First Monday of August

Good morning all. Fog is finally burning off and it looks like a nice day. Pop up storms possible this afternoon so I need to get outside earlier than later! I spent part of yesterday helping at son’s new house. Still a construction zone and it seems like we’re just moving boxes from one place to another. Not easy to live in a house being built! Mostly living in their RV but the air is out. Apparently it got hit during the storm the other day. So we moved boxes out of their bedroom so they could set up their bed. The air conditioning is running in the house. So later today I’m going to go and clean and try to set up cupboards in the kitchen. The guy was supposed to show up last week to lay the tile in the kitchen but they’re still waiting for him! So trying to work around that setback. My luck I’ll show up this afternoon and he’ll be there so I’ll have to put off the kitchen project for a few days! Looking forward to a few days of camping with Donna this weekend! I’ll probably be ready to “just be” for a few days. Interesting conversation yesterday about heat and staying cool in our younger years without air conditioning. My memory of traveling was having to get up early and starting out in the cooler part of the day. Then folks would find a motel to stop out in the hotter part of the day. Many trips in that 53 Chevy! Usually when Dad was transferred for the military. Those were our vacations. Need to get busy and start some laundry and check if I can mow yet. Have a good day and enjoy your day.

You are right it's not easy to live in a house under construction. When my dad retired he took 2 months and went to where my grandparents lived and started building a house. We moved in the week before Halloween. It had sub walls and sub floors. The only room with walls was the bathroom. The kitchen was mostly set up so mother could cook and there was a gas heater in the living room and bath room. We had quite a few cold nights before everything got closed in. We would go to school and come home and work on the house. My job was to put the strips on the wall board seams and paint. My brothers were doing carpentry. I don't know that my dad ever hired anyone to do anything. They were tearing down old barracks at Ft Polk so most of the lumber and all the windows came from there. My brother in Canada has completely remodeled his house himself.

Someones fax machine is calling my number. It has already called 3 times. Wonder how long it will take them to figure out they have the wrong number?

Not doing much. I made a reservation for our October campout at Toledo Bend Lake. I have never been to the South state park. I love going to that lake. I probably need to make reservations for the September campout but I don't like that campground much. The sites are not level and very hard to get a camper level. I wish they would make some improvements there.

It hasn't rained yet but there are scattered showers around. It needs to dry up so I can mow.

Just got home from work. It is currently 120* outside! I skipped Curves partly because of the heat (don't like walking out of there all hot and sweaty and getting into a super hot car!) and partly because I have some pain in my elbow today for some reason. Will try to get there tomorrow morning if my elbow feels better.

I just made a reservation for a cottage in Idyllwild for Wednesday night (only $60!). I will leave early on Wednesday morning and drive up there, stop at a couple parks to do some hiking and photo taking and then relax. Will explore downtown on Thursday before heading back in the afternoon. Will be nice to get some fresh air and exercise for a day or two!

Will probably have to make a run for WM later on to pick up a few things for the trip. The cottage has a kitchenette so I can make a meal or two there. I also want to make a picnic lunch to bring with, for one of the parks I am going to that has a lake with a picnic area next to it.

It is a bit stuffy in my house. The AC is having a hard time keeping up with the heat. I have the ceiling fan and another fan blowing on me as well. I think it is 82* in here and I have it set at 75*. The living room only has one AC vent so it gets the warmest from the other rooms, plus it has the most windows. I have the blinds closed which helps some.

I ordered Lola's prescription food in the dry formula which just arrived and she seems to really like it. It is less expensive and less messy than the canned food, so am glad she is OK with it so far.

Have a good day! :D

Oh Barbie that is hot. I remember those days when I lived in Redding. I was complaining how hot it was outside here today 97° with a light "blow dryer" breeze. Went out to do something in the shed and just went oh heck no...came back inside. MY AC is working very well I do keep it at about 76 or 77 and also have a box fan in my living room and a smaller one in my bedroom. (along with a ceiling fan over my bed). It usually cools down at night and I can open my windows and doors but last few nights I have gone to bed way before the cool down came.

Only a few more days before I get to take off for the coast and then just read our temps are dropping here and will be in the 80's. Oh well I will be at the coast relaxing and eating seafood.

I am going to make a meatloaf in my Air Fryer tomorrow. I usually make it in my Instant Pot but people are raving about how good it turns out so we will see. I love meatloaf sandwiches the next day or two.

Let us know how the meatloaf turns out. I bought a small air fryer but haven't used it. I don't know where the book is, probably in the mess on my desk.

I've been considering getting an air fryer. So do you all use yours regularly? Are you glad you purchased one?

made one of those think this is a good idea will do it only to wonder if it actually was the best.
my dd that I usually drive to Jackson with didn't go to work today so I drove in later than I typically would... had hopes
that I would miss the rush hour traffic... may have but it still was busy going over the pass then from Wilson to Jackson in some places I was only doing 5 mph... :o had to get fuel so while there I decided to just back track a ways and go down a back road thought it would save me traffic (it did) but 35 sometimes 15 instead of 55 oh well so I called mom told her I would see her in the afternoon. Met Anita out at the ranch talked about our mini GTG on the campfire so won't re tell... then came into town. visited with mom watched a cute movie don't remember seeing it before and then we went to Chinatown... Mom isn't a cheap date  the seafood sizzling platter was her choice... yep and she only ate about 3 serving spoonfuls... she has dinner for the next week because I left mine with her... thought that DD would be there but she won't tomorrow night hope it doesn't get wasted... I almost think the 10 appetizer plate would have been our best bet.. or go at lunch time when its cheaper and you get soup with it
then home was a good day
so enjoyed my time with Anita
was going to Ut tomorrow but will delay a day dd needs my truck to get to work but her brakes will be done tomorrow by when she gets home.
so down to Utah on Weds.

Beth I was reluctant to purchase one as I thought the NuWave was similar to the Air Fryer. BUT I took a chance and yes I love it. It does pretty much the same thing as the NuWave but it heats up to a temp of 400 instead of only 350. Makes things nice and crispy that are supposed to be crispy. I love my baked potatoes done in it. Also pork chops and chicken turn out very well. I use mine 3 or 4 times a week. I even bought a 3.5L Chefman for the Motorhome, so yup I like it.

I bought the small Dash air fryer so I could take it in the motorhome. The basket is only about 6 inches across so I will probably have to cut recipes in half for it.
