good morning ladies
guess I'm the first one up, coffee is brewing and I've got a little pineapple upsidedown
cake. Of course theres always biscotti. I have no set plans today, although the neighbors
are getting ready to paint their park model so I will need to move things over on the patio where we share the property line. Thats about all I plan on doing.
I smell the coffee calling me so have a great day whatever you do, and be safe.

Morning everyone. It seems like it is going to be a beautiful day here in Louisiana. We're up early and don't have too far to go today so I'm cruising around here. Had an interesting time yesterday with this RV park.
Then finding a park with space became a challenge. Crossed into LA and stopped at a rest stop to call a few. Full....Finally found one just a couple of miles up the road from where we were. No one answered phone but gave a couple of other numbers to call. Okay called one, answering machine. Geezzee...Called other woman finally answered and said “Just come on in.” Okay – we did and there was no one in the office. Had to call on the phone again for some one. “Hello.”
Me, “Is this the RV park?”
Her, “Yes.”
Me, “We’d like to check in.”
Her, “Just pull into space 79 it’s just around the corner and put $30 in the drop box. Bye”
Me, “ Ahhhh….bye.”
So I got out and went looking for space 79. Just around the corner were spaces 83 and 85. Hummm Some guy came up to me and asked if the park had cable TV. Gee I don’t know I’m looking for space 79. Shrug. Kept walking AH HA – space 79. Walked back to the rig and pointed the way for Bill.
Got settled on nice concrete pad, good internet and managed to pick up the last 7 laps of the race on local TV. Okay. Then I called a park where we'd like to stay tonight and the guy told me. "Don't know anything about spaces." Me, "Who would?" Him, "Call back tomorrow after 11." Me "Okay."
So here we sit kind of waiting to get on the road. Sure laid back in this here country. Still haven't seen anyone resembling a manager/owner here.
Get to put a new state on our map today!

(I had this posted on another headline, and will delete that one as Ava's seems to be the one where people are going!)

GOOD MORNING ALL!!

I have coffee here, now, too, for those of us who also overslept, LIKE me, and need COFFEE NOW!!!!

Here's what's going on at my place today:

Image

Party Barn and back yard....no campfires out here for another while!!

Image

Front deck and table with Duckhouse Pub in background.

I bought me a WONDERFUL new toy yesterday, for my FL trip! I got an MP3 player/recorder! It's about the size of a thumbdrive doubled, and can hold 2 gigs of music!!! I got it so I don't have to carry a ton of my CDs that I love to hear while traveling, and got the wire so it can play through my input jack on my truck's radio and uses the trucks sound system and speakers! Using Windows Media Player, I can choose just my most favorite bands of music from the CDs, put them into a folder, (it's really fast to rip the music!) and then hit SYNCHRONIZE (also very fast) to transfer them all to this neat little gadget via a USB cable!! I will add a few more today, although I already have most of my faves already done! I tried the first one in the truck to be sure I knew how to do that, and it's TOTALLY AWESOME!!!

Image

Here's a picture of it.

Just to think, I've come from a windup Victrola to a 78 automatic turntable and heavy 78 records, 45 records, 33 records 8-track tapes, cassette tapes, CDs and now this teensy weensy little gadget that holds TONS of music!! Sigh----it sometimes pays to age a bit!!

Happy Sunday to you all out there in RV Land!

I know it is practically unheard of but, I'm not that into music. But...wondered if this MP3 player could be used to download a book from online to it and then play the book on your truck radio?

One of my exceptions though, I do love Willie Nelson! He is going to be in Paducah, Ky at the Carson Center on May 25th. Paducah isn't that far of a drive so I'm seriously considering getting a ticket, just wish there was another Willie fan to go along with me.

Good Morning, Ladies!

I was up earlier and coffee wasn't on yet...any more of those peach biscuits?

