New Years Eve Day

Good Morning on this last day of 2019. Hope this finds you well and awaiting the New Year. I just put a slab of pork ribs in the slow cooker for tonight’s dinner and am going to cook up a couple of butternut squash to freeze, so some will be on the menu as well. No plans for tonite other than the usual TV watching, game playing on here and off to bed. Will welcome the New Year in the morning  Hard to believe we are on the cusp of 2020 when it seems like we were anxiously awaiting 1999’s change over to the 2000’s with a plethora of celebrations all over the world.

Mom Nature is giving us a snowy end to this year and the beginning of next. The big West coast storm arrived Sunday with heavy rain that transitioned immediately to snow yesterday morning like somebody threw a switch and dumped snow at the rate of 1-2” per hour for about 2 hours or so. Very heavy and wet. But road crews were ready and started plowing and spreading salt/sand as they went. I braved the elements and went to town. Roads were very slick but drivers were using caution and driving for conditions. Snow clearing was in full force all over. More snow expected today unto tomorrow which is making snow related businesses, skiers, snowmobiles and winter sports folks ecstatic.

So will be a good day to cook up that squash and work on this past summers camping scrapbook and think of next. Reservations already in place for 4th of July week. Little snow shoveling thrown in too I’m sure. Already ran the blower over my drive yesterday but will have more to do as well as neighbors. Feels good to be out there in the snow again, after the mild but damp, drizzly, foggy weather of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and day after.

Beth, that was a fantastic picture your friend took, looks like tbe Sky is on Fire. Judy, bet you are going to be glad to be back in FL after being around head lice, sickies etc. Barbie, Lily is sure a pretty cat. Hope you will be able to keep her and Lola accepts her. Velda, so glad your eyesight continues to improve. Before long you will be good to go.

Morning is wasting here, need to get dressed and out of jammies, get that squash cooking etc. Want to wish all of you a Happy New Year. May all your hopes and dreams come true, those trips you plan be fulfilled, maybe some GTG’s happen and those with health issues, find improvement.

Good Morning Sue and all who follow. We are having a gray, cloudy day with some rain forecast for later and tomorrow. Going out to Olive Garden with some neighbors today (that is our version of ringing in the New Year LOL). Not the healthiest choice for my healthy eating program but I am just going with the flow, tomorrow is a new day ha ha

Been to the store already to avoid all the people getting their NYE snacks for tonight. I can watch the ball drop in New York city at 9pm, that works for me ha ha

Time to start my "30 projects in 30 days" again this year. Worked out really well last year. Some days it is a small project and then other days a bit larger. I am going to start by cleaning my blinds, might be a 2 day project I have lots ha ha Then will graduate to drawers, again of which I have lots. I just make sure I do at least ONE project a day. Surprising how quickly things get cleaned and sorted. I like to do this in January as there is no camping, weather is usually not great so perfect time to get clean. That way when spring gets here I can work outside while others are doing spring cleaning ha ha

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year for this 2020 Will also try to remember Rabbits....not sure that will happen.

Sue, I love when I see a post from you early. I read it while still half asleep, but always appreciate when you (or anyone) starts this thread so I can start my day with it.

Karen, I have a goal to get my rig reorganized this month. Maybe I should list things and try to do one a day. Reorganizing /sorting my scattered papers could easily be a longer project. But I've promised myself to get this place organized again.

Hope everyone has a great New Year's Eve even if it's to get to bed early. I'll probably be in bed, but rarely am asleep by then.

It's a sunny start to the last day of the decade ! No rain in our forecast in near future. 56 degrees at 11 am.
Since before my cataract surgery, and over past couple years, I've had some dry eye symptoms. At pre op Dr said my eyes were very dry and I had mild corneal abrasions. He recommended Refresh Opdiva. So, I went home and began researching the topic and bought the drops. Hated them! They contain glycerin and glued my eyelashes together! I got other drops I tolerate plus began warm compresses, castor oil drops, and high dose fish oil capsules. In just over a week at retest, my eyes looked much better. After surgery I stopped using CPAP ( I don't have apnea, I have airways that gradually tighten overnight), I didn't want anything g blowing in or around my fresh surgery eyes. Now I'm beginning to have my tightness and cough in morning, so was looking for solutions. I came across a website in Washungton, run by Rebecca, called Dry Eye Shop. I scheduled a call with her and this morning she called. I have ordered from her a goggle made to use with CPAP, but she carries many products eye related and founded Dry Eye Advocacy project. I'll let you know once the items I ordered arrive and try them.
I always look forward to you, Sue, to start my day, then coming back later in the day to read all the replies. It's like being greeted by your best friends every morning.
Judy, hope you escape bug land and get safely home to your house on wheels.
We will have a quiet New Years Eve and day here, munching on appetizers and watching tv and putting Legos together.
Karen- Olive Garden is doable. I order salad plus grilled salmon and it was delicious. I skipped the bread and rice or pasta and had steamed broccoli. Perfect low carb meal.
Have a wonderful rest of your day, and start to the new decade. I so well remember 1999 New Years Eve. Both sons seniors in HS, one with his girl friend here. Husband had been working hard at McClellan as the military hoped they had prepared right for Y2K ! By the time the clock flipped to midnight and the lights stayed on, it became an uneventful New Year and New Century. And here we are nearly 20 years later! How time does fly!
Happy New Year my dear friends. Travel safe, celebrate well, and hope we meet along the camping trails. 2020 adventures, here we come!
Velda

Sheila, I always enjoy coming here and reading your grand finale post of every night. Since you're on the west coast, I might see a post at 1 or 2:00 A.M. It's always good reading your post. I sure hope you get the generator going!

I got home about an hour ago. I brought my sister's Christmas presents and went up to the lake. The campground owner had called me about a vent being open on the camp trailer. I wasn't too worried about it because it was over the shower. I thought about spending the night but there wasn't a sole in the campground. The lake is still down because they are working on the spillway so you need a boat to really be able to fish. I don't like to drive at night but the weather was very nice today and tonight. I made it home before the drunks got on the road. The police are out in force. I saw a lot of them.

I'm trying to find out what network is going to show the fireworks from Reunion Tower in Dallas. Google is not helping me.

I like the "30 project in 30 days" idea. I'll have to think about that. Number one is get the Christmas crap out of the camper. lol

Sheila, hope you can get the generator fixed.
