December Rabbits Roll Call

OK, so it is just after midnight. I did say "rabbits".

Sheila, people in SoCal go nuts over snow! The snow on the mountains behind me melted yesterday but the snow on the big mountains are beautiful! Tonight on the way home from work, I kept seeing clumps of snow on the road at each stop light. I finally caught up to two SUV's covered in snow and every time they started to go on a green light, some of the snow on their roofs fell off the back and onto the pavement! Lol! They had just come down from the mountains, probably playing up in Idyllwild for the weekend.

The high peaks of Mt San Jacinto behind the foothills.

Rabbits were remembered this morning.

Including a picture of Josef and the squeaky balls he found yesterday at Pet Smart. He has been going out to stores to practice his new obedience skills as he prepares for his up coming "job interview" next weekend. As many of you know from his posts on Facebook Josef has recently completed his Silver Grand Championship in the conformation ring. That was his goal and he now gets to retire and move on to new adventures. Another topic lately has been how retired show dogs are sometimes rehomed after their show and/or breeding careers have ended. Josef is one of those dogs or hopes to be. He and I are going up to Cindy's in Columbus to meet a family from Philadelphia that want to be his new family. Josef is so excited. The family have two children 10 and 12 and have recently lost their last English Cocker which they had gotten from a friend of Cindy and myself. Did I ever mention how much Josef craves attention. He is going to be an "only" dog.

And as lovely as Josef is with people he gets pretty pushy with Audrey and Lark, so their lives will be more relaxed and peaceful, too! Lark and Audrey will get to start working on Obedience and Rally.

The picture from the weekend he finished his Silver.

On another note: Audrey, Lark and I are planning to head to Florida before the middle of the month. The only reservation we have so far is at Silver Springs State Park because, as I mentioned to Liz, when I checked the website there was a 2 week opening! I won't be staying there for the whole two weeks but thought it prudent to grab the opening and pay the minimal fees for shortening it later as I figure out what else I plan to do. I am also planning to park at Liz's campground before I head north but those dates are not settled yet. Beyond that I have to decide how I want to divide up the time. Try to see multiple areas or park and relax in only a couple and concentrating to seeing (and paddling) what I can and staying warmer than I would be here in Ohio. Tough decisions but counting my blessing to be able to have choices.

I am still waiting to hear from the scoring center here in Ohio so that I know for sure if I need to be back in Ohio by the second week or so of January. I may stop at a cousin's house in GA on the way south but my daughter in Charlotte is having a large gathering at their house the weekend that I will be traveling south so we mutually decided that I would skip my usual stop on the way south and land in her driveway come January.

I think that catches up on at least some of the happening around here. Hope everyone is looking forward to a fine December.

Happy 1st! I did say Rabbits. Barbie, those pictures are gorgeous. Tina, I hope things go well with Josef and his potential new home. And you lucked into that site for Silver Springs. Very nice.

It's a chilly morning but looking to be a beautiful, sunny day for me to do more laundry and prep for the road. Haha, this feels similar to closing up a house, etc... But I'm hoping it's just more work this time because it's the first time doing it. My mess to organize inside my rig is simply my fault. :?

Good morning Everybody from beautiful, sunny and warm Florida. Tina, Sliver Springs is north of where I am in Bushnell, but not too far north for a gtg with you and Irmi and Steve. We just need to coordinate dates. JudyB will be in Florida too, but further south. Maybe we can catch her as she drives by. I’m not on Facebook, so I don’t know where everybody is.
Barbie, the snow on the mountains is so beautiful. I used to x country ski and snowshoe and loved being out in the snow, but those days are gone. Enjoy today. Peggy

Happy Rabbits Day, everyone! Tina, unless they have changed their policy, as long as you check in on time and spend at least one night in your campsite, Florida state parks will give you a full refund if you decide to leave early. I have done that several times. You just have to go to the campground office, in person, on the morning you want to leave and let them know. They will give you a receipt and send a refund to your Visa card. (I did this last time I was in Florida and had to evict a raccoon from my pass-through underneath storage area, plus was tired of the 95 degree days.)

