Cooler Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cooler Friday

Postby asirimarco » Fri Jun 07, 2019 9:54 am

Good Morning All. We have delicious Mocha Mexican coffee - just finished making if you'd like. But not much else.
Here in Las Vegas we are having a Hair Dryer day - winds of 35mph and temps around 95. Cooler is relative when you live here - the last couple of days have been 102 with some 105's in the near future
Our new home AC unit will be installed [the old one is working - just getting grumpy ] the end of the month then we hope to get out of here for someplace a little cooler for a month or so.
We are both keeping busy, me with stained glass and quilting Bill with wood working. He finished the sunflower he was making for me. Love it.

I have it hanging right above my desk.
Hope everyone has a great day.

The sunflower is beautiful! It is so interesting that so many on here are artists, of many different mediums.

Don't know if I have mentioned it here, but I make jewelry out of chunks of rock and bits of wire. It is a hobby that I really enjoy, and have been doing for the last several years.

If anyone here likes "rock art" jewelry, here is my website:

http://www.delafournaise.com

I picked the name, "De La Fournaise", because I think it sounds cool, and it means "of the furnace". Many of my pieces are made from obsidian (volcanic glass), so the stones I use literally come from the furnace of the earth.

Also, natch, there is a volcano connection (LOL - isn't there always with me?)  . Piton De La Fournaise is a famous shield volcano located off the east coast of southern Africa, and is one of the most active volcanoes on the planet.

Summer is here!

Wow! Lots of news on MC the past few days. Love it! I am now in RATON, NM. Ration pass beautiful! Must keep eyes on the road tho, and just sneak peaks of the beauty! Lots of ups and downs and arounds!
The drive down through Wyoming very pretty with the green hills and snow in the mountains across the way. PA park in Cheyenne very nice with domestic cats all over, very friendly, some young turkeys and two peacocks displayed!
Colorado,as usual, had the high mountains covered in snow. Very pleasant drive.
Sue, how are you liking your new mattress cover, and the new hitch. What park are you going to next. I still have some of the jam from the “Brothers”. I really like it, but want to save some for the San Diego kids.
Catherine, When I was driving across Montana, saw a man walking, pulling a very small cart. Thought of your uncle, and the walks he did!
Beth, I drove the five mile loop road in, darn, now I have a blank spot in my brain. Where Custer was killed. I was surprised how steep some of the hills were in that area. The place where the Indians were campedwas someplace I would have liked to camp.
Velda, I jadn’t Realized that leeches we’re still used in medicine today. Where is your son in MN? I will be driving north on Hwy 5 around Sept 1sr. Will you be home?
Barbie, are things getting more settled for you now. I have stayed at that casino Fantasy Waters.
The only thing I miss about not working is being around Medical People.
Mickey and Mary...UGH.
That’s it for my report today. On my way! Through New Mexico!

Carol, I love your flower.

I went and met Birdie and Carolyn in Breaux Bridge for dinner. Good to see them. I got to eat crawfish again before the season ends.

One of my smoke alarms started chirping at 4:30 am. How do they always know to start that in the middle of the night? I took it down and checked the battery. The battery looked good to me but the alarm didn't think so. I needed to replace one of the bedroom ones anyway so got a new one and new batteries. The new batteries shut the old one up. I have 5 smoke detectors all within 25 feet of each other. When one starts chirping it's hard to tell which one it is. The price on the new ones has really gone up. There are some that talk to you for $60.

I told Carolyn that I would go to the meetup meal in the morning at 9:00. I'm' going to have to get up at 6:00 to make it. We'll see how that goes.

it's another rainy day!!! went to my moms for the day... when asked what we did pretty much nothing visited a bit I watered her paints and vacuumed the floors... we shared a meal on wheels.. it was breakfast scrambled eggs and french toast I supplemented it with toast..and did some indexing did a row on my afghan and lots of tv watching she likes Hallmark ...
I think one day I need to have either or both one of my dd's and a grandchild or two go over with me and help with some deeper cleaning she has lots of plants that could stand to be moved and the floor vacuumed better lots of nick knacks needing dusting and furniture as well as well as vacuuming closier to the baseboard guess in short a good spring cleaning..I think one of the plants is dead but can't tell for sure and know another is think the cold and lack of water got it over the winter. I think they get watered over the winter but not as often as when I do I try to water each week..
came home and got a lesson in how to put stuff into the SD card on my phone it now longer tells me that I am short of storage... and got to play on Fishdom...
and made popcorn been wanting it for a long time...

Busy day but nothing to show for it. Today is the one year anniversary of Peaches traveling to the Rainbow Bridge. So I've been thinking of her and all my past furry loves today. And giving Ty more hugs than he wants lol

Hotter than I wanted today... Will be cooler than I want tomorrow. Haha... What a strange weather year.

I wrote a long post yesterday from my phone, then got an error message and lost it all  So will try again...

Been purging lots of stuff. Can't find anything of mine I need so have been running to the store for things. Still no TV or internet hooked up. I got everything connected but it still isn't working so will have to call tomorrow to find out what I am doing wrong.

I have met a few neighbors already. Not a lot of people around here this time of year tho.

Lola is having severe diarrhea again. There is a place just down the road that is an animal shelter and a vet office so will check with them if I can bring Lola there. Other than that she is acting normal. She got outside today when I was moving boxes. Luckily she ran back inside when I shouted at her.

The former owner sure collected a lot of things. I found about 5 sets of bedding, about 20 wash cloths, lots of towels, etc. I haven't cleaned out the kitchen yet but I already know she has enough silverware for about 20 people, at least that many wine glasses, tons of pots, pans and glass casserole dishes. And I thought I had too much stuff for a single person!

It was about 100* today and got real windy later in the day. Will be around 110* next week. Have a lot of stuff to do inside anyways. Need to find someone to pick up the furniture next week.

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie thrift stores are going to love you....if there is a .... hate it when I can't think of the names or words or whatever... so we will do it the long way the group that helps people builds homes that typically can't afford it... they have a store where they can buy things that have been donated for a lower cost... hopefully someone will come up the name of the group