That's a nice lookin' MP3 player you have there! I used to hate to buy an entire album (or now, cd) for just one or two songs that I liked. Did you know that you can now just download individual songs for around a buck? My favorite site for that is Walmart @ $0.97. I think it's music.walmart.com. You can find lots of oldies that you'd never find CDs for these days.

What I like even more is the setting of your home! It's just beautiful, snow and all! You must see a few deer every now and then? I don't know where you live, but surely the snow'll be stopping sometime soon? We had some snow here, too, in NW TN this winter. I was really ticked off because I couldn't find the snow shovel...

Image

And Redetotry, we live just 1 hour South of Paducah if you need someplace to park when you go see Willie! Full hook-up - water, 30A, septic...heck, I'd go with you to the concert, but I'm not crazy about the old, pig-tailed guy!

Good Morning...slurp..the hot tea is helping defrost the fingers and it really isn't that cold here now, its just my darn circulatory system that shuts down......I love the snow (and your pictures capture the peace) and could live in the beauty of it, if it weren't for the freezing cold that often comes along with it. I will be one of those people that tries to live in the warm spot and takes a vacation to NH in the winter just to see snowy woods again :)

I'm with you Tina. Spent most of my life trying to take vacations to get away from the cold. Now, if I really have a need to see snow or be in the cold - it will be a vacation there :)

Lots to do today, but so far getting little done. Ate a piece of fudge for breakfast. Not on my diet, but was given a plate of goodies this week made by some of the winter Texans to thank us housekeepers - Sparkle kindly ate one of them, but I've been working on the rest by myself. Peaches did get about 1 1/2 miles of walk in while I talked to lots of my neighbors. Now I'm surfing, and reading a book. Soon I'll be working on my websites. 6 more work days left - with lots of parties, etc before I leave - I know it'll be down to the day before I leave and I'll be scrambling to get all the little stuff done - ah well. I'm having fun planning the NM trip, and I think Sparkle is too. She's not used to planning, just doing - but to caravan together, we need a bit more planning. Knowing us, we'll throw it all away after we get on the road - but at least we will have tried.

Oh, I had ordered walkie talkies, and they came in - they work great here with lots of rigs between us - so I'm sure they'll be so nice to have on the road. I'm just expecting now - that Scottish accent coming on mine telling me where to go. Ha.

Another second on visiting the snow rather than living in it. It is beautiful and I appreciate the photos but very glad it is not located here.
Coffee almost gone and temp here has reached about 60; warm enough for me to venture out  . May try to clean off at least one of the porches today. Am for sure headed downtown later to the park; must see if the cherry blossoms there match the blooms on my mystery tree (another post). Know the color is different so will have to look closely at bloom part.
Several other little chores to tackle but nothing exciting on tap for the day.
Hope all of you have a great day.

Good morning to you all !
Bright and sunny here in Flagstaff AZ - really windy though. It's suppose to get super cold tonight, in the 20's, so I'm not looking forward to that, but I'll live.
My visit with my family in Cottonwood went really great ! We had lots of fun :D I'm heading back down the canyon today around 10.
Molly had a little fight with their female dog, but once they did that - they got along OK. Guess their dog just needed to set some ground rules and let Molly know that she was a visitor and Sister (my Aunts dog) was the queen of the castle !!
Love the MP3 Soos - I can't believe how small they're getting !! I'm not that into music either. I have XM radio in my truck and mostly listen to the comedy channel or the 70's channel - at least I can sing along to the songs from the 70's !!
Redetotry - if you can go to Willie in concert you should go !! He's awesome - you'll love seeing him in person :D
have a great day everyone !!

Goooood Morning Sistahs!!!!

Thank you! Thank you!!! Your posts made me laugh this morning. And I really, really needed that this morning. I'm still pooped from yesterday and have as much to do today again. I went back thru all the boxes I packed last weekend. I sorted again and set aside give away stuff, threw away 2 more big garbage bags full of stuff and I started packing up clothes. Have one box of clothes to keep so far and a large garbage bag of clothes to give to Haven of Mercy. Today I have blankets to pack and we have to attack the cellar. OMG!!! Camping stuff has to be grouped up and sorted. Plus any other stuff down there that I am not keeping. HELP!!! I think I still have to much stuff. And then of course there's Kelly's stuff too. Oh he77!!!!

