Check in day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Check in day

Postby PeggyinCT » Sat Jun 01, 2019 6:01 am

Good morning Everybody from what I hope will be a sunny day in Hartford. A friend and I are going on a tree walk this morning at ten and then she is returning to my house for lunch, so I’m up early getting things ready. I’m trying a new rhubarb flip recipe which is like an upside down cake. If it doesn’t work out, I have watermelon!!! Enjoy today and be kind to those you meet. Peggy

Completely forgot it was June 1st. And of course, rabbits. Today is the day our Road Scholar adventure ends. I will be beginning the trek back to San Diiego after something to eat. The birds were great and I saw many new to me birds. One of the tiny little black flies bit me on the eye lid. I look like I lost the fight. We had a wonderful group here during the week. The instructors were superb. A father and son. Food was good, but., nothing to write home about. This is very beautiful country. I think 10,000 Lakes is a misnomer...there must be more. Lyn

Morning all!

Not much doing here, planning a play day at the pool if the weather cooperates. Went and looked at vans yesterday for a possible light conversion for camping... but as usual, we’re gripped by overthinking.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Good morning it's been awhile...
I had a fractured foot for a while I didn't have a really good winter I had the flu really bad once and not so bad the second time one month later... had a couple emergency room visits for kidney stones & a few misdemeanor things health-wise...
But now I'm feeling good I was unable to go camping all winter and now that I'm able physically it's too freaking hot to go ...Florida got hot early this year..
It seems in my senior years I do not do hot very well...
But I'm keeping busy I'm going to downsize again hahaha can you believe a year-and-a-half ago I didn't have anything when I came to Crystal River Village and now I have to downsize...
Well I've been researching on how to downsize differently this year because we can't have yard sales legally in our community I did one illegally LOL
Anyway I'm going to try and do some online selling I'm still in the research mode and still in the sorting through what I need to get rid of and want to get rid of...
We did have a couple of luncheon get-togethers with a few people in the Northern to Central Florida area
Some camping friends from this group and some new ones...
Well I could say I'm going to try harder to post but who knows if that will happen anyway it's nice reading what you are doing once in awhile when I make it over this way have a good one.... Me & Pheebe

Good Morning. Currently sunny and mid-60's for a high. I'll take it! I love all the 1st check ins. Peggy, let us know how that new dessert turns out. If good, maybe share the recipe.

Good morning gals. We went from May Gray to June Gloom now. But it keeps temps down. Still sweater weather in the mornings and evenings. Still running my furnace a bit at night.

Forgot to say "rabbits" last night before bed. Too bad, because I can use all the luck I can get right now!

Up early waiting for the repair guy to return for the work he needs to finish. Just got one little pile of stuff to sort and pack and then I can start cleaning. Mostly windows and floors.

Lyn, glad you had a good time with your birding class. Yes, there are actually about 12,000 lakes in MN and most of them are in the northern third of the state. That is why there are so many bugs! (and humidity in the summer).

Hope you all have a good day!

Good morning. Warm here already at 8am 65° going to be in the high 80's so anything I need to do outside I better do early. Going to clean my gutters this morning so they can dry and I can make a few repairs of the seams.

Will be leaving for Eugene on Wednesday, going to the FMCA rally in ALbany, OR Staying in Eugene for 5 nights but only going to the Rally on Thursday. Need to go over and wash the windows on the Motorhome so I can see out LOL There will be vacuuming needed but can do that at the campground instead of starting the generator to do it.

I actually remembered RABBITS this morning. So good luck for the month would be awesome LOL I pretty much have my yard done, as much as I am doing this year. Now I wait for the little bushes to grow ha ha Had a great holiday weekend with my BFF and hope to do it again soon.

June 1st already,, packing and planning begin!!
Two weeks to road GO!!
Its getting summer hot here and I'm looking forward to getting into cooler temps, heat just wears me out for some reason. :-)
wrapping up stuff in the yard cause monsoon season will begin about the time I leave town so need to stow stuff on the patio and in the yard just so it doesn't decide to rehome itself in my absence. Hahaha,
Have been busy otherwise making beer, which was a funny decision to do on my part cause I was never a beer person,,, just never cared much for it. The kit was a gift and turns out I like beer just fine !! Just depends on the kind. I happen to think a porter beer tastes pretty good. SOooooo,, first batch went great, down to two bottles left of that, second batch I poured down the drain, (kind like a nasty cider) Third batch almost ready to bottle, sometime this week. I think its gonna be great, can't wait to taste it. So that's what I've been up to in my spare time.
Enjoy your day and maybe see you down the road this summer.

