Chilly Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Chilly Thursday

Postby JudyJB » Thu Dec 05, 2019 11:04 am

Guess I can be confident of this heading. It is Thursday, because I checked, and it is chilly here in Florida, but chilly is relative, so safe with that also. It is sunny today and that helps, even if it is chilly.

Working on grading final exams this week and dealing with student's asking me to reconsider grades--not too many of those, thankfully. Have to turn in grades next Thursday, and then will have almost a month to relax and get ready for next semester.

My Ohio son and his family have a very well-trained dog, so son says kids are trying to train cat using same techniques, like sending her to her bed. Does not work well, for obvious reasons, so son is trying to explain differences between dogs and cats. I ordered a couple of cat books for kids for Christmas that might help, but while cats can be trained, not quite the same as dogs!!!

Motorhome desperately needs brakes, but I took it is as scheduled yesterday, and shop was down to only one mechanic. In fact service guy was working as a mechanic, so I decided to bring it in another day. I called this morning and it looks like they will not get other mechanics back until Monday, so will take it in then. No driving until then, but i do have a rental scheduled for the weekend.

Thursday

I had no more written, I hadn’t sold the trailer, when I received a message, they wanted to buy it! So, pending the logistics of money changing hands, the trailer is sold!
Velda, good job on the eye surgery!!!
I forgot to mention my latest health test. It was an O2 level stress test. My resting O2 was 100 per cent. As we walked up and sown the hallway, continuing to measure my O2 level, my breathing became more and more labored. I was really gasping and the O2 never dropped below 100 percent!!! So, tomorrow on to the pulmonologist!!!

Judy tell the children: dogs have owners, cats have staff!
It's 59 out per my weather device. Sun is out at moment. Just had my Heat/AC company (must be MY company by now having written checks to them totaling over $75,000 through the years for 2 systems, ground loop, and various maintenance and repairs over nearly 30 years)! Had long time Geo Thermal system expert out to just check the system including thermostat (to make sure Mel didnt have any weird settings, which he did!) and check pressures in lines etc. all checks out good. Another check to write, but what's $184, when you just spent around $3000 on eye surgery upgrade!
Speaking of eyes, sight is improving a day at a time. Nothing is quite to my old RX glasses yet, when checked by putting glasses on and closing right then left, but it's getting there. Eye drops are not too much annoyance. I think driving tomorrow will be easy. Big disadvantage of cataract surgery: you quickly discover dirty windows you hadn't realized were so dirty! That goes mostly on list for spring, now that we are having rain almost daily!
Fascinated by the colors I hadn't realized had changed so drastically and how bright the world is!
Have a bright and beautiful day. I'm in mostly trying to behave as son reminds me I just had surgery two days ago.

Good afternoon ladies!

Judy, it's cool here in Ocala, too. Not sure if we ever got to the 70 degrees that was called for, but I'm still wearing jeans with leggings under those and a pull over sweater. We are seriously considering our options.

Lyn, so happy to hear about the sale of your trailer. One less thing to worry about. Please stay in the loop and go to gtg's when you can.

Mandy, so glad you are having good results with your cataract surgery. I only know one person who has not had good results and feel so badly for her.

The weather here is gradually getting warmer through the weekend and hope to get rid of the leggings tomorrow.

chilly here as well but have to remind myself it is winter it is December so guess we are due for some cold...
it doesn't help!!!! came to AZ to be warm!!! but it was much colder much faster last year .... and it would help if I would turn the buddy on... not sure what ails the generator ... it will die after I turn it on then will run once I turn it on again.. this isn't something that it's been doing from the start... so thought it needed more oil or the oil changed but can't get the blasted nut loose.... so added more oil since it went it guess it needed some but then it did it again.. perhaps I need to look at the filter and then remember what my sil told me to do... might have to call and get a refresher on it...think I am paranoid anyway... but paid enough it shouldn't do this is my thinking...
did go to Parker today and spent more than I told myself it's so easy to do... without even trying...
think I am going to go and get some reflective sheets (you see them in windows ect) and put them in front of the table with the cooler under it think that should block some of the heat and it is cooler will be hopefully as long as I need to use the ice chest... hopefully not much longer
wish someone would come and encourage me to get stuff done so I can put up my Christmas decorations see if I am going to like my 38 dollar tree...
Lyn mixed feelings about your trailer glad for you that it sold sad for us but hopefully you can come out anyway good luck with your drs visit hopefully he will have some answers
Velda glad it's going smoothly with your eyes... I am sure that you will continue to improve and all will be colorful in your world...

