May 1st - May Day

Well I’m still up at 1:00 a.m., so I’ll make this the first time I’ve ever started Morning Coffee. Yay! I finally remembered to say “Rabbits”. It’s been many months since I was last successful in remembering. Hopefully it will be a good month.

I haven’t been on the road since Q! Since things with my daughter seem to continually descend to depths I never thought possible, I decided not to wait to see if she will contact me on Mother’s Day with an invitation to get together with her and my grandchildren. She has purposefully not let me know what the kids are doing in and out of school and about several major trips the family has made. This makes me think the chances are slim I’ll hear from her. Soooo, I’m excited! Rather than being disappointed, saddened and alone on Mother’s Day, I made a reservation to keep busy during a four-night stay at Hearst San Simeon State Park on the Central California coast. It’s about 5 miles south of Hearst Castle and just north of San Luis Obispo. I haven’t been to the state park before, but I’ve been to the area and to Hearst Castle. There’s still a lot I haven’t seen, and the entire area is spectacular. I especially want to go to the mission in San Luis Obispo, Bubblegum Alley, Morro Bay, the little village of Cambria and also to Moonstone Beach. I have a ring that was my maternal grandmother’s that has a moonstone she collected at the beach many, many years ago and had placed in the setting. Hopefully I might also get a chance to see some whales on their trek north.

I hope everyone has a wonderful May Day and safe travels to those on the road.
Sandi

Hi Sandi and all who follow. Was surprised to see who started Coffee on this first day of May. Figured you must have been up late since you live on the west coast and it’s only 7:30 a.m. here on the east. I have been up for awhile, but made breakfast, did dishes and then made Jello for my dinner deserts this week. My alternative to sweet stuff :) . Sorry about your relationship with your daughter. Unfortunately, you aren’t alone in that respect. But sounds like you have a great alternative planned.

Raining here this morning. The good soaking type rain. Be nice just to stay in, but have to go to Chiropractor this morning. Must have made a wrong move yesterday and got my pelvis out of whack. Has been very painful. So off to get adjusted later this morning and then run couple errands.

Feeling a bit like Christmas around here yesterday. Sold my refrigerator as I mentioned yesterday and then my new special order blinds for my trailer arrived too. So will be installing those later this week

Hope Cheryl survived what looked like a stormy night in MO yesterday and that Lyn is snuggled down someplace and keeping warm. Judy, thanks for giving her that info about U.P. it really is a bit too early to be up there right now as things are not open yet and State Parks even though open, usually don’t have water on till mid May. Aune Osborne Park does not open till May 15th. As is, they are getting snow in the U.P. this morning.

Enough chattering here. Need to take a shower and get this day moving.

Mornin' Sandi, Sue & all that follow~~~
Nothing new here, forgot Rabbits as usual.

Was a rainy day here in northwest MO. Didnt think it would ever stop. Just a steady all day rain. No thunder or lightening. Keeping my fingers crossed the guy comes to replace my windshield this morning or else may have to try again at my next stop.

That's it. Have a good day ladies.

Good morning all. Is it really May already? Not sure where April went! Guess time really does march on!! I’m hoping some of this rain slows down and we get some warmer weather. It’s been up and down here. A cool day and then a warmer day and rain at least every other day! Grass is growing well. Sure glad I got out last Friday and mowed! Otherwise I would need to rent some goats! Shouldn’t complain when I hear about some of the weather those of you in the northern tier are having! Not much new going on here. Just trying to keep ahead of all the things that needs to be done. Not sure if I’m succeeding! My guy is coming tomorrow to put the vent covers on Lola. Suppose that’s going to be a maybe since they’re calling for 80% chance of rain. Plus I need to arrange to get her to the garage for state inspection sometime this month. So with that I’d best get this day going. Need to take a load of leaves to the dump and if it’s not to muddy get a quick walk in for Rascal. Stay safe wherever you are and enjoy your day. Oh, and I remembered rabbits this morning!

Good morning Everybody on check-in for May Day. It’s good to be home and back to my life here in CT. So far I’ve been going to aerobics class three morning a week and a tai chi class on Tuesday. We’ll see how long that lasts.
Sandi, you made a decision to be happy on Mother’s Day and that’s an empowering decision. I think the Getty Museum is somewhere near where you are going to be. Today my sister is coming for a visit and we are going to the New Britain Museum of American Art to see a special showing of Georgia O’Keeffee famous Jimson Weed painting that was purchased by the Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville, AR. Yes, Walmart money... Enjoy today. Peggy

Morning all!

I’m starting May 1st with a 20 lb weight loss, was thrilled when I looked at the scale! Heading off for a long swim in a bit, feeling grand.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Sandi, sorry to hear that your difficulties with your daughter persist. It is very difficult, I am sure.

