Sunshine Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunshine Friday

Postby Colliemom » Fri Jun 14, 2019 6:19 am

Morning all. Nice clear sunny morning, finally. Been raining almost non stop since Wednesday morning. Everybody’s tired of rain and more rain. More heading in later this afternoon, so I’m heading out to my trailer to try and finish up the loose ends out there. The farmers have all but given up on planting corn crops for this year. Ground is too wet and not enough time for it to mature before the fall frosts arrive.

Been enjoying reading what everybody’s doing, the weather reports from different areas. I sure am glad I’m not where it’s in the 100’s. Alice, you on the road now? Beth, how’s the season going out there? Things starting to pick now? Lyn, sounds like you are getting back to your routine.

As for me, time to get a move on. Things to accomplish this morning. Have a great day all :)

Mornin' Sue & all that follow~~~

Just been reading for the last week or so. Sandi loved your whale pics. Sure wish the cruise I did in Monterray last year was was good. Lyn is back home. Didyou see some 'new to you' birds? And Barbie is in her ne home. Congrats! Can't remember what else I've read, guess the brain is filled with dealing with hail damage.

The truck is ending week one in the shop. About 2 more to go. :-( The poor TT is on it's way out. Although the damage looks more cosmetic (to me), because of ripping off the front cap & roof, plus the damage estimates being 1/2 the value of it,I've decided to get another one instead. I wouldn't be comfortable in it anymore and would constantly be worrying about leaks. Since I haven't been to an RV show in about 4 years, I've been looking at models on line and going to dealers to look at them if the drive is within 1 1/2 hours. Have I said hope much I miss the truck? Not liking the rental without cruise lol.

Anyway, put a deposit on a trailer yesterday but obviously can't get it there until I have the truck back. Bummed about that but for my next trick I'm trying to figure out which way to head in the middle of midwest summer camping reservations.

That's it from Camp Dad's Driveway. Hope everyone is well. Stay safe ladies and have a good day.

Morning all!

Got our new recliners delivered yesterday, they are heavenly!! I had to sleep in my old chair for several months when I was dealing with surgeries and injuries, it was worn out and broken down.

We’re not as soggy here in the cornfields as Sue is further north, the farmers have finally gotten most of the crops in here. But it’s too wet at our nearby state park to tent camp, those sites are like bogs and as a result the mosquitoes are legion.

The dogs and I are hanging out in Kalamazoo this weekend. Louise is meeting me for dinner on Saturday night at a Cracker Barrel near Battle Creek. I do like their grilled fish and I usually get out without over eating stuff I shouldn’t. I can hardly wait to find out more about Louise and her dancing dog Drew! Josef got to be a support player yesterday but each day is another opportunity and a new judge. We are liking the moderate temperatures and especially this morning’s sunshine.

Overcast and rain expected here in WI and rain for the weekend. Supposed to have 2 days of sunshine first of the week!! It has not been the best of spring/summers here, but better than the heat and flooding in the other parts of the U.S. Have been busy planning my trip for later this summer. Taking the trailer over to the cities (Mpls-St. Paul area) next week for my daughter, who is camping with friends for a few days. I have done this for the past 3 years, I take it to the site, let her set it up and then leave, then meet her back at the site on Sunday. THey get all the sites around a big grassy area for the kids and pets. They all have a fun time. I will visit family and friends during that time.
Good luck to all of you who are making changes in your lives or vehicles!
Safe travels

Over eating at Cracker Barrel isn't usually my problem, it's buying junk. I wanted another shirt for the 4th of July but they are still selling knit shirts with 3/4 length sleeves. Sleeves like that drive me crazy so got out of Cracker Barrel without buying one. They did have some cute Pink Flamingo things but resisted them too.

Hank got his bath yesterday and I was about as wet as he was. He is getting so skinny. He gets all the food he will eat so maybe there is something with more calories. I'll have to ask the vet when we go.

Cheryl, are you getting another Grand Design trailer? I am on several RV Facebook sites and people complain so much about the problems they are having with some brands but I don't remember anyone complaining about Grand Design.

There are several places I would like to go to while I'm in town but it's too hot to leave Hank in the car. Guess I will have to go again later or tomorrow.

Good morning. It is a beautiful cool morning here, just perfect. But alas the heat will be coming later this afternoon. I am excited to meet Toni (RV sistah) today and we will have tomorrow to kick around together before she heads to the coast.

