It’s Friday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

It’s Friday!

Postby Colliemom » Fri Jul 19, 2019 6:55 am

Morning y’all. Sitting here watching Weather Channel. Huge severe storm gonna pass just a few miles south of me, but expect we will see a little rain. But it is very still out there. Reports of downed trees coming in in the affected areas now. Today is supposed to be the hottest this week, around 90. Can’t complain as hasn’t been too bad here this week. . Temps around low 80’s, nice breezes and humidity levels staying around 70%, dewpoints in the 60’s.and lows in the 60’s. plus there’s been some cloud cover, keeping that hot sun off. By late tomorrow it will be outta here. I have been able to keep the house open, but today looks like will have to start up my free standing AC. I haven’t been doing much physical stuff this week as even with the humidity not too bad and breeze blowing, it doesn’t take long to get into a sweat. But have been catching up on little things around in the house and Thinking up some meals for upcoming trip. Once this weather is gone, then can get my trailer cleaned up inside and out and finish getting ready to roll.

Mickie, congrats on new job. More green to go play later :) Irmi, you are having quite the adventures on your trip through the U.S. Memories to last a lifetime.

Not sure what’s on agenda here today. Might go visit a friend or might stick around here. Property Owners Assoc. Meeting tomorrow morning will take care of part of tomorrow. But right now it’s time to get cleaned up and see where this day is going. Will decide after this weather front passes on. Have a nice day everyone and stay wellin this heat wave that’s gripping a lot of the country and safe if you are on the roads.

Good morning Everybody.
Mickie, I worked part time for years after I retired and enjoyed it. Hope you will find the extra money worth your time.
Judy B did you make a reservation for the Hillsborough FL GTG March 8-15 2020? I think I will be in FL this winter instead of the Southwest as the long drive is getting to me, and I would like to attend. I know I could join Facebook and get all the info, but I don’t want to do that right now. So, are you going and what info can you share? You can PM if you like. Thanks.
It’s going to be hot here too, but try to enjoy what the day brings. Peggy

Morning everyone!

Sue - hope the storm stays south of you, the big storms we’ve been getting seem more violent than ever.

Right now it’s just beastly hot here, he low last night was 81, that’s very rare! We’re off to play in the university pool this afternoon, that ought to keep us cool.

Good morning! Just got back home after a wonderful week up in New York. I didn’t really want to leave yesterday but after looking at the weather decided it would be best to leave. With the dog I don’t like to travel in the extremely hot temps. And since this whole area is under a heat warning figured it to be the best day to travel. I managed to get Lola unloaded and now have to deal with putting away and doing laundry. Surprised that my yard isn’t as bad as I expected! But the weeds have had a great time taking over! They’ll have a few more days to grow cause I’m not going to tackle them until this weather breaks the first of next week. Not really complaining about the heat but the humidity is brutal! I’ve been trying to keep up with everyone’s posts but fear I’m behind! Today might be a good day to catch up! Coffee is finished so guess I’d better get to my chores! Hope you all have a good day.

Looks like it's going to be another hot day. I have missed the window to do anything before it gets too hot. Today is trash pick up day and I did manage almost fill the can. Yesterday afternoon late I finished mowing in front of the barn. I tried to burn the broken limbs in my trash burn bin but they were still too green. We probably had about 15 inches of rain for Barry but for some reason the Governor called for a burn ban. I'm going to play like I don't know that. lol

Tuesday night for my Cattle Women meeting we had brisket sandwiches for our meal. The local store sells whole briskets but they are about $50 or more and I don't have room to cut one up for the freezer. I found a piece of brisket already trimmed and seasoned at Walmart. It was only 3 1/2 pounds. I wasn't sure how to cook it so cooked it in the slow cooker like a Mississippi Roast. I had to cook it all day to get it tender but it was good. I should get my fill of brisket this week.

Peggy, I sent you a PM with information about the Hillsborough GTG. I signed up for it and just hope I will be able to go. I seldom leave for more than 3 or 4 days and this would take me almost 2 weeks.

I heard the sounds of a cat fight and saw the neighbors dog headed for home. If he can get a cat to run he will chase it. Inky and Mini Moo have had enough of that and gang up on him.

Slept in this morning.

I wasn't planning to go out today but Lola isn't feeling good this morning and seems very dehydrated again so will be bringing her in shortly. She is back to the diarrhea again and last night she also threw up what looked the same as the diarrhea. Never seen that before. Am taking her back to the first vet since he is much more reasonable price-wise and very good. The last vet we went to is an emergency vet clinic (since it was on a weekend that I brought her in) and they are well-known for ripping people off, like they did with me.

Wanted to stop at the library to pick up some books I ordered on-line but they are closed today. Will have to go tomorrow.

