Hot Wednesday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Hot Wednesday!

Postby Queen » Wed Jul 17, 2019 8:13 am

Good morning all!

Been retired since 2015, I’m only 58 (Mary is 60) and we’ve been watching the savings dwindle at an alarming pace... fun = money, who knew?! Anyhoo, she started back to work part time this week and I’m going back next week. Best part is if it sucks we stop doing it, although she’s having fun now, it’s so different than being a boss or working at a higher level professional gig.

As a side note I’m so happy and lucky to be home in Illinois where getting good paying part time jobs took a quick phone call. Those connections are priceless. Wish me luck!

Wednesday

Good Morning. Glad that the water didn't come up higher than it did, Martha. And I will never complain about the vet expenses around here. I respect the care you provide all your critters.

I am off to my dermatologist for my annual "Lets look at spots" appointment. I generally have a few frozen off before I can escape the room. I think that I developed some Cellulitis in my legs not helped by the street conditions and the heat and the walking the mean streets of NYC this past weekend. It seems to be subsiding some but I am keeping a close eye on it. I figure to get a second more professional opinion, than mine, today. From what I have read, if it is cellulitis I may need antibiotics. I didn't lose all that weight to limit my walking skills in other ways if I can help it.

Josef is back with his Audrey and Lark, patrolling the yard for invading squirrels and squeaky balls. I am looking at some open weeks that I don't want to enter a dog show and will figure out whether I will start some projects around here or find a campground...... Such tough decisions. I might even look at some events for Lark. She needs a reason to practice her obedience.

And Barbie, just keep reminding yourself you knew it was a hot desert when you left San Diego and decided to move there. Sort od like folks in Florida and the south commenting on summer humidity. Thank the AC gods for providing you support! It does sound like it has many pluses that will out weigh the summer heat. Hang on and enjoy the seasonal ups and downs.

Folks have some adventures and report back.

I am just about to get up and get the trailer (Roxy) hitched up and bring her to the RV shop to get checked over. Then will drop her off at the storage place.

Yes, I was aware of the heat here when I moved, but we all complain about the weather no matter where we live, right? Just part of our nature! :D

Having some bathroom issues again this morning. It is probably stress-related. Too much on my mind lately. I need to learn to meditate!

Hope you all have a good day!

Tina:

Not my business (of course!) but do pay close attention to the cellulitis. It is nothing to mess around with. I developed a bad case of cellulitis (from a mosquito bite I received at Yellowstone). The cellulitis went from below my knee all the way to my ankle (my lower leg swelled to nearly twice it's size). I "let it go" a bit before visiting the doctor the first time, big mistake. The cellulitis got ahead of me.

I don't think I have ever been so ill in my entire life - multiple doctor visits (including two to the ER), six weeks flat on the couch with leg elevated & hot packs, many more weeks before I was fully recovered. At one point they wanted to admit me to the hospital so they could IV more powerful antibiotics, but I managed to avoid that.

I thought this was going to be "the one".

A word to the wise: don't mess around with this. Have it looked at.

Ending rant now.

Tina, check your PM's.

It is hot here too but not like at Barbies thank goodness!!! I just had to go out and make my two little ones come inside. What is it with dogs and laying in the hot sun!!! I set a timer for five minutes then they have to come in. Before they would go out though I had to chase away the dangerous butterfly that was on the doorstep. They aren't real brave obviously....

Barbie to meditate just start with doing breath work for around 3 minutes a few times a day, that is a form of meditating. Do things like breathe in to the count of 4 and out to the count of 4. Then take a few normal breaths and breathe into the count of 4 hold to the count of 3 and breath out to the count of 5. Repeat each one about 4 times. There are several variations but the idea is to draw your attention away from everything that your mind has been focusing on for awhile.

Ditto on the cellulitis. Use a fine point permanent marker and draw a line around the edges. If it starts to get bigger get to doctor or emergency room immediately. People can end up with systemic infections and organ failure from cellulitis and due from it. It is serious stuff that needs to be treated

Anne was lucky she did not end up in hospital on intravenous antibiotics. It can be a really nasty disease and even be MRSA.

Survived cataract surgery. Feeling weird today because vision is so different in each eye. Depth perception is lousy so have to be careful walking.

Thanks for the reminders regarding Cellulitis. I have seen too much of it on others to not take it seriously. And I know from all that I have read over time that it is not something that clears up by itself. Those bacteria are always around us and once they invade it means that our natural protection and immune systems are not able to fight it.

I had an episode in the deep tissue of my left leg in the fall that I at first thought might have been a DVT. As soon as they ruled that out they gave me a prescription for antibiotics.

The check up at the Dermatologist went over the areas and said that they appeared to just be some broken capillaries probably from the heat, greater than normal ankle swelling and all the walking. I knew that was one of the better choices and given that the redness had begun to subside after the Saturday's marathon walking I was hopeful. Darn this growing old stuff. Over all, though, I still felt pretty darn healthy when I had to complete that "updated" health check list for the doctor.

It's hot here too and my glasses fog up every time I walk outside. The water has drained off. I want to go down to the pond but better wait until it cools off. There was a floating mat of weeds in the small pond and the storm washed most of it out. I was hoping the alligators had taken a hike but Eddie said no. I hope most of my fish didn't leave.

Went to Walmart, mostly to get Hank a new bed, but they didn't have the size I wanted. I still managed to spend $100. I picked up Gypsy. She was happy to be home and walking normal again. I was so afraid she had a broken leg.

As usual I feel like there is something I should be doing. Nothing on the calendar until next Wednesday. I have a checkup at my eye doctor. Will try to mow later.

Thank you BJ. I have tried different methods of meditation and using a mantra usually works best since I have monkey mind and a short attention span  . It is just a matter of remembering to do it.

Just went to pick up Roxy. They resealed the roof and fixed a few little things on the outside. Brought her to the storage lot and got her all tucked in there. It isn't as hot today as it has been but I think the humidity is higher because I was soaking wet by the time I got home. Usually I don't sweat too much (or it evaporates right away).

I sent an email to my other sister in law, Julie, David's wife, and told her I had heard about David's accident. I also told her I was hoping they were not still upset about me not going to the wedding and that I would like to go to Phoenix once they get moved and settled to visit them. I asked her to contact me and let me know if we are all good. I got a text message from her today. She didn't bring that up, but it sounds like David isn't doing very well. He is still in the hospital and is having heart problems now. I sure hope he pulls thru this set-back. Ever since the big accident 2 years ago, I guess he has been steadily going down hill. Situations like this, with surgery, etc. don't help any.

I am relaxing and cooling off right now and then will take a shower and get ready for our Wednesday dinner get-together with the neighbors. Back to work tomorrow.

Idaho is always windy... or it seems that way when I went to college it was to a 2 year Jr college in Rexburg Idaho the wind oh my it blew and I had has did most women at that time a bouffant hair style I remember wearing a light weight scarf tied under the chin then we would pull the top part over our faces and sorta tuck it wherever usually the mouth to keep our hair from blowing yep it blows in Idaho more than I would like but here I am spending most of the year in Idaho!!!
did make it home today left about 1ish and went the fruit way stopped at 3 fruit stands... but they didn't have all that I wanted that said I managed to spend lots black berries, nectarines, fingerling potatoes, fresh green peas, jam, apricots and cherry's think that is it... maybe didn't find strawberries though
rode up in the coolness of my fixed A/C was so nice!!! actually on the lowest fan and was very comfortable
stopped in Rexburg at Walmart got my milk bread looked at the books I get and they were there that was the third walmart and 4th stop think late due to 4th but not sure but all is well got 5 or the 6
