Tuesday Today

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday Today

Postby SoCalGalcas » Tue Jun 04, 2019 7:25 am

I arrived at the entrance to T Roosevelt Nat’l Park yesterday. It was hot and I was tired. Also, radio said big storm would be arriving that evening. As I wanted AC, I came into a real RV Park. The first time on this trip that I haven’t just found a nice place to park for the night. After three long days of driving, I am tired. The storm turned out to be nothing but lightning, thunder and heavy rain.
Sun is out this morning, and it is a beautiful day. Am going to sit and have a cup of coffee before getting on the road. Will do a shorter day, in mileage, today.
The truck told me it wanted an oil change. When I got it, the attendant told me he was born and raised in San Diego. We had a nice visit. Small world!
Driving across ND I found an NPR station that played wonderful classic music. As I will enter Montana today, I hope to again be able to find a good radio station. When I traveled full time, I had satellite radio which was great!l
Sheila, there is a bridal shower scheduled in San Diego that I want to go to. Looking at the map, I will be too far south on this trip to visit.

It sounds like you’re having such a fun trip, SoCal!

We are buying a used Ford Ranger today, local dealer is the son in law of a close friend, he really hooked us up. It’s a 2011 with 96,000 miles on it (V6), but a total “dad car”. Locally owned, one owner, every service record back to the day it was bought new, engine so clean you could eat off it... and he’s selling it to us for $2500 lower than fair retail. Since we’re really needing to get back to work and refill the savings account, it’ll be our second car and allow us to go in opposite directions for work.

Good afternoon. Been a busy morning for me today. Went over to get the Motorhome and was going to wash my front window. Ended up washing the entire Motorhome (all 36 feet of it) before it got too hot. I need to do the inside windows but they will wait until I am parked in the RV park. Turned the fridge on. Ran the generator with the AC on while I was washing the MH. When I got in to move it over to my house I was pleasantly surprised my dash AC really is fixed LOL When I had my issues a couple months ago they said they fixed my dash AC as it had a split in the hose.....I have heard that before "it's fixed" LOL So it really is fixed for now.

Loaded all the dog stuff and dog food. (includes treats of course). Turned the fridge on to get cold so I can finish loading tonight. I need to put a little bit of water in the holding tank as I dont have much in there yet. Clothes and shoes will go in this evening. Will also hook the car up tonight. Updated my Garmin. I want to be pretty much ready to head to Armitage (where Judy often stays) in Eugene for 5 nights. I have stayed there before and it really is a nice park. Now fixing some lunch (spicy chicken terriyaki bowl) to go with my Blended Caramel Mocha.

Lyn hope you get rested up. Mickey and Mary coming out of retirement??? The only thing I miss about not working is the PAYCHECKS

Lyn, I hope you had time to do at least one scenic loop at that park. It's magnificent! Safe travels.

Nothing exciting here.

Finally got wifi connected in my motel room.

Got up fairly early to unload the trailer. Got another storage unit since the first one was pretty much full. I ended up filling this one completely too! It was already pushing 90 when I was unloading so I had to stop a couple times and sit in the air-conditioned car and drink a ton of water. But got it done and dropped off the trailer. Came back to the motel to cool off and rest up for awhile. Went back out later to Walmart to pick up a few things including a pillow since I seem to be very allergic to the motel pillows.

My Vista house is closed and my Indio house is paid in full and I have a nice balance in my checking account! Tomorrow morning I will go to the new house, pick up the keys, turn on the AC and get my bedding on the bed, get Lola's stuff set up and start going thru stuff in there.

It got to 104* today and will be 107* tomorrow. :o Big change from the Vista weather! It is definitely dry out here. I am always thirsty and constantly putting lotion on me.

One of my neighbors at the old house was looking for a sweet lap cat, and since Lola has been not feeling well and very irritated with Emily, and the vet said stress might be part of her issues, I asked my neighbor if she would be interested in adopting Emily. She ended up taking her and they are both very happy together! So I just have Lola and she seems so less stressed and feeling much better. She is more affectionate, playful and eating really well now. I am happy when she is happy. :D

Taking it easy tonight while I have the chance before the big purge and moving in stuff happens.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I was wondering where Emily was but didn't want to ask. Most of the outside cats are afraid of strangers except MiMi. Every time someone comes to look at the motorhome she befriends them. I tell them they can have a cat with the camper. lol So glad you are about to be settled. Let the decorating begin. lol

Not much going on today. I didn't have to go to town. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow. I'm am going to try to fast so I can get the blood work done in the morning. I put up a sign in the kitchen. We'll see if that works.

The rain that is coming up the Gulf got here this afternoon. They are saying we could get 5-10 inches of rain and 2' higher tides. That will slow the rivers draining. My grass is getting crispy but I sure don't need that much rain.