Also, I will be in Fort Clinch from Dec 2-11, then Anastasia State Park at St. Augustine from Dec 12-15. but am then driving to MYakka SP, near Sarasota, where I have been three previous Christmas's. Will be visiting with my aunt and uncle in Venice.

I'll be doing a lot of flying around to Ohio and California over the holidays, but then will be back to Florida, staying at Gamble Rogers SP, near Flagler Beach for two weeks, before heading south to Midway. It's a long drive down there, but there are several COE and federal campgrounds with the senior discount I'll be staying at in January through March.

Here I am! Remembered rabbits this morning!
I have bought my new scooter! It is a learning experience to learn how to drive it. I am jerky with starting and stopping! Benji is adapting well. It’s me that needs more practice, not Benji!
I had a long visit with my doctor. After several tests, no new conclusions on the why of my shortness of breath! So, more test scheduled.
I wish I were in Florida to visit with all of you there now and in the ear future. The weather is fine for e here and I continue to do the watervjogging.
I read 228 books this year! A new record for me. Now with the scooter enabling me to get out and about, won’t be reading as much!
Barbie, those pictures are beautiful!!! I have ridden the tram to the top and x/c skied at San Jacinto. (Long time ago)
The people here also go crazy when there is snow in the local mountains.
Lyn

Barbie, you take beautiful pictures!

Peggy, I'll stay in touch to see what your plans are. Hopefully we can meet up with Tina, too!

When I narrow down the dates for what areas, I will let you know and we can plan from there. I will hopefully have the Honda with me so I can drive and visit. I did drop it off this afternoon for an oil change and a check up. As I drove it out of the back yard I stopped to take a picture. The odometer had just rolled over.... 100,000.1, and those are just on the engine. I think about, but don't stop to add up, the towed miles on the chassie..... LOL I figure with care it should be good for another ten years and 100,000 miles at least. It helps that I have the used Chrysler van to share the future miles.

Hi from rainy rainy rainy CA. Have you noticed how we go from one extreme to the other? Lol
Terrific pics Barbie and Tina. No pretty snow here. But I did get to spend quality doggie time with my Sister’s
over the past few days. There’s a cozy fire burning and turkey soup bubbling while I try to decide
fitting activities for the last month of the decade. Any ideas?!?

Better late than never. No rabbits here, but we do have 7 inches of snow out there from this latest storm. It’s pulling away now. I have my drive and dog areas cleared but will do follow up tomorrow as well as neighbors drive. There was a mass exodus of holiday travelers out of northern Michigan yesterday as people heeded the warnings to leave before the storm.

Barbie, beautiful pictures of the mountains. Lyn, you will master that scooter in no time. Did you sell your trailer? Haven’t heard anymore about it.

Nothing going on here other than been busy. Did snoop a bit on Black Friday as had a couple errands to run. Wasn’t in Walmart, but Lowe’s and Home Depot weren’t bad. Found some tool buys but haven’t got any yet. They will be around till Christmas. Did get some hanging /free standing LED lanterns for home and camping. Good to keep around in event of power outages.

My new dryer was delivered yesterday. Got a trial run today. I like. Clothes came out nice and fluffy and no hot dryer smell like my old one did. Decided that since it was 21 years old and came with the house, it was time to part ways.

Have a nice evening everyone.

If you think people in California go crazy for snow you should see people in Louisiana. A couple of years ago it snowed for our Christmas campout. Someone noticed it was snowing about 4:00 in the morning and started texting everyone. There were a bunch of women out playing in the one inch of snow. By the time the sun came up most of it was gone. This year it's going to be in the 70's for the campout. Yesterday it was 84 but only 75 today. I think it's going to be down to 34 tomorrow night but then back into the 70's. That's Louisiana for you.

I remembered rabbits right before midnight but then it was gone.

It's going to be a lucky family to get a beautiful dog like Joseph. He will be happy to have children to play with.