Lyn, glad you sold your trailer but sad that you won't be traveling anymore. Maybe you can rent a motel room in Q and come visit anyways.

I had a customer once who had caterac surgery and I asked how she liked the results. She said she was very upset. I asked why and she said because she had no idea she had so many wrinkles!! Lol!

Was pretty busy at work. Just before I got home, I realized I left my cell phone at work. I had to do the haircut on my friend's mom first before heading back to the shop for it.

A lady I met at the Thanksgiving dinner had brought a bottle of chocolate wine. I had a glass of it and it was really good. Very smooth and tasty! She said she bought it at the 99 cent store. I went to two 99 cent stores tonight and a Dollar General but found nothing there. I will have to ask her again. There are so many different types of "dollar" stores now, who knows which one she really got it from.

The sun was out today and was nice out. Sounds like the chance of rain this weekend is diminishing.

I am watching "The Nightmare Before Christmas" but am not really enjoying it. May switch over to the "Charlie Brown Christmas" instead.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Well hi there! I’ve been AWOL for quite a while for no special reason…just lazy and not much to say. However I have read the forum every day. So I’ve been keeping up on everyone. And I did remember to say Rabbits on the first most of the time! Wishing good health to those of you experiencing health problems. Safe travels to those of you on the road and happy snow birding to those of you that are already in a warmer climate for the winter. Not even going to try to mention names because I would be sure to miss someone.

I haven’t been doing much. Still bartending a couple days a month. Some of us are still going to the wellness center in the morning five days a week. Haddie’s daycare provider has had a fall that included a funeral and the wedding of her son and a gall bladder episode. So I’ve had Haddie more than normal since school started.

I had my 50th class reunion this summer. It was so much fun. We only had 27 in our class and two are deceased. Twenty people showed up and there were three classmates that I haven’t seen since the night we graduated.

We didn’t get much camping in this summer. Did make it to the 4th of July camp-a-thon! In August I ended up with pneumonia again and was in the hospital for 10 days. It took me about a month to recuperate from that. Second year in a row that I’ve ended up with pneumonia in August. (I must forget to say Rabbits on August 1st!) The doctor says is a combination of my asthma and high pollen. There were two other people in the hospital with the same thing.

I have the Christmas tree up and the house is decorated, the Nativity is in the front yard and most of my shopping is finished. Now I have to do some baking. I lucked out for Thanksgiving and Sean had it at his house. I’ll have Christmas and Ryan and Ashley will have Easter.

Bronc started kindergarten this year. He loves school and his teacher but isn’t especially fond of school lunches! He loves going to the Boys and Girls Club after school. I’m attaching a picture of the first day of school. Can you tell which one was really excited and which one was just a little pissy because she didn’t get to go to school and didn’t have a backpack?

So that’s about it for me. Think of all of you often.

I had to read that 3 times! :o  (not to make light of her rough situations, but the wording of that phrase caught my attention.)

Barbara, I have to agree with your customer who had cataract surgery. Quite a shock today when I stood if front of my sink and for the first time in my adult life (wore contacts in HS), I could clearly see my face without glasses! Boy do I need to learn to apply concealer, I have raccoon eyes esp right at moment!

OH MY!! Bronc and Haddie are so cute!! Doesn't seem possible Bronc is in kindergarten. So sorry you had pneumonia, maybe next year you can take some sort of preventative. So good to see you post.

Pat, I had to back track, when I read you had been so sick. Good grief! The picture of Bronc and Haddie is adorable! I can remember back in the day having to stay home when my sister went to school. But like many, I was already reading before I went to school.

I started a very large pan of homemade scalloped potatoes for a church luncheon tomorrow. The daughter of the Father in church is getting married and this is honor of her. I've never made such a large dish before and just returned the container into the convection oven because the potatoes still had a crunch to them. Steve thought they were perfect...good thing I tried. I have to give him credit though for slicing them with the mandolin without injuring himself.