David is off to work until about 3pm. He said that when he gets home he want us to be able to throw some boxes into the blazer and go with him to where he will be living. Of course that is where we will be staying for maybe 2 weeks too. If it wouldn't cost so much I would just stay here for those two weeks. Would save us the added work of moving stuff from here to there and the added cost of gas for the move and the gas for the commute back and forth to work. Where we will be living, instead of only 15 minutes to get to work, it will take us about 45 minutes to get there.

Soos? I was born and raise in NY so I do know Spring and Summer exist up there. But sometimes ya just gotta wonder "where the he77 is Spring"!!! Well at least your deck was clean of snow for a little bit. And you can still get in and out minus the 3' deep muck. As and added bonus you will be in FL while winter plays out the death act. That's cause for rejoicing!!! ;)

Hey Mitch? Believe me it does snow down here. So you might better plan on digging that shovel out for next year and keeping track of it. When they get a good storm here and ya need that shovel? It's funny as all get out. They really don't know much about how to deal with a good snow storm and that's also when ya can tell the natives from the transplants! The transplants are almost the only ones out on the roads. The bread, milk, eggs, toilet paper are gone from the shelves. Candles will get really hard to find and those little propane tanks for camp stoves and lanterns become nonexistent!!!

Oh goodness Beth. I can just imagine Sparkle on those walkie talkies!!! Better make sure to empty your bladder as much as ya can before pulling out. Or your gonna be sorry. I can just hear some of her comments of the traffic, other drivers and scenery. Gods help ya if she sees any animals in the field doing their thing. You will be a goner.

Tina, if your looking for that warm spot to live with out any chance of icy cold weather??? It's not to be found in SW Ohio!!! ;)

Ok time to get to work here. Oh Joy!!

Hope ya'll have a great day, stay safe, stay warm/cool whichever and keep laughing!

Love to all

Redetotry-----you CAN download books to it....directions said so. And pictures, too.

I will be taking our school library Playaways digital books with me when I go to FL, and those will plug into my truck audio system, too. I HATE headphones/earplugs, and all those things that block my hearing. So this setup is great!

Mitch, someone else suggested I try the Walmart site for specific songs to download, too, so I will take a trip there. There are a few songs I don't have on CDs---just old, scratchy tapes----so getting new downloads will be great.

Snow has stopped, but the wind is drifting it all over the place, and I am freezing. I need to get a woodfire started right now!

Eight years ago, March 22, 2001, we were having a real blizzard! I added a few pics on the general thread. I had forgotten about that couple of snow days it caused us to take!

Later.........

No snow here, just rain showers. We have had the snowyest winter ever and we are all tired of it!

Redetotry: wish I was there. I would definitely go see Willy with you.

Beautiful snow pictures, Soos. I expect we'll be "visiting" some snow this summer, at least in the Rockies, if not in AK.

Thanks, Ava, for opening the kitchen and the pineapple upside down cake is yummy! Busy morning for me so couldn't get on here 'til now. Had to prepare for covered dish dinner after church, then stayed for a board meeting. Sadly our church board voted to discontinue our cash contributions and food collections for a nearby Interfaith office. The reason is that one of our members who delivers our contributions to them every month was treated so rudely that she was practically turned away. This was by a regional employee that was not usually at this office. We are going to write a letter to the regional office manager and explain our decision. They need to better train their employees. You'd think that in these times they'd be bending over backward to show appreciation, especially to regular contributers. Instead we'll distribute our resources directly to needy families in our community.

good evening everyone!

Hey Mitch,.... never mind the snow shovel,...sending my son over right now with his truck and plow on it,... he'll have that snow cleared out in no time flat!

I'm late,... I know,... but I brought some apple strudel bread that I bought at Sam's Club today,.... seriously yummy!