Cheryl, I dont blame you for dumping your trailer after the kind of damage you have. I always worry about leaks even if not damaged. I do have a fiberglass roof so really just need the seals around everything checked. But I am always opening cupboards looking in the corners and checking for leaks everywhere LOL Looking forward to pics of course and the info on the new trailer.

Glad Judy is at the coast where it is much cooler and her slide was just being tempermental LOL Hope no further troubles. Well I am now off get busy, time is wasting LOL

Fog and cool air feels good today. Even enjoying having to turn furnace on this morning after heat of last two days!! And we are looking for a memory care place with bigger rooms so we can move them and not have to pay for extra care and to keep them from wandering.

I agree with decision to get new trailer. Never know what damage might be hidden on old one. Exciting to hear everyone making travel plans.

And both slides went in this morning. Maybe it was the heat??? Anyway, since a couple of years ago, at least I know where the fuses are located.

I woke up early this morning even after getting to sleep late last night. But I also took a 3 hour nap yesterday.

Lola really hates her medicine. The stuff she got from the other vet, she tolerated a lot more.

It has been super windy here since yesterday with wind gusts to over 40 mph! Sounds like a hurricane outside! The palm trees are really swaying!

I may end up feeling my first earthquake. There has been a large cluster of small earthquakes just north and west of here (near LA/Riverside area) over the past couple weeks. I haven't felt any yet but there was one yesterday that was a 3.2. If they get bigger, I will probably notice them here. Luckily, they are not on the San Andreas fault line. I read that the small clusters are a good thing since they supposedly release the pressure on the fault line a little at a time rather than one big release and jolt.

Found out that not only is my dad's house coming down at the end of the summer, but they are also removing all the 100+ year old oak trees in his yard! That is just heartbreaking! The whole neighborhood is full of those beautiful trees! My dad would be very upset! He actually moved the plans for his house a few feet over in order to save one of the oak trees from being cut down before his house was built. Several years ago when the city was planning to widen the streets in the neighborhood, they planned to cut down over 50 of the oak trees along the streets for it. The neighbors got together and complained, and got the city to only remove about 15 instead.

That is too bad about the farmers not being able to plant corn this year. That will surely drive the prices way up.

I need to figure out who to call about the jury duty I got the letter for yesterday. It is in San Diego and I no longer live there. Will have to check the letter and see if there is a phone number on it somewhere.

Will be staying home today to get stuff put away before bringing in more stuff. Want to pay off some bills today. Need to call the guy who offered to help me move my furniture in.

Hope you all have a good day! :D

I'm busy dealing with doctor appointments today, but I'm really looking forward to dinner with Tina tomorrow. Cracker Barrel is dangerous for me, too . . . especially their collection of old-fashioned candy sticks. I suspect my self-control will go out the window and I'll leave with a fist full of them!

Yea, I don't need that worry. Plus, with the bent axle accident in March, the hail damage just pushed me over the edge.

Got quite a bit done today. Worked on the bedroom, bath and kitchen putting stuff away. Still have to put shelf liner on most of the kitchen cupboards and put more stuff away. I ordered some window scarves from WM on line for the living room but didn't like the color when I got them yesterday so they went back to WM today. Ordered some more in a little different color.

Had a woman come by this morning to welcome me. She works with my real estate agent. She is very nice and we had a great conversation.

It is still really windy here but with the temps just hitting 100 today, it feels pretty good outside. Lots of dust blowing around tho, but at least the temps are tolerable.

Will try to get up early tomorrow and go get a load or two of stuff from the storage units.

Have a good night!

spent the day with my mom... my youngest daughter thinks we should do more than watch tv probably right but when I am there it's her car (my dd typically drops me off) so in my mind if she wanted to go somewhere she would suggest it... but perhaps I ought to...she gets meals on wheels Mon Weds and Fri so today she called and ordered one for me they had a throw back on price for the meal so it was a whole dollar... had taco salad heavy on chips and light on salad but it was ok enjoyed the jicomon I forget how much I like it... they had watermelon and pudding as well... the date on the milk was good but it sure was spoiled...mom's was ok but mine was spit it back into the container... when I dumped it out it wasn't even the color of milk that yucky spoiled look.. yuk !!!
did get her planters planted after I located them and called for help to get them down from the top of her storage shed... hopefully they will do well
going to Idaho Falls tomorrow to have my hair cut it is way too long... also want to go to Hobby Lobby and a couple of other stores... should when I get home plant the rest of the plants that I got...
Shadow is reminding me it's time to take him out but I think it can wait a few... he was out at 7ish when I got home so it's not like I am tormenting him
have a good night