My neighbors are on vacation and their grandson is suppose to be taking care of the show calves. I went out to the barn this morning and the barn is full of flies. I don't think he is cleaning the stalls. I had a couple of fly traps in the cabinet so put them out.

woke up to blue sky and big fluffy clouds even opened the door and a couple of windows then son in law came down and was visiting asked if I happen to know what the weather was suppose to do said nope but I was liking it so far.. he was thinking about going and getting weed killer but needed a longer dry spell... he said I have a feeling it is going to rain some time today.. about that time there was a couple of sprinkles and then more and it ended up being a deluge of rain not we are back to blue sky and big fluffy clouds
one day it won't rain and I will be able to put my comforter out on the line and let it air out... but so far hasn't happen
Lyn so wish that you were going to be close enough but understand wanted to get to a place for something important been there done that...
Barbie glad you have gotten to Indio ok and able to get into your new home or will be able to... will you be able to get rid of stuff before you officially get the house? hope so sounds like Lola just is a one only pet...
It was one of those days that it would be really easy to be a couch potato got most of what I wanted to do done other than I was going to wipe down my mirrors but wet the drying cloth instead of the cloth that you get wet and use first.... they streaked so will have to redo them when the drying cloth is dry....
grandson surprised me for the past 4 graduations I have made these 'memory box" for the girls and one boy I was able to decorate them with things geared to their interest all of them were into theatrics my other grandson was harder not that he didn't have outside interests... he was an avid sports wrestling football basketball hunter but because of him being him I went to just using a treasure chest sanded it down did put it on legs and stained it... when I asked the current graduate just now I asked which he wanted cash or a memory box asked what that was described it and he choose the box... shocked me!!! so now I have to find the box and do it think it will be more like his brother's as he hasn't really been into much did do track but think for the guys I really like the treasure chest type of chest ....
been trying to find the ID channel finally did...
and it's Tuesday NCIS with any luck it will be one I've already seen you would think I would get to see the shows I've not seen in the last 3 months

The only animals Lola has accepted were the ferrets. She is gonna be an only pet now until she crosses the Bridge.

I will check tomorrow about the stuff in the house and if I can actually get it out of there right away. My agent thought it wouldn't be a problem. My money is already in escrow and the owner is in Greece, so I doubt she would object but will check for sure.

If anyone is traveling along I-10 from Los Angeles to Arizona, feel free to contact me and we can meet up for lunch! I am 1/4 mile off the I-10 right behind the Fantasy Springs Casino. You could probably park your RV there if you want to stay for a couple days.

I had a good Tuesday ! Linda M and I skipped the senior fare as it was too crowded. So we went to Frys Electronics and I got a new CB antenna on sale for $19 as I have no clue where the huge one Mel had on there went. Old was magnetic and so is this one. I had tested CB and it was ready to go except antennae, so I thought why not. Then we headed to REI and she helped me buy hiking shoes as I had not owned any in years. Got the brand my son in MN recommended as of the four brands I tried, these were totally comfortable. They are Obaz brand and Made in America, a bonus in addition to being $75 or so cheaper than my Brooke Arielle's I have worn for years ( well that model with multiple pairs to rotate). Wore new shoes all day and feet very happy. Took her to lunch at my favorite burger place and we talked and talked then headed home. We set up the antennae and it works so that's ready. She headed home and I continued talking to my handyman and his fiancée and about 5 the vet called to report Mandy is doing well in her lead lined spa, while her radiation fades. Home either Friday afternoon or Saturday. Boy is summer here- it was 98 here today. Time to begin getting my act together on the van as I leave a week from Saturday !

OMG. I LOVE being retired. It's like I finally have a life!! One that I chose, not one that is chosen for me.

LOL! Definite bummer about the paychecks, though.

Velda, I don't know if you have listened to a CB lately but the language is terrible. I have a portable one but seldom bother to hook it up.

I was wondering if truckers still use those.

Barbara, if you think about it, cell phones truly can't replace CB. Say you are driving your truck on the road and you see another truck with a loose tie down and need to tell them. You certainly won't know the cell number of every trucker you meet but it's easy to call them on CB radio.
And no I haven't listened to CB lately, but I never did "listen" to conversations. It's simply a tool to use as needed so to have a secondary means of communication. So I'm not worried about listening to language as I'll only use as needed.

Thanks, That is what I was thinking. They still need to be able to communicate with each other on the road. I dated a trucker a long time ago and went cross country once with him so I really learned to respect those guys (and gals). It is a tough job!

I remember when everyone got a CB for their cars, I think back in the late 60's, early 70's. My dad had one for several years. I am sure the truckers hated that, with every yayhoo yapping on there all the time and the kids playing on it too.
