I had no problems with my left eye, but this right eye is really bothering me--itching and mild burning. Called cataract surgeon's office and lady said that was OK as long as the eye is not red and there no indication of infection. Said to just keep using my eye drops and using artificial tears in between as needed.
I have a "lessons learned" about the new Recreation.gov site. It used to be that you could make a reservation and then make another reservation that slightly overlapped the end of the first reservation. That way you could cancel the the end of the first reservation after you had another one.
As some of us have discussed in the past, it is getting harder to make reservations in busy places like Florida, which is what I am trying to do lately. I made several state park reservations a few months ago when they opened. Now the state parks are very full. But the federal facilities do not take reservations until 6 months before the date. Sites are almost always taken within seconds of their becoming open because they are so popular!! I made a 14-day reservation at Midway, but then tried to make a reservation at Ortona 12 days later. I got a site, but the system kept telling me I had used my senior pass too many times that day. After a phone call, I was told it really meant that the system knew I already had used it for an overlapping reservation and could not use it again as long as I had that reservation. I could make a reservation at the regular $30 per night price, but I really want to use the senior discount and pay only $15.
No problem. I would make a reservation and while my cart had time on it, I would use another browser and try to cancel the last 2 days of the first reservation. Nope. Can't do that. Can't cancel days on a reservation until 18 days have passed!!! So, I have to keep my fingers crossed that somehow I will be able to make a reservation on the day the first one is cancelled. This means there is a good chance I might not get a reservation at the new place because of all the competition for spaces.
Florida State Parks, on the other hand, don't take passes, but they DO allow you to make overlapping reservations and then after you have arrived, you can cancel days at the end and get a full refund. And you can do this on the same day as you want to leave as long as you do it before the 11:00 am checkout. I might have to fill in spaces with a couple of very short state park stays.
All this has meant getting up early two days in a row to try to make a reservation with no luck. Will try again in two days. There are just too many people on the road these days! Wish me luck.
