Good morning! Yep, it’s gotten colder at night here but glad we aren’t dealing with the lower temps and snow! It’ll come but hope not real soon! I mowed the yard yesterday for I’m thinking for the last time this season but then I think I said that last time I mowed! Beth, bet you’re glad you got out when you did! They are still tearing up the road for the water main and this morning I woke up to a jackhammer. Road is down to one lane with flag men so it’ll be interesting getting out of my driveway today. Luckily one is right in front of my house so that might make it easier. The good thing is that they aren’t working at night. Tina, been following your journey and enjoying your photos. Thanks for taking us along. Judy, hope you’re starting to feel better. Not much else happening in my life but going to enjoy the sunshine today. Hope you have a great day too!

Good Morning, Thinking of you and Nicky, Sarah. Positive thoughts for Nicky’s health.

I had my angiogram, and my heart arteries are in good shape. As I am still SOB, am going to be scheduled for a lung function test. I am discouraged, but like mt daughter says, my 88 year old body is just wearing out!

I do enjoy reading this forum each morning. Appreciate the pictures Tina is sending. Yes, Beth, aren’t you glad to be south of that storm. It sounds like a dusy.

Barbie, your move was a good one to get you around and mingling with interesting people!

Judy, sorry you are suffering with the shingles.

It is nice here. I will be going back into the pool today.

Lyn

Lyn, hoping that looking into lung function solves issues not bring more to the front. Yes, you have a few years on you but your daughter and we all know that the reason that you have kept moving this far along is because you keep moving. Having access to the pool is great. At least you have a daughter to shuttle you to the library. Sweet!

Thanks for chiming in, Lyn... Sounds like good news but more tests?

I'm definitely glad to be south. I'm hearing we're going to have a cold winter in the southwest. It won't be anything like what's already happening north. Meantime I'm truly enjoying the weather right now.

I'm deliberately parked overlooking a lake, chilling with books, etc. BUT, my having a car now is making me feel I should go and do. Well, no, that's not in the plans today and I'm not going to make myself guilty lol... I will go to the store tomorrow to replenish a few items but I need this down time.

Judy, my Mom suffered terribly from shingles... It's something I'm terrified of. I'm never the first to go for vaccines but want this one. It hasn't been available when I've tried. My heart goes out to you and I hope you're feeling better.

Off to walk Ty down by the lake.

Chilly morning here today but now the sun is out and shining brightly. High will be 68° so that sounds perfect to me. Going out to lunch with my neighbor today, he wants to take his new car for a drive so will be something to do.

Cut the cord from Directv today. They were just getting way too expensive for the few channels I actually watch. They offer you all kinds of things not to cancel but since AT&T bought them it has gone way down hill in my opinion. I signed up for basic cable that way I can get the local channels and some of the others I watch. Only got 1 dvr so I can record some of my favorite series that I watch. Have smart tv's in the other rooms so plenty to watch on that. I am not a huge tv watcher, especially during the day. I do like to watch some things in the evenings tho so thinking this will work just dandy. Might even cut the cable cord if I find I dont use it much. Cable doesnt have any contracts but by bundling my Internet and TV and cancelling Directv I am saving over $100 per month.

Lyn glad to hear no heart problems but. lungs I think can be problematic, hoping you find some sort of relief soon..

Have lots of housekeeping things to do this weekend but right now just enjoying puttering around the inside house.

Lyn, good to hear from you. Hope they can find what is causing your breathing issues.

Lots going on here today. Got woken up at 4am with a firetruck in front of my bedroom window followed by an ambulance. Once again for my 86 yo neighbor across the street. More heart issues but not bad enough to take her to the hospital. They were there for quite awhile tho. I went over to see her this morning and she is doing good. She will be getting an angiogram next week to check for blockages. She is very sweet!

