a large cushy seat on your bike?

Lyn, I hope you feel better soon!

It was very windy today! Santa Ana's blowing thru.

Got my golf cart guy coming over tomorrow afternoon. Hope he can figure out the problem finally.

One of my coworkers is pregnant and single. She broke up with her loser boyfriend a month ago. She has been very scared about keeping the baby, and also having terrible morning sickness. Now she just found out that the baby has Downs Syndrome. She is totally freaked out. I am trying to be supportive and reassuring without telling her what to do, how to feel, or sugar-coating anything. I pretty much just listen and give her hugs. Tough situation for her.

My older brother's birthday is coming up and his step-son contacted me asking me to do a video to my brother for it. I am not sure what to say to make it cute and interesting. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, I do have to answer all calls because I give my number out to students. And right now, even proctors have my number to call me in case of questions about administering my midterm exam!

I don't answer ANY unknown calls. If they dont leave a message they get blocked. Exceptions are when I have some service scheduled as the workers often call from their personal phones to tell me the time or that they are on their way. Other calls can just go to voicemail IF they leave a message. Sometimes a doctors office will call as a reminder from a back phone or something but they always leave a message. Safer that way. I am not that bonded with my phone and my watch tells me when I am getting a call if I am outside or something so no worries here.
