Windy Wednesday

Good morning to all. We here in Vegas continue to enjoy unusually cool weather for the time of year and area. We are hovering right around 101 plus or minus a few degrees. This time of year it is usually 107 or more. But we are getting a lot of wind. Mornings are nice but by about noon the wind picks up sustained around 210/25 - gusts up to 35. Here they call it blow dryer weather. Humidity is about 15%.
We had an interesting experience with the police Monday, you can read about it in my blog. Rather scary. We also got caught up on a couple of shots. I had a reaction to the
tetnus TDAP shot. Yesterday my arm from shoulder to elbow was very swollen, red, hot, and hurt. It even hurt to walk. Started swelling a couple of hours after the shot and today it is somewhat swollen still red and hot but not nearly as sore. At least it will be 10 years before I need another one, At 91 I think I'll skip it.
We are hoping to get out of here for a month or so but haven't decided where to go to find cooler weather.
Stay safe from weather and in your travels.

Many years ago, I had a reaction to a tetanus/TDAP shot myself, similar to what you describe, although not as severe. I had pain in my upper arm and shoulder for months. When I asked my doctor about it, he told me it couldn't happen and that it must be something else. All I know is that it started with the vaccination, by the next day my shoulder was sore and inflamed. Over the years I have begun to lose a lot of my faith in doctors.

The next time I was due for the vaccination, I told my doctor about the previous reaction. I needed the booster, because I had been (possibly) exposed. So I had the vac, and (this time) had little to no reaction at all. Just a little soreness, gone in a day or two.

Go figure.

Good morning Carol, Anne & everyone!

Carol, I hope your arm feels better soon. We drove by the high school in Casper yesterday and I was wondering if that was the same school you went to.

We rode around with the friends we're traveling with yesterday and drove over the Casper Mountain and then the Muddy Mountain. At one point, the elevation was 7070 feet. We were on dirt roads for miles and miles. There were lots of cows wandering around free. The scenery here is just beautiful. We'll stay in this area and leave Monday to continue on to our next destination.

Good morning,,,:-)
I'm still hanging out in Iowa, interesting to watch the comings and goings here. Not everybody here is on vacation, some are construction workers with family in tow working on nearby road repairs or big construction projects going in.They are the most quiet. Have a trip planned to Wal-Mart tomorrow with a friend, it's about 50 miles away, will pretty much take up a good portion of the day. There is one closer but its not accessible due to road closure from last months flood.
Temps were really nice this morning, 78 with no humidity and a nice breezy. A nice cloud cover but the cloud cover has moved on and its warming up. Much better than back home. Will pull out Monday morning heading to my sisters in Wisconsin. Wishing I could run up to visit Carolb but that's a other q day drive from Appleton, time and $$$ are just not there. Makes me sad to be so close but still far.
Guess I've rambled on enough with nothing really interesting to say. But I do enjoy just chilling out with no priorities except taking the dogs out to pee and poop. Lol
Have a great day, :-)

Carol, coming here wouldn't help you much as far as the temps go. We are around 110* here. But the coastal areas are in the mid 70's right now.

I hate having tetanus shots! They are so painful! Had one a few years ago so am good for awhile now.

Ava, glad you are able to relax for awhile. You must be feeling better now. How long will you be in Wisconsin?

Will try to get out to the shed this morning and get that cleaned out. Getting hot already. Just can't seem to get up before 8am.

We have our dinner get-together at Olive Garden this afternoon. Should be fun!

Have a good day! :D

If it was a beautiful brick building called Natrona County High School that was it. At the time it was the only high school in town. It was a public school but every one had to wear uniforms. There were the oil people and ranchers with money and the rest of us so uniforms to keep us all alike. Black or navy pencil skirts with white short sleeve peter pan collars for the girls. Had to wear a belt. One day I didn't have my belt on and got sent to dean's office. Boys had to wear navy or black slacks and white shirts OR be in ROTC with that uniform.

Arm is much better most of swelling and pain gone.

I am finally recovered from my rough week--two night's really good sleep in my own bed does wonders. I also have tried melatonin for the first time and find it really helps get me to sleep and keep me asleep. I woke up only two times last night instead of the usual 3-5 times. That also helps.

So, today is a take-it-easy day. Been working on getting telephone service cut off from aunt and uncle's residences. Not easy, as no one will give me info until I fax POA documents, except I don't have a fax machine, so I found an online fax service. You can ADD service without POA, just not cut service!!!

Glad to not have to drive today. Will head to Emigrant Lake tomorrow, but very short drive.