Have a good day!

Good for Inki & MiniMoo, Martha. Good to hear they chased that dog home! We have a new neighbor in the building. Has a Hugh cat with a long fluffy tail. However, the tail has been shaved to just the end, and a large ball of fur left. I haven’t met the humans yet to ask them about it. The cat loves sitting in the window on its viewing platform.
Benji got his grooming done this morning....he looks great!
Comic Con is here! Saw a couple of good costumes yesterday. Lots of people walking around. I do enjoy going out into the crowds walking around. I do not care for those planes flying around with the banners behind them.
Very sad accident at the Del Mar race track yesterday. Two horses collided into one another, and both died. Lots of people want the horse races stopped altogether. From what I gleam, the racing horses are very pampered. But then again, I know nothing about horses.
Irmi, where are you going after Seattle? Don’t miss The Public Market. Watch out for the flying fish!

Check frequently as people cancel... And you having a smaller rig can take advantage of any cancellation!

Hi everyone! We are in Coeur D'Alene Idaho. We are having a problem with the cord that goes from our car to the motorhome and need to have that replaced pronto. The entrance to the campground here has a one lane bridge that we couldn't cross with the car attached. We got 3/4's of the way through, had to stop, unhook the car, get the motorhome out of the position it was in and start over from scratch. It would be nice if they would tell you before hand so you don't get yourself in the pickle we were in. We also have a bedroom slide giving us problems and are babying it by not using it for one night stops. But it makes the bedroom & bathroom very cozy. But this is all part of the adventure.

Peggy, I am going to skip the GTG at Hillsborough this year. I am going to be in the far south of Florida and will be busy with cousins and other things.

I am recovering from the left eye cataract surgery, and won't have to wear the plastic eye cap tonight! Yea! Every time I tape it on, I get some hair in the tape and then it pulls and I end up cutting the few hairs because it is too hard to untape them. Then in the middle of the night my eye gets dry, and I have to put drops in and start all over again with the tape in my hair!

Vision is great for medium and distance, but close up with left eye is really horrible. Worst problem I have been having is depth perception. It's like someone moved the ground. I've been taking Uber everywhere, and I have had a couple of instances where there was a yellow or white line, and I couldn't tell if there was a curb. Been holding on to stuff and stepping very carefully so I as not to trip and fall. Right eye surgery should help, as will new glasses. That eye will be done next Tuesday. And to add to my misery, I think i have a UTI. Had to go to lab yesterday to drop off a sample, and hope I hear today. If not an infection, it is bladder spasms of some sort, but just enough painful to make me irritated.

Still working on POA stuff. I am trying to get medical reports and a better handle on their medical situation. Will be getting onto the doctor's portal site later today. And still working on turning off old phones and internet that they never used. BUT, the BIG news is that we have sold one of their three residences!!! This means one less association fee, one less electric bill, one less gas bill, and one less worry about things like insurance and such.

One down and two to go!! We'd like to get the rental unit on the beach in Florida sold before hurricane season, but I doubt it will happen because 9 other units in building for sale. And, the house in the Georgia mountains is so unique and overbuilt, it may take a couple of years to sell. Anyone need a 6.000 square foot house with 5 bedrooms, 3 full and 3 half baths, plus sun room, office, and sewing room on two main floors? A party room, card-playing room, bar, workroom, and maid's quarters (another bath, bedroom and kitchen) are in walk-out basement. Also has two huge full decks on five acres in a gated community in the mountains. See what I mean?? Walnut floors throughout, furniture negotiable. Bear who comes to visit occasionally and looks in big window is free.

Worst part of Georgia home is that it is still FULL of clothing, personal belongings, and furniture. Guess who is going to have to sort through and clean it out??

Judy...the GA home sounds just the right property for one of those new lottery winners to select (The HGTV series on lottery winners hunting for their dream home.) There really are people out there with the money and the taste for it...just not any of us. Then again if we could afford it we would have the live in help to maintain it wouldn't we?

Had a lovely lunch with Miss Sharon. All is well in her world though she is still regaining more movement in her arm after her shoulder surgery this past winter.

Back to whatever you were doing. Carry on!

I dropped Lola off at the vet earlier to get subQ fluids and get checked over. Then I went to a small museum that I had read has a Route 66 exhibit. It was very interesting. Just a small place but was very informative.

Just home waiting to hear from the vet.

Judy, if the house is priced right, someone will want it. Looks like an estate sale might be in your future.

Thing about the house is that they spent $1 million to build it. Too big for two people and expensive to heat and cool. Asking $675,000 for it and been on market for 8 months. Houses in that gated mountain community are much smaller and selling for less than half of that.

That will be a hard sell. They obviously over-built for the neighborhood. Hope just the right buyer comes along soon.