The power was turned off here about 8am for some electrical maintenance in the park. No TV or wifi so I had no excuse for not getting stuff done around here!. Returned some library books, took some cardboard and trash to the dumpsters, dropped off a load of stuff at the thrift store and then stopped at my storage unit to load up my car. Luckily, there was less stuff left in there than I thought so I just have one small load left to get. Came home and started going thru all the stuff in my porch to get it organized and rearranged to make room for the storage unit stuff. Found quite a bit to get rid of and some stuff I can use in the trailer, and some things I can sell in the rummage sale here in November. I think everything in the storage unit and in my porch had at least and inch of dust on it!! My eyes are itchy and I have been sneezing and definitely need to take a shower to get all the dust off me now! Comes with living in a windy desert!

I got hungry and figured with the power off, all I could do is make a PB&J sandwich. It wasn't until a little later that I remembered that I have a gas stove! Duh! Oh well, the sandwich was good anyway.

The power just came back on so am relaxing and enjoying the AC before unloading my car and going back for the last load at the storage unit. Getting rid of that will save me $85 per month.

The parties around here are starting! More snowbirds coming back every day. Just saw two golf carts full of people with drinks in hand and having a good ole time, cruising down the street! There is a guy just down the street from me who just got back, who has a rooftop deck and I guess he is known to have some real good parties. Should be an very interesting and active winter! :D

Beth, you dodged a bullet, or rather, a blizzard! Up to a foot of snow expected in parts of MN. So early for that! Not even the middle of October yet!

Enjoy the rest of your day! :D

Earlier today I couldn't see the mountains to the northwest of here at all. I figured it was from all the dust blowing around from the high winds. Turns out there are two bad fires burning just east of LA so it was smoke, not dust. Several mobile homes have already been burned. One was started by a garbage truck that was on fire and the other by a trailer that was on fire.

Dropped off some more stuff to the thrift store and then loaded up the rest of what was in the storage unit, so that is all done. My porch doesn't look as bad as I thought it would with all the new stuff in there. It looks more organized now too. My white picket fence headboard that I took from the old house, I decided it won't work in my bedroom so was gonna donate that too, but then I thought that since it is the same width as my shed, I might cut the legs off it, paint it, and attach it to the front of the shed to make it look cuter. Another project for another day...

so for some reason the furnace isn't coming on.. guess that on and off wasn't due to low propane..
going to be a cold night need to get up in the morning and go over to Mom's that isn't going to be fun either... just because at 6 A.M. it is cold.. and who wants to crawl out of bed when it's so cold and if it's not heating at all that is going to be even worse if I hadn't used the stove would think that he didn't turn the propane back on when he filled it. Maybe some in the hose was enough to heat the soup might go see if I have a flame on the stove... I actually hope that is what is wrong not that it will help last time I tried to get that lid off I couldn't ...
Today is my mom's birthday still I choose to go over tomorrow it was better for my daughter as she has a meeting to attend
on Thursday 40 mins west of here so makes it hard for her to come get me and then go to her meeting and leave work on time. Tomorrow I plan on making something for Mom for her birthday dinner not sure what perhaps I will ask her...
so today I put stuff back in Frig and attempted to stay warm did feed the birds

After talking to a friend who had shingles several years ago, I guess I am lucky. Hers were big blisters and mine are tiny ones and really aren't seeping. She did not get the antivirals fast enough, while I got into the doctor the day after I noticed blisters, and two days after I noticed the rash. I read that you really need to get anti-viral meds fast or they do not work as well. She described having to keep them covered and how long it took to recover.

I picked up a second anti-viral to take for several months after the 10 days on the original anti-viral. Plus got more pain meds since I have left Eugene and am now headed east. Hard to get pain meds on the road, so doctor gave me a bunch. I have to drive 260 miles tomorrow, but will stop and nap if I have to or even stop earlier than planned if I am too sore and tired. Only drove 125 miles today.

So, all of you---Get your shingles vaccine--both kinds!! I did get the original shingles shot a few years ago, but not the newest one because of my other medical conditions.