I went to Walmart this morning to get some of the powdered milk for kittens. The last cat that showed up had 5 kittens about a month ago. The poor skinny things are starting to follow their mother around. I fixed them a bowl of milk and most of them dove in. They will be following me around now.

It has been raining off and on. It looks like there are scattered showers over most of the state. At least it's a little cooler with the rain. I'm just glad I got the yard mowed.

The old computer I would take camping won't come on anymore. It has to be about 15 years old so guess it's not worth getting fixed. It had one of the Windows operating systems and when they quit supporting it my son put another operating system on it. Can anyone recommend a computer that's not too expensive? I don't want to bring my Apple camping.

Judy, the phone services can sure be hard to deal with. I'm just glad I had put most of the bills in my name before Harold died. I am almost afraid to try to change the electric service to my name. When I went in to the Verizon office to upgrade my tablet I had my drivers license and a copy their bill but they still wanted my pin number. They wouldn't take a check, I had to use a credit card. I guess if you don't have a credit card you can't do business with Verizon.

Carol I grew up in Wy as well.... just across the state
don't you have to avoid high altitudes? that would make finding cool much harder but what about up the Pacific Coast?
went to my mom's today told her that after her meals on wheels came we were going to go to China Kitchen I think is the name or perhaps it Town oh well so the movie gets over the food had arrived and we go out to the car and nothing no spark no grrrr no nothing... dead as a door nail ... so we go back in Mom had consumed her cupcake from the meal's on wheels before we left long past her lunch time and I doubt she had eaten bk... asked if she wanted me to warm her up something said no she wasn't hungry  of course she wouldn't have eaten the whole meal anyway which is fine she would have had leftover's for later... my dd had also taken out a package of freezer meal so I planned on cooking that up for her to have they were packaged big enough for mom and dd to have a meal with a leftover for mom but with dd not being there there is more than mom will want to eat... this was a chicken fajitas meat tasted good did try it. so warmed it up for mom before we left then got in the rush hour traffic yes Jackson has rush hour traffic going up the pass into Idaho... it was really bad today we should have stayed to eat with mom but then she wouldn't have had another meal out of it... I am tired tonight but that comes from not going to bed at a descent time then getting up way to early...

Martha, do you think the kittens are thin because they have worms? You can get a dewormer to put in their milk/food, but not sure if they are too young for that yet.

The casino across the way, had their fireworks tonight so I took my golf cart out to the road. There is a large open field across the road with the casino on the other side of it. Little did I know that hundreds of cars would be lined up to pull into that field to watch the fireworks! I decided it would not be safe to cross the street with my cart so I just drove along the sidewalk until I found a good spot to park it in front of my resort. The fireworks were surprisingly not very exciting or long. I saw some way off in the distance that looked much better so will have to find out for next year where those were. Now, sitting here on the couch, someone is lighting pretty good fireworks at the community next door to us and I can see them right out my window. I don't plan to go anywhere tomorrow to watch fireworks. Gets too crazy out with traffic. Altho, I was thinking it could be cool to drive up the mountain to the look-out pull-off where you can see all across the valley, and watch all of them from there. But getting back home would be a nightmare!

Dinner was good. About 20 of us. Was a fun evening and met some new people. The gal, Candy, who organizes the get-togethers is very nice and we are becoming good friends already. We seem to have a lot in common. I asked her if I could use her as my emergency contact at work since I don't have anyone locally for that. She said sure and asked if I would be hers too. She has no real family around either.

I got the shed cleaned out and put a few of my things in there. I took a big car load to the dumpsters and have another car load of stuff for the thrift store tomorrow (if they are open). Then back to the storage unit and bring a couple car loads back home. I have room now to put bins in the shed and in the sunroom. Then I can consolidate what is left in storage into the smaller unit and get rid of the larger one.

Off to bed soon. Maybe I will be motivated to finally get up early before it gets hot out. Tonight was pretty nice out after the sun went down. It was really windy but felt good (as long as you aren't down wind with the dust blowing! ).

So Sheila, what happened with the car? How did you get it started? What was wrong with it?

my nephew stopped by to pick up his daughter since it was parked in the garage.... we needed some way of jumping it without pushing out of the garage... so he went to his work and something to jump it with... mom drove it about for a few then tried to start it later it started and did so yesterday... I suggested to her that she take it someplace that will check the battery and see if it's dying or if it was from lack of use. she doesn't drive it a lot but think I will encourage her more when I go over that we need to go somewhere for a bit ... my nephew said he would replace the battery this weekend but I am hoping that won't be necessary.
thanks for asking
