Heading out Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Heading out Wednesday

Postby BirdbyBird » Wed Aug 21, 2019 7:28 am

Morning. Hoping that you can find a good day out there.

Heading south to Owensboro, KY, this morning (about 250 miles) to set up for a dog show. Hoping to find a decent parking spot for the weekend. If I remember right it will be without electricity, but that saves money so I can deal with that. This show is not at a fairgrounds but rather a Convention Center right in town along the beautiful river front. Lark will enjoy her walks! May you create some interesting memories today.

Morning Tina!

Been working at my part time job this week, mostly training stuff since the tennis center doesn’t open for the year until September 3rd. It’s nice having money coming in instead of going out for a change.

Off today and it’s supposed to be stormy again, yesterday was a little unnerving with 70 mph straight line winds and record numbers of lightning strikes. But after today’s storms roll through we’re getting some nice cool weather.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Still putting things away from unloading after my camping trip. Had to take care of the garden yesterday. I only have tomatoes and squash and peppers planted BUT my tomatoes lost their minds while I was gone so need to do something with them today. Also giving to my neighbors LOL Laundry is done just need to do my sheets and towels from inside the house. Got a pile to go back out to the RV but I have time for that later.

Have my eye exam appointment this afternoon and I know I need new glasses....sheesh. Seems like I just got new ones but guess it has been 1 1/2 years so it is time.

Going to be a great day today, Only 82, cloudy with sun breaks BUT then the heat returns. I am looking forward to Fall, my favorite time of the year.

Getting out of town for the Labor day weekend. Going to go up and visit my BFF Laura for the weekend. She is busy trying to get her house organized since she moved right before we went camping for a week so this will be a fun weekend. Emma will be excited since she is totally fascinated by the cat LOL She just knew the cat was in her RV so she was glued to her door.

If it's not one thing, it's another, but I am making slow progress.

I thought my satellite dish was making the clanking racket--found out it was not, maybe the awnings making the noise. Found out from Dish my satellite receiver is so old it is not getting software updates. So spent $79 at Camping World and got new one. Managed to install it myself--just hooking up some wires. Camping World had no time to install it or check wiring. One wire extra, which I suspect is for old manual antenna. But still cannot get signal on TV. Working with dish, decided it must be loose coax cable. No Dish dealers in town, so been calling around to find RV service that would get someone to climb up on roof and check cable connection. May have fallen off or become loose when guys checked for clanking. Finally found one that did not want to store my rig until they had time in late September to work on it!!!!!!!!!!!! I am on my way over to that place right away.

Am in Klamuth Falls right now in Home Depot parking lot. Positive news is that I found out my CO detector is good for several years so no need to buy another one! Yea!

On my way to Eagle Lake for 8 days, and there is nothing there!! (Correction! Nothing in terms of a place that can fix or replace satellites!) Got a friend coming from the Bronx to Napa in 10 days so I want a working TV. Have several other small things I want to fix in next few days, so going to work on paint touch-up while at Eagle Lake, plus riding my bike. And they say RV living is not an adventure!!

Hey Judy, what do you mean, “there is nothing at Eagle Lake”. The lake is still there, isn’t it. Are the trees still there providing shade. You have electricity for air. Com on now...
What my darling GGS did. I bought him a little kids I pad. Never dreaming, it was hooked to my daughters Amazon account!!! He sat there one day and went into Amazon, on his kids IPad, went into apps and ordered $70 worth of aps! All by himself and only 4 years old!!! He is brilliant!!!
Of course, Amazon canceled the charges immediately. My daughter would love to get her credit card off the amazon account. Impossible I have heard.

Yes Judy, it's alway something with these RV's. I found out on my last trip that the generator wouldn't run. I have an appointment for September 30. Hope I don't need it before then. I still haven't figured out why my coach batteries were dead before my last trip. They charged and seem to be working now. I keep hearing that Direct is changing equipment and the new boxes won't work with the RV dishes. I keep getting email that they want me to get new receivers but I'm not going to until they won't work anymore.

