Wandering Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wandering Wednesday

Good morning gals!

I am getting ready to head up the mountain for a day or so of rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation! Will do some hiking too! Will be great to be outside and get some nice, clean, cool fresh air!

Just got an email from my friend who lives next door to my dad's old house. The house is up for sale now!! It has literally sat empty for 2 1/2 years since we sold it. Will be interesting to see how much it sells for this time. I haven't found the listing yet but I am sure it will be at least a million $ for the asking price, unless he is just trying to dump it.

Hope you all have a good day! :D

Have a good trip Barbie. I would like to go camping but the computer I ordered is coming in Thursday and the email says I have to sign for it. I'm not going to drive to the other side of Baton Rouge for just 2 days. My apple computer was making a noise yesterday. Sure hope it's not going out.

I rode to town with my neighbor to pick up the Mazda this morning. She is going to pick up some fresh shrimp this afternoon and I told her I want to go. I might have to throw something away to get them in the freezer.

It is raining again. I am sick of this weather and need to mow. There is a chance of rain for the next 10 days.

Another warm, at or near 100 day in northern California ! It's kind of a rough time emotionally remembering what we were going through a year ago as Mel's death approached. I'll get through it, but being gentle with myself. Still working on the house and have a couple things to get done on van for future trips. Fridge propane pilot works but main burner doesn't light and generator again won't start! Trying to be ready for September overnight to my HS picnic and the PowWow in October. Stay safe everyone. Sister in law in Wichita Ks says they will see 100 degrees with near that humidity, which is very bad and guessing others face same.

It was 103 yesterday here at LePage Park, along the Columbia River, about 25 miles east of The Dalles! Today it is only supposed to get to 100. I went out about an hour ago and dumped my tanks and my trash, so I am set to hibernate until the afternoon sun goes down behind the hills next to us. Campground is about half full, but will fill up on the weekend. I am leaving Saturday morning to head to Bend and then Eugene on Sunday. Kidney stone procedure.surgery will be on Monday.

My left eye has been doing fine, but the right one is still itchy and scratchy, so I am using artificial tears along with the regular eye drops they give you. Hope it gets better soon. The bright sun also bothers me, so I am wearing a hat outdoors, but keeping the daytime shades drawn inside to rest my eyes. I am hoping I can order some prescription sunglasses soon.

Not much else going on except I am supposed to be getting papers to sign for my aunt and uncles condo in Florida. Glad to see it go because empty it is just a money drain. One down and two to go!!!

Greetings from The Blob. All I have been doing is resting on the couch. I did buy a rug shampooer from Amazon that I really like. I only do a little at a time as it is hard on my back. Traveling for those two months and not doing back exercises was very stupid. I am now paying the price!
Barbie, are you going up into Idlewild?
Being on the coast is nice with those ocean breezes.
Cheryl, glad you are back among the traveling again.
As I now have another wedding in Sept, in Southern Calif, I am not going to the pow=wow this year. Darn those grandkids! Altho, other grands will be presenting me with two more greats as they are expecting twin boys!!!

It started raining a little when I left the house, just a few drops here and there tho. But the humidity felt high. Took my time driving up here (yes I am staying in Idyllwild), stopping to take pics along the way. Such a scenic drive! Took pics of the fire damage too, from last years Cranston Fire up here. Luckily, they were able to keep the fire away from the two small towns up here, but barely! They are having a bunch of bands and musicians up here this weekend playing at 100 different stages (not sure where they will put them all! This is a tiny town in the forest!) and the money donated goes to the people here that were affected by the fire. Normally they would be having their well-known Jazz In The Pines event this weekend but that was cancelled this year so they decided to do this benefit event instead. The musicians are all volunteering their time and talent for this.

I am in my cottage/cabin right now but will be heading out for the parks and trails shortly. The owner of this place gave me a map of the trails around here which is helpful. Now I need to make a plan!

Sounds like lots of heat all over the place again. I think it is about 80* here right now. Definitely comfortable!

Barbie, no trailer? That hwy 243 up to Idlewild from Banning is very doable for your trailer. I have been up it several times! Lyn

Things barely got busy... And not as busy as we'd like. We expected to stay busy through today and start slowing down tomorrow. We died today! I'm hoping the closing shift will pick up some, but I just came from there and I think it's wishful thinking.

