Sunny Sunday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Sunday!

Postby dpf » Sun May 26, 2019 10:03 am

Good Morning! Now this one for the records! I'm the first one to post unless someone sneaks in ahead of me. I'm enjoying a pot of Cherry Crème coffee if you care to join me. All the Shopko stores in the area went out of business and they carried Door County flavored coffee. The last week they were open the packs of coffee were marked down to .10! I bought about 20 packs and they are my Sunday morning treat.

Really not anything to say. Hopefully my pots have dried out enough to finish planting in them today. I'm heading to the wellness center in a bit and probably will have the whole place to myself...it's nice but I don't find myself as motivated when I'm alone.

Thought I would post a few pictures of yesterday's branding for those of you who are far removed from ranch life. These are Ashley's pictures....remember I told you yesterday that I came home and took a nap!

Image
Future cowboys are the peanut cheering gallery! Pretty ornery bunch! Ringleader wearing the hat is Bronc. Haddie along with the other little ones were relegated to the house and yard.

Image
Friends and neighbors who load up their horses to come and help. Branding parties happen frequently this time of the year and everyone helps everyone else.

Image
Actual branding. Ryan in branding and the vet's assistant is giving vaccinations. Our other son Sean was also giving vaccinations with another crew.

Have a great day ladies!
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Very cool pictures, dpf!! Got to see a little of that when I was a kid living in AZ, but it sure is prettier where you are.

Pat, your pictures bring back memories of working cattle. Can't say that I miss all that even though we didn't brand. I was usually the one giving shots.

I still haven't talked myself into going to the lake yet. I really don't want to bring that cat.

It is already 90 so don't imagine I'll do much today. Two guys on motorcycles just passed. Guess they are out for a Sunday ride. I don't like to see strangers on our road. You never know what they are up to.

Josef and I just got back a little while ago from the Sunday dog show. Josef did pick up an Owner Handled Best of Breed both days but left the Owner Hander Sporting Group with nada. Only four places and none of them his. Some shows are like that. The rings were inside in air conditioning which we all appreciated but the ring they had all the SPorting Groups in was small. It is tough to show a sporting dog that moves our in a ring that doesn't allow it. Some clubs try their best to give the Owner Handlers some equal respect by having the rings full sized for groups. Alas, some club seem to think space is an after thought. Some of the groups at the smaller shows don't have as many eligible but it is unusual to have those smaller numbers in Sporting. Anyway, Josef will have to wait for another "on any day something fine can happen!" moment.

And I stopped by and picked up a couple of movies to watch and am looking forward to having tomorrow off.

Ran all my errands and picked up the three bottled of eye drops at the pharmacy I will need for my cataract surgery in mid-July. Washed my motorhome when I got back. Whew, that is a big job for someone as short and old as I am! So, I finally put away the groceries and now both the freezer and refrigerator are stuffed, so I need to do some eating.

Tomorrow, I head to Washington for a couple of weeks. I am going to try to get up early tomorrow as I want to stop at the Container Store south of Portland on my way and get some plastic bins that can be sealed better to try to keep things dry in my storage bins. Been a pretty quiet weekend so far around here because it was so rainy yesterday--kept everyone inside I think.
