Friday and another dog show

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday and another dog show

Postby BirdbyBird » Fri Aug 23, 2019 9:40 am

Good Morning. Central time here. It only took a day to remember to set my watch. I was ready for the ring an hour early yesterday. I am wearing layers here in the AC in the convention center and loving it. Means I can wear a jacket in the ring without over heating. Hope everyone makes it a good day.

PS: Josef went Best of Breed and Owner Handler BOB yesterday. He also got the Group 1 placement in the Owner Handler Sporting Group. He does like Air Conditioning.....and chicken bait. Today is another new day to try again.

Good Morning, I am on my way to becoming well! Still weak, but up and moving around. Took a small load down to the TT yesterday, I am leaving here on the 27th.
Congratulations to Lark and Josef on your impressive wins. (Tina, you look good too!)
Barbie, following Lola’s health issues with concern. Excellent blog about your trip to Idllwild.

Yay for Josef!

Lyn, glad you’re feeling better!

Trying to get used to my bifocals today, got a nice low level headache and a hint of nausea, so far not enjoying them much.

It's raining again. There's suppose to be even more tomorrow and Sunday. There were ants in the sink again this morning so I went out and put more poison out. They are moving up on the cement because the yard is so wet.

Congratulations to Josef and good luck today. I would like the air conditioning too. This past weekend I would hang out in the meeting room just for the air conditioning. There were several crafts that we could do but I'm not a crafter. One craft was to decorate sugar cookies and everyone would vote on them. I decorated one cookie and ate it. lol We each had a small plaque with the outline of a vintage trailer. After I saw what others had done I could have copied their ideas. I have no imagination for something like that.

Lyn, glad you are feeling better.

I baked 2 pounds of bacon this morning. I like to keep some in the refrigerator so all I have to do is heat for a few seconds in the microwave. Today is fish day at the deli but don't feel like going to town. Don't want to do much of anything.

I'm thinking of Jean (Sparkle) today as it is her birthday. I miss that crazy lady. It's hard to believe she's been gone, geez, over 8 years.

Congrats, Josef! Lyn, glad you're on the mend. Nothing new to report here so I'll not waste any more time.

Glad you are feeling better, Lyn. Did anyone recognize you from those videos of knocking down scooters?

Been doing some heavy cleaning like vacuuming my bunks and part of the ceilings, but have a lot of work to do to get my class ready for fall and grade papers to finish the one up I am teaching right now. Am going outside in a bit to do some touching up of a scrape mark from 2 years ago! ABout time, right? But i just got some fresh touchup paint--old stuff I had was dried up. Also need to do some touching up on drawers inside, but that is tomorrow's task.

Started the day out pretty good, paying some bills, making some phone calls, started a load of laundry. Then I fell asleep on the couch...I am awake now a few hours later but still groggy. Need to get back to laundry and other things on my list! I missed Curves. I was gonna go this afternoon but forgot they close at noon on Fridays. By the time I remembered that, it was just after noon.

They are building a ramp today for my new neighbor's scooter, onto her deck.

Yesterday, when I was at the Goodwill, I also bought a brand new Perfect Pasta set for $8. A small and large pot each with lids that lock, with holes in them for draining. They are red to match the rest of my red stuff in my kitchen. I already have a small white one I got from my dad's house that I use a lot for just one or two servings of spaghetti. I will put that one in the camper. I was thinking I didn't need the larger one but then remembered I no longer have the large pot that goes with my set of red pots and pans, so that will come in handy if I cook things like corn on the cob, etc. Also got a cheese grater with it. It was all brand new, never been opened. So am happy about that!

The new owners of my dad's house also own a marina/restaurant on the lake that they just bought and are fixing up. It is a place we went to by boat when I was young and would eat on the deck over the water. Fun times! They have a lot of money. My friend next door there, says they seem very nice and have two teenage daughters. Hope they build a nice looking house.

For a day that was supposed to be cooler, it feels hotter than heck outside. The humidity must be higher. At least the smell is gone.

I better get back to work around here. Enjoy the rest of your day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Beth -

I miss Sparkle and her antics, too. I was always eager to open the forum to see what trouble she got into that day! Hard to believe it's been so long since we lost her.

Beth and Evie:

Please, in her honor, and her memory, please tell us about Sparkle for those of us who came after, so never got to know her.

Oh my, there are so many Sparkle stories! Does anyone have the picture still of her rig on the beach with water coming up the steps and in the door of her tt? She had been warned about high tide but chose to ignore the warnings.

Then there's the issue of her traveling with her husband in younger years because he had a dream to work a shrimping boat. Sparkle applied for and got a job first in a bar . He dropped her off and on she went. She quickly discovered the other "girls" disappearing into the back with men. This was not a normal bar lol. Sparkle and the owner discussed this wasn't the job for her. BUT she was stuck there until closing when her husband would pick her up. The owner sat her on a bar stool and plied her with alcohol all night (probably hoping she wasn't going to turn them in).

Here's a link with just one instance of her having fun on this forum.

Sparkle's stories were the best. She was alway up to something. When something would fall off the trailer she would just throw it in the truck and keep going. I have done that a few times and alway think of her.

I might have that picture in a file. I'll see if I can find it.

Martha, remember her accident on the interstate. She looked at her rig and kept on to her workamping job. She was stopped by the police because part of her rig was dragging, I believe. I don't know how she held it up, but on she continued. Insurance sent out an adjuster who declared the tt a total and gave her only a few days to get out. She was furious... Then went to take a shower and realized she could see outside from separations. She shouldn't have driven that tt at ask, but you couldn't tell her that. And I don't do the story justice. When she told it you'd be laughing the entire time, even while knowing she shouldn't have been driving.

I remember her accident. She was lucky she didn't turn over. I was on my way to New Jersey one time and had a piece fall off. I said I'm going to do what Sparkle would do. I put it in the side door and kept on going. Got it fixed when I got back.

How about Sparkles homemade doggie treats. She told me she offered them to pets of single men. Said it was a great icebreaker. :D

That one about Sparkle getting stuck in the sand at the beach -- if I remember correctly, the Marines came to her rescue, didn't they, Beth? Just happened to be jogging along the beach. Only Jean could drive a truck hauling a trailer onto the beach, get stuck up to her wahoo, and have some young, good looking Marines come to rescue her! I'd probably have lost my truck and trailer to quicksand and had a policeman give me a ticket for littering the beach!
