Perfect Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Perfect Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Jun 08, 2019 5:42 am

Good Morning everyone. Thought I had better stop in and say hi. Been lurking, but not posting. I’ve been doing so much research looking for and ordering things for cosmetic upgrades in my trailer, that I haven’t been in mood for writing. But have been enjoying all the news on here.

The weather here has been about as perfect as it gets. Sunny, gentle breezes, temps from low 70’s to low 80’s, no humidity and cool nights for sleeping. Couldn’t ask for better, but it’s typical for June in northern Michigan. Everybody’s been enjoying it. The trees are leafed out, spring wildflowers and lilacs are blooming. Only downside is the mosquitos have hatched too, but the first hatch is beginning to die back now. The usual spring bug season. Lyn, you were here just a bit too early. But you had dates to work around. You asked how my mattress topper is working out. Fine. Just enough foam to cushion the top of my hard mattress so I don’t notice the coil springs. I sleep comfortably on it. It’s a keeper. Ann, that sunflower Bill made is beautiful. Barbie, sounds like you have a lot of things to go through, but at least you are finally in your new house and have lots of time to sort stuff. Loved your sunset picture.

I’m in between camping trips right now, so am doing things around the house and yard plus some grounds and flowerbox maintenance for our HOA. I’m one of the volunteers who helps maintain our main entrance and a neighborhood pathway for our small sub here. Now that I am retired, figured it was time to help out after others have done it over the years. Today though I am thinking of going to Camping World. Want a play day persay. Time out from work projects. Getting too warm in the sun for me right now. I don’t handle warmer weather as I get older. Beth, hope your weather shapes up.

Okay, time to quit jabbering and move along. Y’all have a great day out there.

Beautiful day in WI also. Just got back from first camping trip yesterday, weather was great. Unfortunately, there were a lot of gnats out, think because of all the rain and flooding along the Mississippi. However, the wild flowers are blooming and there were birds everywhere. Had a nice time despite the bugs.
Have a nice day everyone

Morning all!

We’re having a hard time planning our tent camping trip to the nearby state park, every day they call for loads of rain and every day it goes south of us.

Happiness, I broke my weight loss stall!! Since April 4th I’m down 34 pounds and 13 inches (only 66 lbs to go), yay me! I’m feeling so much better, a van for wandering feels much more doable as I go through this process.

Good morning!
Love all the posts. Lots of activity & weather reports.

'Hair dryer' days is a great way to describe extreme hot/windy days... :o
Love the 60s-70s here. Going up to low to mid 80s the next few days then returning to the 70's. Can't beat it - until the heat of summer comes later on.

Getting back into my work routine after my road trip last week. Plants on my patio are flourishing with the low temps & recent rains. Folks in the condo above me moved so I took advantage of this opportunity to spray wash the underside of their deck that is over my patio. Got totally soaked & dirty doing it but so glad I got that done. Might tackle the area above my living room window if I get motivated later today.

Lyn, thanks for mentioning the guy you saw walking along the road - yep... that would have reminded me of Bob too. Its nice being connected to Unbound which carries on the ideals & mission of the founders & keeps their memories & values alive.

Barbie, glad to see you're in your new place. I'm sure you'll make it your 'home' shortly.
Cheryl, hope the timeline for repairs is quicker than expected & you're able to get back on the road.
JudyB, you have your hands full! I liked your idea of hiring a 'spy' to watch over your mom. What a creative idea! I, too, have downsized but continue to sort thru the few things I held onto so the kids won't have to later. That was Mom's gift to us. I think of things she had that we didn't know what to do with as I go thru my own stuff.
Sheila, glad you got the SD card figured out. Don't you hate it when technology gets the best of us. :?
Queen, way to go on the weight loss.. I need to get serious about doing the same. ;)

Well, time to get on with the day.
Stay safe everyone.

My "spy" was also listed as a second contact with the one nursing home my mother was in in Michigan. When I was at a business trip in British Columbia, my mother became unresponsive. They called Linda, and she hopped in her car and followed the ambulance to the emergency room. Waited there with my mother, calling me a couple of times, for 6 hours!! I paid her an extra $200, but it was more than worth it.

My computer keyboard has been grimy and fill of crumbs from eating while I work, so I bought one of these cans of compressed air yesterday. Last night I cleaned my keyboard and then thought of the little ceramic heater I used all winter and almost every night since. I took it outside and put it on the picnic table (smart move because it would have been a mess inside) and sprayed away! You would not believe the clouds of dust that came out, plus some clumps of fuzz!!! I sprayed it from both air directions. I am going to do this much more often because I am sensitive to dust. Been worrying about my dusty walls when it is my heater that has no doubt been a problem.

Since weather is nice here, also, I am going to get my bike out and clean it up, fill tires, and see if it is usable after a winter on the bike rack outside. Doctor at last appointment said my platelets are safe enough to ride it, even if I happened to fall, which has been a concern. Tomorrow, I am headed to container store early in the morning so I can park this behemoth, and buy some more bins that are sealable against damp and mold. Am completely reorganizing everything in this RV, though it may take a few more weeks and months. So far have tossed stuff, donated stuff, and put other stuff in a bag to see if my daughter-on-law or grandkids want it. Am focusing on reducing weight and moving stuff from back to front to balance weight.

Good afternoon gals!

Have been out and about already. When I got home, my house was warm and AC was not on. I played with the thermostat for a bit but nothing. Called the security here and They gave me a number to call. Shortly after that the AC came back on. Still having the guy come out to check it over.

Got most of the kitchen cleaned out and have my car loaded up and ready for a trip to the donation place.

Some of the food I brought with me I am concerned if it is still OK after being in the heat for awhile. I will post a list and get your opinions.

Lola still has diarrhea but had one good solid poo in between. I checked with a vet clinic close to here but they couldn't get her in for 2 weeks. Will try a few others on Monday.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