It's all downhill from here. :) The hard part now is I want to hit the road... And that's a ways away. I guess I'll have to start doing some daydreaming about the first month back on the road. Since Karen will be in a part of NM I haven't been to in a few years I'm planning on a week or more there early October, weather permitting. It'll be great to gtg, even if she doesn't know it yet lol

Second post today. This was the third day of 102 degrees or slightly more. I have decided I am NOT going to do this again! Someone give me a virtual slap across the head if I do this again!!!!!! The thing is that I knew there was the possibility of really hot weather here, but I had been checking the weather for several weeks, and it looked like it would be in the 80s and low 90s, which is doable, but at the last minute, it turned out to be hotter. And the BIG problem is that it is hard in the summer to get a different place at the last moment.

Tomorrow is going to be 89, which will feel like a cold wave. I got a call from my urologist, so I have to go into The Dalles tomorrow and get another complete blood count done because they are concerned about my platelets. Actually, they are at 91, which is pretty good for me. In early May, they were only at 51, so 91 looks good. (150-400 is normal, and concern is that low platelets cause bleeding.).

I also need to go to a bank to get the closing papers for the sale of my aunt and uncle's condo notarized. Then I need to find a Fed-ex drop box and send them to Florida. That will be one less set of utility bills, condo fees, and taxes and such. One down, but next two properties will be harder to sell. I have also been getting calls from doctors and dentists asking permission to treat them. And, my aunt fell the other day and the facility called 911 to have them take her to the hospital. Ambulance driver checked her out and told me it was a small bump and he did not think she really needed to go to hospital, which I agreed to. Both aunt and uncle were in tears and panicked because they did not want one to go and the other left home. They literally have not been separated in 20 years-not healthy. Anyway, the POA stuff is not easy, and I just handle medical stuff. The other POA handles the bill paying.

Another hour and it will cool enough to go out. Don't know how those of you in hot climates handle it.

My mom has this theory whether it actually hold water or not I don't know but when it gets hot here like in the 90's it feels so hot she says it cause of the elevation... we are closer to the sun so it feels hotter  it's been hot this week but not unbearably so... sorry you are feeling it so badly Judy... Kerry (I don't think you know her she used to be on the forum but hasn't been for several years) lives in Bend in the summer's. when she isn't elsewhere...
been gathering up stuff to take to Ogden... for one person and one dog I sure take a lot...lol
been a skunk going through the area the last few nights... makes for a really smelly time  really noticeable
in the trailer
there is one area on the treasure chest that is lighter than the rest so aggravating even put a 3rd coat on it almost left it on too long and it is still noticeably lighter... guess we will live with it. assume it is a different piece of wood there... but why it isn't soaking in the stain who knows.
hanging out with Property Brother's haven't seen them in a long time... but the show on ID was one I've seen recently.
and another 3 rows on the afghan. it's half done now!!! :D

Lyn, Hwy 243 from Banning is closed due to the storm on Valentines Day that washed away part of the road down the side of the mountain. Will be closed for about 2 years.

Image

Hwy 74 coming up from Palm Desert is a bit dicey but could be doable after a few drinks for courage :o (just kidding! ). My trailer isn't ready for traveling yet. Need to install a WD/sway hitch yet and get new tires.

I spent part of the afternoon hiking several trails at the Nature Center near town. I had a little picnic there, and the forest trails were beautiful! There was apparently a fire thru there awhile back (not the one from last year) since a lot of the trees are burned but lots of green too. The fresh air was awesome. It was so quiet other than an occasional bird chirping. The only "wildlife" I saw were several small lizards. Luckily, no snakes. After walking thru there I drove about 10 miles up to Lake Fulmor, a small mountain lake. There is a trail that goes all around the lake but it is closed at one end now due to a ginormous pine tree that fell across the walking bridge to the other side. I walked back around to the other side from the road. Got lots of photos! Such a beautiful setting! Really nice picnic areas overlooking the lake surrounded by tall pine trees. All surrounded by more mountains. The smell of pine trees was awesome! Weather was perfect!

Came back to town and had dinner at a local restaurant/bar. Now just relaxing in my cottage/cabin. (I call it that because it looks like a cottage on the outside and looks like a cabin on the inside.) Am very tired! I will sleep very good tonight!

Tomorrow will get some breakfast just down the street and then will maybe do some local hiking and check out some shops in town before heading back home.
