Last July Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last July Tuesday

Postby gypsyrose1126 » Tue Jul 30, 2019 9:43 am

Where has July gone!! Summer is half over and it seems like it just got here! Another beautiful day in WI. Nothing much happening today, I am busy getting stuff packed. Have a friend stopping in tomorrow overnight on her way to Green Bay. I leave on Friday for Canada. Weather still a little chilly up there, hope no snow!
Anyone planning on being in WI this fall? I don't post often but do read all the new posts every day that I have service, thanks for the entertainment and information.

Hope everyone has a nice day and safe travels.

Good morning, Rosemary and all who follow.

Not much doing here, I applied for a part time job yesterday and the amount of time and effort it took was staggering, two full hours and that was with an already prepared resume and cover letter. I keep hearing about a lack of quality job applicants, maybe it’s just that many folks won’t jump through that many hoops for a part time job with no benefits?

It's raining again. The radar shows rain all over the state. I'm waiting on the Honda place to call me back for a service appointment. I just love waiting on people. I should have given them my cell phone number.

Mickie, when I was mowing the other day I thought this is a sit down job maybe you could get a job mowing. lol That seems to be my main job now. When I think about all the stuff I had to put up with at work over the years I hope I never have to get another job. I just loved when they ask stupid questions like what your goals are. I think I have a bad attitude now.

Martha, the application was filled with questions like that. I’m like “just give me the job and leave me alone!”

I hate job interview questions! Sometimes I just make things up to sound good! Stupid questions! Like "tell me a time you had such and such situation and how you handled it." I can't remember things like that on the spot, so I just make up a story telling what I would actually do in a situation like that.

Yesterday I went to Curves and then stopped to put some bedding and things in Roxy. Just threw it on the bed since it was too hot to actually stay in there to make the bed up.

Work was fairly slow yesterday. We had a guy come in one minute before closing (grr!) for a haircut. But he gave me a $15 tip! So that was worth staying a little late for!

Went thru another bin out in the porch, of kitchen stuff and found a loaf of bread. Do you think it is still good??

I signed up for a painting party meetup group event at a wine and art place. They provide wine, paint and show you a painting that you follow their instructions on how to paint it. Looks like fun! I haven't painted in a long time! That is a week from Friday.

I am hoping the Home Depot people are still coming tomorrow with my new microwave and stove set-up. Haven't heard from them yet about a time. May have to call them.

Have a good day!

Barbie, when I moved in 1997 from a house to my condo, my mother and aunts packed up my kitchen and decided since I was only moving a couple of miles that the frozen stuff would keep for a couple of hours. Problem was that that box got lost. Found it 6 weeks later on the bottom of a stack of boxes in my basement. Needless to say the food was no good, especially the ice cream!

I am sitting at a rest area along the Columbia River resting my eyes from the sun--got shades drawn. I have very good distance vision after my cataract surgery, but the bright sunlight really bothers me. I might have to get some sunglasses. I went to Lenscrafters yesterday, but the ophthalmologist said no way could I get glasses for at least 2-4 weeks because my eyes, especially the right one, were still swollen and would affect my vision. But I did buy a better pair of reading glasses and made an appointment for Aug 14, and hopefully can order glasses then. I want transition glasses with the top part with no prescription for distance but reading glasses in the bottom part. I can wear them outdoors and to drive, and they will be dark enough so my eyes will not get so tired.

He also told me i needed to use my eye drops more often, especially the one that contains prednisone, to reduce my eye irritation and swelling. Been doing that--even in the middle of last night. I only have 30 more miles to drive today, so need to get moving.

Judy, I'm surprised they didn't give you dark sunglasses after your surgery. Everyone I know who has had cataract surgery have been told not to go outside without them on in any sun for at least a couple weeks. And were told not to get glasses for that time frame or longer or they'd be needing to replace them very shortly.

Just preparing for Sturgis here. I don't expect it be be terribly busy, but who knows.

I do have the sunglasses they gave me, but they fall off because they are too big. However, they never told me to wear them all the time outside. Maybe they forgot?? They also are kind of junky and the lenses are not very clear. I will try them tomorrow, however.

I am happy to have the MCD daytime shades that are black mesh because I can pull them down and still see through them. I also have the front cab mesh curtain I made several years ago.

Was a really long day at work. Only did 2 haircuts! Got to know my manager better tho. We had a lot of time to talk!

Yesterday in the parking lot where I work, a woman left her dog in her car to go shopping. It was 115* and sunny. Someone called 911 and then tried to get in the car. One window was partially open and they were able to get the door open to get the dog out. The police arrived and arrested the owner when she came out of the store. The dog was taken to a vet. I just don't understand how someone can leave a dog in their car in this kind of heat. When I have to take Lola to the vet, I cool off the car for about 10 minutes before I take her out to the car. And leaving the vet, I cool the car off before putting her back in the car. The day I left Vista to move out here I had to stop and drop off my Cox internet box and I brought her in the store with me and it was only 80* out that day but I didn't want to leave her even for 5 minutes in the car. To me, it is just common sense.

I was thinking that tomorrow is August 1st, but not until Thursday. My stove and microwave won't be here until then. So I have another day to get things more out of the way in the porch to make room for them to bring in the stove. I have the next 3 days off so have lots of time to get more stuff put away.

I am with you Barbie don't understand the kids or the pets being left in the car...
I rarely take Shadow in the car... I am afraid that someone will think it is too hot... even at 70 so unless there is a need for him to
come he doesn't... I try to make sure the the 5th wheel is as cool as I can make it
