Cold Mid Week Wednesdsy

Morning. Cold here again today but not as much as past two days and more norm temps heading this way as the week goes on. Had maybe an inch of snow last night but far cry from what they have had in the northern U.P. and other parts of the state. Some areas to my west have had 30 inches in past two days from a constant lake effect snow pattern.

O’Sharon, it’s really no trouble sending you my weather. We like to share and it kinda goes by itself, so I really don’t have to do anything  Glad you got most of your leaves cleaned up. Better than a lot of people can say here with the early snows and then the huge drop of oak leaves last week.

Velda, I agree with you on the grains. I cut sweets, potatoes, pasta and breads out of my diet last winter and felt great, had more energy not to mention losing weight. Got sloppy this summer and noticed the difference, so got back in the band wagon and feeling the difference again. I keep none of that stuff in the house, so no temptations. Not that I don’t have some once in awhile, like when I eat out and they come with my food. But they are sugar and carb foods and our bodies don’t need sugar and carbs. I eat more protein based foods and if I want a snack, I eat some peanuts or celery sticks.

Still working on my scrapbook and remembering fun times this past summer. Will be starting to make reservations for next year as the window opens for next spring, at the end of this month. Also thinking of a few painting projects in the house this winter. I do my inside things when the weather is lousy outside, cause when that sun shines I want to be out and about, even in winter.

So you all have a nice day out there. Tina, safe travels on the last leg of your journey, good luck at the dog show.

Good morning to all from beautiful San Carlos Mexico. We are now 288 miles into Mexico. I'm sorry to do this but it might warm every one up.

We will be here for a week before going towards Mazatlan. After we get settled in we head to this restaurant to relax and have lunch.
Yesterday found more damage from the blown tire - again with the fresh water tank. Another hose ripped off. Someone coming today to fix it.
Beautiful weather here - in low 80's from the cold front.
Going to make a couple of side trips between here and Mazatlan this year. Places we haven't been for a while.
Stay warm and safe on the roads.

I survived the night, and propane is still running. I did keep the furnace set a little lower than usual and also used a second blanket, but I was warm enough. Also, I learned that my water and waste tank areas are really too warm. I put in a remote thermometer and temps vary with furnace settings, but it has varied from 38 to 62 degrees! I have another thermometer in the area where my water pump and whole-house water filter is located, but it is not remote, so have not checked it yet. I have a light bulb there, but will be taking it out for tonight because it is not going to be quite so cold. Then will compare temps with and without bulb. Anyway, guess I don't have to worry anymore about tanks as long as I keep heat on low.

Anyhow, lesson learned is that if it starts snowing, put in slides so snow does not accumulate on slide awnings! Also, the ducted areas really work!

Off to the dermatologist, then to get propane fill, and finally to my PET scan this afternoon. Still really cold (15 degrees) but sun is out for at least a few hours.

Beautiful picture Carol! Am looking forward to hearing of the adventures you and Bill will be enjoying this winter.
I skipped several days of pool jogging, however am now back to going in the pool.
Martha, that static pain is a real Pain in the B###.
Barbie, you sound happy now with the Park filling with returning residents.
Beth, I remember spending your birthday with you and Sandie at that park near Yosemite and freezing!
We are experiencing a Solar Minimum. Big freezing cold all across the east. Will be a severe cold this winter.

Went to bed early last night and slept good. Am just getting caught up on here and FB before jumping into my big task for the day...going thru all the boxes in the porch for sale stuff and getting that all organized and priced. Need to go get price tags and a couple of signs to put out. Will get some balloons on Thursday to attach to the signs.
My neighbor brought over 2 large folding tables for me to use so that will be a big help. I will be able to park my car and golf cart in my other neighbors driveway since she doesn't have a car or cart. Weather is supposed to be 82 degrees on Friday so will be perfect!

Feel so bad for those in the eastern half of the country! What a nasty storm system and way too early in the season!

I hear more birds chirping now. They are making it back for the winter. I should get a bird feeder. After the sale, I need to start working on outdoor stuff. Get my swing put together, plant some flowers and tomatoes and strawberries in containers. Set up my little water fountain, etc. Will have to check with the authorities to see if I can get permission to paint the trim around the porch windows the teal green I picked out.