Enjoy your outing! The Hearst Castle area is very beautiful, particularly this time of year. Hope you have a great trip.

Good morning, frosty here again this morning BUT we have clear skies and sunshine. Supposed to be 84° here this weekend. Hoping the frost goes away I have tomato plants to get in the ground. Right now they are living in my storage shed. Will probably plant them this weekend and just live on the edge. I can always buy 4 more LOL

Sandi, sounds like a great trip you have planned. I learned a long time ago I cannot change certain relationships so I gave up trying. My life is much simpler now LOL

Playing Mexican train today with the neighbors, always good for a few laughs. Our owners husband is making his infamous Tacos for Cinco de Mayo, they are super good. Always a good turnout for his tacos. Not bad for a retired plumber ha ha And it is free. Most of our happenings are from $1 to $5 depending on what is being served. Sometimes it is a main dish with potluck sides other times coffee and donuts. Nice to visit with some neighbors that live further down in the community that I rarely see.

Hope everyone is out of harms way for the inclement weather.

Good morning gals.
After getting to bed before midnight last night, I remembered to say "rabbits" when I woke up this morning. :D

Sandi, considering how I feel about my situation with my daughter, my heart goes out to you for your situation! Good for you to take care of yourself and go on a trip! I wish I could meet you up there! I want to check out that whole area one day too. I have never been north of Santa Barbara.

Mickey, congrats on the weight loss!

Ava, good to hear from you. What are your summer plans??

Our HOA leader is having a taco bar dinner on Saturday and instead of calling it Cinco de Mayo, he is calling it Quatro de Cinco. since it is on the 4th. I think he meant to call it Quatro de Mayo. Had to laugh when I read that! He is from Boston and obviously doesn't know any Spanish!

Saturday is the big carport sale here and I still need to get things ready for it. Only a couple days left. :o

I am taking my Jeep in today to Discount Tire to get the tires checked. I want to get a small Uhaul trailer next week to take out to Indo and want to make sure my tires are good for traveling. Was told there is some dry rot on them so just want to see if they need to be replaced soon.

I am planning to get a home inspection done next week in Indio but my work schedule isn't cooperating too good for that. Will see if I can switch days with a co-worker or I will have to reschedule for the following week.

I also need to get Lola in to see a vet maybe tomorrow. She has been having diarrhea for a few days. She is eating and acting fine otherwise. I had to separated her from Emily for a bit to see which one was having problems and it turns out to be Lola. She is 14 or so now.

Need to get moving here. Have to be at work at 2pm today so have lots to do before then.

Have a good day!

Good morning all on this May 1st. Beautiful weather here in N. Central CA.

Peggy, the Getty Museum is way farther south than where Sandi will be.

Sandi. Have a wonderful time exploring the Central coast of CA. When I was there a couple weeks ago
we had a few sunny days and a few overcast/foggy days. Of course, I love it there anyway. What is the
name of the campground you will be staying and what dates? I might be in Pismo again soon -
maybe we could meet up. Seems like the Hearst Castle tours are
expensive but, hey, treat yourself for Mother's Day!!

Good Afternoon, just checking in. I have a contract on my house and am still trying to dispose of stuff. I’m moving at a senior pace so it is taking longer. Have no idea what I will do with myself when I have moved all the STUFF. Safe travels.

With regards to my sons and teenaged or almost-teenaged grandkids, I have long ago set my expectations low. Part of it was always the paucity of communication from boys and just their lack of concern for social things, but a large part was knowing they had a lot more things on their minds than their mother. For example, a family joke was their inability to remember my birthday. There were years I got gifts early and other years I got gifts late, and there was one year when one son remembered several months later! I had fun one year, when my younger son called me two days before my birthday to apologize for forgetting my birthday.

And for two years, but not consecutive years, my younger son sent me flowers for Mother's Day when I was not home. I had told him twice that I was going to be out of town for a long meeting, but he forgot and sent flowers anyway, which rode around in the florist truck for two days! And having made the mistake once, he did it again a couple of years later! Both are doing a little better now that they have wives to remind them, but they still tend to be scatter-brained when it comes to birthdays and such. I post things on Amazon, by the way, to help them with ideas, as neither is very creative about gift ideas. Thankfully, they are both successful in their careers and manage to handle things there.

And now my older grandson spends most of his time when I visit hunkered down in his bedroom with electronics. My older son apologized, and I told him not to worry, that I did not expect a teenager (he is 14 now) to want to spend a lot of time with his grandmother. He will grow out of it in a few years, so I am not worried.

The thing is, I don't take it personally and try not to schedule my life around my relationships with them. So, you are doing a good thing to be taking a short trip.

Good news! I got dates for my cataract surgery this summer--July 16 and 23. That will give me time to get my eyelids lifted later in August or September.