Happy June! Weather seems to be calling the shots for me. I'm near Albuquerque where t-storms are predicted (not severe - yet) so that limits Sling rides. I should be on my way to Kansas but their weather isn't great. I'd like to cancel that whole trip but my almost 90 yo aunt had knee replacement surgery. She's in rehab now and I was hoping to be of some help to her when she gets home. Plans are uncertain until I get to Washington in September - if not sooner. European cruise the end of October. Everyone stay safe and well!

It's already 90 here but feels hotter than that to me. Just can't take the heat anymore. I seldom make it anywhere in the morning but have already been to Walmart and back. I woke up with my left eye running and I must have scratched it. Then it started hurting. I couldn't find any eye drops. I had to drive to town with my hand over my eye so I could see out of the other eye. The eye drops helped but still feels dry or scratchy.

There were cars parked all over down town and it took me a while to remember what was going on. It's the Day Lilly Festival they have every year. If my eye hadn't been hurting and I could have parked within a half mile I would have stopped. I don't have any day lillies but they usually have craft booths. Not that I need anymore junk.

Beer is not my favorite drink and I couldn't see making it. There are a lot of craft beer places that have opened up. In college there was a pizza place that had a dark beer on tap that I liked. Sharon Souter and I liked Shiner Bock a lot. When I was in Houston we went to a German restaurant and the waiter brought us some samples to try. There was one that I liked a lot. I wish I had written the name down. The local grocery store has put in a section of beer and ale that you can buy one of. They put the cartons there and you can make a selection.

Sweetie Pie is laying under my desk using my foot as a pillow. It doesn't take an outside cat long to get spoiled. That's how I end up with so many house cats. They move in and never move out. The last time I went to Sam's I bought a big box of the 5 oz cans of cat foot. I divide one can between the house cats in the morning and at night. They only get a spoon full each. They are not going to be happy when that runs out.

I haven't been on here in so long I don't know where to start.
Early afternoon here in Alberta. The sun is shining and the smoke from the wildfires up north has cleared. I'll be spending the Summer here visiting family and friends. My granddaughters are so grownup now, 6 and soon to be 5. I am hoping to get out with the motorhome a few times over the next 3 months.

My Winter in Florida Oct.29 - April 24 was great. Took a 2 week trip to Miami and The Keys with Irmi and Steve. Flew back to Alberta for a month over The Holidays. Rescued my new dog, Joey, in January. Had cataract surgery in March. Now I need to do a deep cleaning everywhere. Those Dust Bunnies!!! had been hiding up until now.

That is all from this neck of the woods. I will try to post more often. Have a great month of June everyone.

Brenda, good to see you on here again! What kind of dog did you get?

Ava, you will have to share your beer with us in Q next January! I am also not a beer drinker but maybe homemade beer would be better. There are a ton of breweries opening up all over out here.

Just got an amended Docusign form saying that I can move in 12 days earlier than close of escrow (the 21st). Well, that still puts me out until the 9th of June and homeless for almost a week. I sent an email to let them know I am not happy with that either. Someone better be paying for my motel room, or rather, hotel suite for those extra days!

Did get the repairs finished this morning so that is good to go now. My roommate is moving her stuff out. I am pretty well packed up and need to start cleaning now. Will do windows first and then clean the floors after she gets all her boxes out. Want it looking nice in here tomorrow for the walk-thru.

Lost a neighbor the other night. Saw a firetruck, 3 police cars, and an ambulance come flying past the house two nights ago. Turns out the guy had a brain aneurysm and didn't survive. Only 66 years old.

Looks like the sun is trying to peek out now. Hope so! Makes cleaning windows easier (to see any streaks)!

Update: The agent screwed up on the Docusign and I am still able to move in next Wednesday. Whew! Don't need any more issues! I am getting gray overnight!

So nice to hear from several "missing persons"!! It shows a few are still lurking, even if they do not post often.

I made some iced tea this morning. I use a tea kettle to boil water and then toss in 3 tea bags. I take the kettle off the stove and set it on my cutting board to cool. Except this morning, I decided to put the cutting board back in its place on top of the stove. So, very dumbly, I picked up the whole, large cutting board with the hot tea kettle on it and moved it over. Unfortunately, the tea kettle full of almost boiling tea, slid and hit me in the chest, pouring some tea onto me. I had only a thin t-shirt on, no bra, so I really got burned on one side. I put the kettle back and started splashing cold water on me, lifting up my shirt, and then grabbed some ice from the freezer that was in a plastic bag. I think I controlled the burn damage, but there is a very red patch, no blisters. Anyway, let's just say it was a really stupid move, and it is going to be painful wearing a bra for a few days!! Could have been worse, as they say.

Sunny, but cool, here at the top of the country in the Olympic Peninsula. Been watching a lot of people walking dogs, and at least 70% of the dogs are really overweight! Not the dog's fault, however. Saw a couple tiny ones that could barely walk, which must be painful for them.

Later - Luckily burn is not as bad as I thought. Got to stop doing dumb things, however.