I woke up with a migraine this morning and still have a slight headache. Probably should take some more aspirin. It's been a long time since I had a migraine. I went to the community water service to pay the deposit and get the information for a meter. We are still working on getting utilities for the old trailer. Went by to see which keys worked so I could give the electrician a set. The trailer is in a mess and I got too hot. Need to see who to talk to for a trash can so I can start throwing stuff away. The guy that's helping me thinks it will be done in a couple of weeks. I couldn't get it done in 3 years so I think 2 weeks is wishful thinking.

Emma can come play with my cats. There are 2 that really like Hank. If he lays down they are rubbing all over him. I'm not sure if he likes them or just puts up with them. I have to feed them behind the house when we get ready to walk so they don't follow us down the road.

Martha I am sure Emma would love it.

I have Directv in my RV also and I have the "mother Genie DVR" and 2 mini Genies but I also have the HR44 receiver (in my kitchen) people said would work in my RV and it does. If they do change anything more and I cannot use it in my RV I am dumping them. I have the Winegard Traveler for Directv mounted on my RV roof and it cost me a lot of money so if it becomes unusable I will be dumping them for sure. Right now it isnt working so I have to bring it in the house and hook it up and then call them to see if I need a new one.

Home from my eye exam, thought I needed new glasses again, BUT now I have cataracts sheesh. So was referred to the cataract eye center, not sure when that appt will be as they will call me. Cant have it done until October as I have things to do until then LOL

Lyn, every time I order something from Amazon, I go back into my account settings and remove my card. It does mean I have to re-enter it the next time, but that’s OK with me rather than leaving it in their system.

Work was fairly busy today. After I left there I had an hour and a half to kill before meeting my neighbors for dinner so I went to JC Penneys and bought some pants and tops for 40% off and got another 20% off at the checkout. Then I headed to the restaurant. Was an older group today and only one I have met before. Had a good conversation and food.

Got home and discovered Lola had major diarrhea all day! :o Her box was full and she managed to let loose on two of my new kitchen rugs. Not sure what brought that on after things have been going so well. :(

It hit 117 again today. Now it will start to go down thru the weekend.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

little over a year ago I was getting the satellite dish hooked up for direct tv... my sil usually does but he hadn't made it up yet and I was tired of waiting...they told me then that the receivers would be outdated come this past July... and they wouldn't be compatible with the dishes... I keep telling myself that I ought to look into what to do if that is true... but so far have not heard from Direct tv... it maybe that I will change as well... it is irritating they will offer breaks to get new accounts but not to the old accounts those keep going up every year... but I have the east coast/west coast so I get to watch regular networks when it works for me... if I am not home at 7 to watch a show like NCIS I will watch it at 9 sure hate to give that up...
Its cooling off at night still hot enough in the daytime though...
not sure what tomorrow will bring should do dishes... we will see...
Barbie I will put that recipe in recipes in a day or two perhaps even tonight but it's late so not sure
they just taste like banana bread but different texture I think I like them heard lots of yea's yesterday haven't talked with family to see what they thought.

Lyn, see my correction. Yes, it is almost all here, except there was a big forest fire just three miles from here last year. I was frustrated with my TV situation. I have the Roadtrip Mini Stat, whatever that is. I looked it up because people I called for repair kept asking.

To continue my saga, after I could not get a signal in the Home Depot parking lot, I called Dish again and the lady on the phone went through diagnostics and proclaimed it had to be the coax cable from the receiver to my satellite. So, I found one RV shop that would have some climb on my roof and check out the cables. Result was that they were fine, based on his meter which read the signals on both ends. So, will call Dish again tomorrow and try to find a place around Redding to buy a new satellite. I was planning on leaving here next Thursday, but it might be earlier depending on if i can get someone to sell me a new satellite, if I can figure out for sure that is what I need.

The good news is that I paid over $200 for my original receiver and the newer ones like the Wally I bought are only $79. I admit to being addicted to TV. But at least it does not add to my waist or create headaches like some other addictions! And watch those four-year-olds! My youngest granddaughter, at age 4, was home from pre-school in the afternoons while her brother and sister were at school all day. I used to get strange text messages from the granddaughter who was in school, except it was early afternoon when i knew she did not have access to her phone. Obviously, little sister was stealing it and sending out text messages at age four. She had learned how to read on her own, but the spell correction made for some strange messages.

Oh, and it is lovely and cool here at Eagle Lake!