Enjoy your day! :D

Way past morning but finally got laptop to work on some sites (old, probably time to replace it). Have been reading to catch up on the forum.
I been in the deep freeze mentioned by others - actually hibernating past to days.
Working on Photobucket - deleting photos in hopes of getting some of those posted to appear clearly again. Photo bucket has blurred images for those over their new storage limit - which of course I am. May be hopeless cause.
Those of you on Facebook know I lost my darling fur baby, Nicky, on 25 Oct. It has been so hard without him.
Am now considering another dog.
Not much else going on around here.

It was 28 last night. I wrapped some of the outside faucets and covered them. Let the ones I was worried about run a little. I didn't find anything broken this morning. Some winters it never freezes here, I'm hoping for that winter. lol

Judy, glad your propane made the night. After last weekend I don't think I will make any more cold campouts unless we have a meeting room. Our Christmas campout is in three weeks. Since we have about 40 women coming we get the big meeting room with a full kitchen.

Sarah, I gave up on Photobucket. I never could delete enough pictures. I posted some using the new way to post pictures that is on here somewhere. Good luck with finding a new dog. I saw your pictures on Facebook. I lost Hank almost 2 months ago and I still miss him so much. I don't know that I can bring myself to get another dog.

I've seen pictures of Sarah's dog that she is considering such a cutie...
it's Weds and games there was 5 of us so enjoyed everyone.. so with games all afternoon and I wasted the morning
there really isn't much to report...
it was a beautiful day here but I for one hope we have a normal winter .... last winter got cold early and stayed till the end seriously I think it was still cold well into March... usually it's just a couple of months that one considers cold!
I really need to buckle down and do something so it looks like I am here to stay...
have a predicament. Normally Kerry is here by now usually beats me here... but do to all sorts of things she won't be here till after the 1st of Jan... and usually I have a friend that likes to walk lots...but her husband is almost 93 and has decided that they won't be back down even though they didn't camp close to me she would walk over and check on things a couple times a day while I am gone for any length of time... we have a Disneyland trip planned for the week of Thanksgiving and I am hating not having someone close by to keep an eye on stuff. I always take the outdoor stuff in but can't the generator I don't have a lock for the hitch and it's a different hitch than most so not sure if I can find one for it... so any ideas of what I can do to feel safer leaving? then my sister has finally gotten a surgery appointment (she has only been in rehab since Feb I believe with a spacer in place of a knee) in the past she has asked me to come help out again I am concerned with leaving the 5th wheel so a lone... wishing that Alice L was here again right now ... I am actually wishing that we didn't have that trip planned...but they got the house so we would all fit and can have a dog so would hate to not go plus it will just be nice to be with family. anyway that is what is occupying my mind

I tried deleting lots of photos from Photobucket but still didn't change anything.

Sarah, good luck with the dog search!

Sarah good luck and keep hunting. Small and cute and smart and not necessarily a puppy is out there.....waiting to be snuggled up with you......some breeders will rehome their show dogs, but you have to go in with a plan to show that you have support, etc and back up if your health takes unexpected dips.....

When my next-to-last Staffordshire Bull Terrier that I had bred went to the Rainbow Bridge - my sweet Rodrey James - at the age of 14 1/2 (Much too young! I was not ready to let him go!) I began the search for a new friend, even though Rod's litter sister was still with me - she lived another year, passing at 15 1/2.

I specifically did not want to breed or show dogs anymore, and I very specifically stated that I did not want a puppy. By some miracle a man who was (and is) a breeder of Staffords (since he was a young boy), and also a show judge, whom I had known - slightly - more than 20 years previously, contacted me (a longer story than this, of course) and said that he might have a retired show dog for me.

At the time, the dog was three years old, and as far as I can tell had never been in a home (he was basically a kennel dog). I did have a few concerns - I had never acquired an adult dog of this breed (only having raised puppies that I had bred), but this man had (and has!) an excellent reputation in the breed, and I know and understand this breed very well (having owned this breed for about forty years).

So I said "YES!!".

This dog is my Big Joe. He is one of the best "fits" to my personality and lifestyle of any dog I have ever been blessed to own. It surely was - and is - a match made in heaven.

My heart goes out to those like Martha and (Sarah?), and all those who have lost their much-loved fur baby.

With the wish - and the prayer - that they might yet find another dog (like I have been so blessed) that will again fill their hearts, and fill their lives.