Sheila, your trip to Disneyland wore me out. Hope you get you and your stuff back home.

Martha

Hi all,
Holidays are exhausting!
Fixed a second Thanksgiving day dinner yesterday for the kids since DD & SIL were up from San Diego - had leftover turkey but everything else was made fresh. Spent yesterday at son's house with the new baby - DD cant' get enough of him. Thought I'd get some rest today after kids left for San Diego, but Olivia was itching to get out & go somewhere so I brought her back to my place to help decorate the tree. As I was taking her home, I explained that I'd be picking her up from school for the next couple of weeks since Mommy isn't driving yet & she replied, "Grandma, when mommy starts driving she can come pick me up. You need some time to relax at your home, watch some TV if you want to, & just have your own space for a while." Now you see why I love this little girl so much!

Work tomorrow - ugh! I'm tired! Still thinking about retirement in 2020. Mentioned it to my director last month - told him we'd talk more about it at my monthly meetings. Next meeting is tomorrow ;) It's just so hard giving up that paycheck & free health insurance - but I'm almost there.

Well, going to straighten up around here a bit & get to bed!
Take care,
Catherine

I had plans to clean up the deck and get some chores done, along with putting up decorations. But this morning I found out there was a pow wow going on at the casino down the street, so I decided to go check that out. The costumes (is that what they call them?) and dancing was amazing! Got some pics and video of some of it. Walked around the vendor tables. Most of the stuff was very expensive but I did by a pretty desert style wall hanging. The guy who was selling it gave me a good deal ($15) because he didn't want to pack up a fragile item for fear of breaking it. Says that happens a lot. He threw in a leather bracelet for me too. The wall hanging will be perfect for my Southwest design in my porch. It is already hanging on the wall out there.

So chores and decorating will take place tomorrow instead. I took the boxes of X-Mas decorations out of the shed already. I did have to go back out tonight to get batteries. My thermostat quit working because the batteries were dead. Was getting chilly in here after the sun went down.

I have been so confused about what day it is today! Started out thinking it was Wednesday. I guess Thanksgiving threw me off. Forgot about church but was able to watch the service later on YouTube.

Martha I must not have been clear that happens a lot as I tend to ramble on and on and don't punctuate which helps a lot... I got back to Q last night with all my stuff... I was so glad to be home...although not because of the stay in CA but I don't enjoy being at my sister's.. she is still in the hospital then I assume back to rehab.. for how long one never knows. I was going to go into a lot but decided it was best if I didn't.
I remembered Rabbits but not sure if it counted... had set the alarm to remind me when it was almost 12 I thought.... it hadn't gone off but was trying to make hot chocolate and muttered something about can't be out of propane when the alarm when off.... said rabbits rabbits rabbits.... turn off the phone and noticed the time was like 12:03  then remembered since the fridge isn't working I turned off the propane when I left and hadn't remembered to turn it back on...
so any way because I am on here daily there isn't much going on that you all aren't aware of. well be seeing Anita some time she decided to go to Salome for the month it's just out of town a bit...
I was suppose to pick up Shadows heart worm med totally forgot to do so he has his Dec one then out need to remember to give it to him.. so will have to go and get my mailbox set up and call and have it sent.
tomorrow want to do some cleaning find some things I think I need.. like c batteries didn't realize I am out and the radio batteries are on low... so need to replace them
we have a family chat on FB at 9 mt time I so over looked it last week so need to be ready to chat tonight
my mom sent me a paper that told of the day that a World War11 B17 pilot would have had on a bombing this incident was also the troop my dad was in not the same plane this one made it back my dad's didn't they went down close to Switzerland and were interned in Switzerland for a period of time should have been till the end of the war but he and another decided to walk away and find their troop.. so it was an interesting read...
hopefully tomorrow will get something done while shadows kennel is mostly cleaned off want to move it and vacuum under it... to do so need to run the genny to do so need to get gas put the last in tonight... and more propane it's been cold so turning the buddy on sooner... and want to get the new tree up.. and decorated
all have a great day
